Yes who knows indeed, Bawdy-nan ;-) It is not number 1 preference anyhow but I'd be OK about it if our son ended up going there. Not that long to wait now. -
School League Table results out for Secondaries ...

Bloody joke that we still > have state funded faith schools that openly > criticise homosexuality and discriminate (adoption > e.g.) in this day and age..... I didn't get that impression when we visited St Thomas. I am a very lapsed catholic (married in reg office and children haven't been baptised or christened) and I went to a catholic primary and an all girls catholic secondary in Liverpool. I can honestly say I never heard any anti gay teaching etc. Could just be my experience and I know there is a much wider issue and argument. I don't want to have an argument about it but just putting forward my own experience. In my ideal world there would be no faith schools or private or grammar. Just an equal start for all - but that is never going to happen I know :-( -

They have done really, really well. I loved that school when we went to look round it. We are not catholic but at the moment they let non catholics in but I think it will be a matter of time before it gets really popular and there won't be any room for non catholics. -
Hi Norma, I don't run Powerpramming anymore as I started a job at a local primary school. Jellybellypt have taken over the slots at the same time. Here is the link http://www.jellybellypt.com/home/jelly-belly-outdoors/

We had a lovely holiday this summer in Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria. It is a pretty fishing town with a nice beach. We have 2 boys who are older than your children but there were loads of younger children there too. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Tourism-g664857-Puerto_de_Mogan_Mogan_Gran_Canaria_Canary_Islands-Vacations.html We stayed self catering in these apartments: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g664857-d1100981-Reviews-Cordial_Mogan_Valle-Puerto_de_Mogan_Mogan_Gran_Canaria_Canary_Islands.html They have a number of pools and were in the process of building a new one which would be ready by now i think. Booked through Thomas Cook but we did not use them for any of the excursion type stuff. Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

I would echo what SE22mum says. Double up with another parent so one of you can do one party and another do the other one. Also, soon (depending on your child) you will not be required to stay. My eldest couldn't wait to get rid of me and never wanted me to stay at parties - probably because I was a kill joy and always reminding him of manners etc! Whereas the younger one would like me to stay. Regarding weekday parties after school it may be tricky for some parents to get their child there due to their working day. As others say, Fridays probably better as they will not be tired for school the next day.

Did you sell your wedding dress? Was it easy?
Goodliz replied to dibden's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Sold mine on ebay. I bought it new for ?500 (was on a strict budget) and sold it for ?50. I have 2 sons so there was no point keeping it - took up too much space in wardrobe. Like others have said there are loads and loads of 2nd hand dresses for sale. ebay was last thing I tried after listing it with some online sellers with no interest. -
Sounds just like my first son was. Loads of feeding, a bit of sleeping and so much crying. Nightmare! Got better for him properly at 12 weeks but it was a gradual process leading up to that time. So the crying got less and less as the weeks went by and by 12 weeks he was so much more settled. He is 10 years old now so I can't remember the exact ins and outs but much as I love him I can remember thinking: 'oh my god we can't put him back!' and 'we are going to have to let his future girlfriends know he needs to be swaddled before he falls asleep!' I wore holes in my shoes the miles I used to walk just to get him to sleep. In the end I did a very lightweight interpretation of Gina Ford. I'd put him in the pram for a walk at the designated nap times as i couldn't bear the thought of hearing him cry in the cot. It worked for him and he then became a great sleeper once out of that initial awful period. I think he was just knackered and had colic too. Not much help I know but just wanted to chip in to say I know how you feel, you sound very normal and it is awful but it does get better. Unfortunately no one can say exactly when. You never know it could be tomorrow or next week. Good luck and you and your partner are going to feel soooo much better when your baby gets settled. Trust your gut feeling as a parent, he is only 3 weeks old. Sounds like you are both very caring and doing a great job.

I've just asked youngest who in their class plays it and according to him there are 3 boys who have it and the others just talk about it alot.
-
Pickle, he is not alone. We don't have it. My kids have not played it and are doing OK. I found the endless options a bit of a barrier and could not decide what to do so never got round to buying it. My youngest, who you know well, goes a bit weird when he is playing computer games. I think they tap into an addictive part of his personality and he cannot take or leave them. Tantrums start when he is asked to come off them. Another reason for me deciding not to bother. Not saying your son will be like this though of course :-) Just wanted to let you know that we don't have it either.

Hello Thinking of going tomorrow but it is likely to be raining all day. Would anyone recommend it for a rainy day out? Thanks, Liz

Hello I've got a couple of questions: What is the difference between the 2 surveys? They both have the same title. What is the information sheet referred to in the first question? Once I know I can complete it. Thanks.

I'd completely echo what Katgod says. They are both great schools. YOu are lucky to be between them :-) -
These could be a possibility but I have a feeling I am too late seeing your post: http://munchpops.blogspot.co.uk/ This is my friend's business. They look great for lots of different types of occasions.

Peckham Rye Adventure Playground open?
Goodliz replied to MrsNina's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes it is. Went there this afternoon. -
Thought I'd mention that Powerpramming postnatal exercise classes carry on over the Easter Break - apart from Easter Monday on 21 April. Lots of baby activities stop for the school holiday so sometimes people think PP is off too. Sessions are: Mondays 12.30 on Peckham Rye - meet by car park/ cafe Thursdays 10am in Dulwich Park - meet at Court Lane Gate. Cost is ?6.50 You don't need to book. www.powerpramming.co.uk - has all the general information. Hope you can come. Liz Stuart 07976 778413

what's your family's favourite food?
Goodliz replied to SE22mum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I made this chicken tikka masala and it was very nice. Easy to make too. http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/12798/chicken-tikka-masala Everyone ate it. -
Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping something cheap and cheerful will come up locally.

Thank you hellosailer and melbourne groover. Hoping I find something soon as our's is about to pack up!

Our car is on the way out so we need to get another used car. I'm wandering where people go. We are not flashy and we are not into paying monthly for things (apart from mortgage of course) which means we would have to get something a bit older as we would be paying for it all in one go. Our current one was about 7 years old when we got it and it has lasted us about 6.5 years. As we don't have a pram anymore we would go for something smaller such as a fiesta, astra or focus. Can anyone recommend any garages please that are honest etc and are not full of cars for about 10 grand :-) Thanks, Liz

Brilliant. What an eye opener.

Yes, I hate it too. Totally agree it is about how creative the parents are or how much they are prepared to spend on an outfit. I've been trying really hard to convince them to go as Augustus Gloop - cushion stuffed in t-shirt and choc smeared round mouth. Both are refusing. Now I'm working on 'just bring a book in' Pickle, I think there may be another Harry Potter in Class 3 too - that seems to be youngest's current choice!

One of my sister's did this over 20 years ago when she had a very young son. Her and the friend she shared with are still very, very good friends now. Such a good idea. I hope you get it sorted out.

Hello, I really like Crystal Palace. I don't live there but for years I've used the area on my running routes! It has a very nice feel. I think it would be a great place to live. The high street is lovely, great park, sports centre and transport on the overground is meant to be good.
