Second time mums - Summer Babies FH or ED

I'll have finished work by then (giving myself a long break!) so would love to meet up on either of those dates! -
Hi there We're not doing primary school applications until next year so am watching the primary schools thread with interested. We really want to get ours into Ivydale (being by far the nearest school and really like it) so will stick this as our top choice. I'd be interested in hearing from people that haven't got into Ivydale when it was their top choice and how far away they live. I know they've bulged for past two years so there might be lots of sibling places next year. Many thanks

Toddlers world Crystal Palace-anyone been?
LauraHW replied to cmacnew's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes we've been fairly recently. It's very nice and clean but I'd say best for toddlers under 2.5 years. -
As I understand it the green deal was always intended for any measure that leads to an improvement in the energy efficiency of a home, not just insulation. Agree that with an interest rate of 7 - 8% the Green Deal could prove more expensive than taking out a home owner loan / remortgaging

Recent experiences of Kings College Hospital maternity unit
LauraHW replied to lizined's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Our son was in the SCBU at Kings for 2 weeks when he was born and he required surgery. The care that he received was truly outstanding and the compassion that the doctors and nurses on the ward showed us was amazing. We felt so lucky to have the hospital so near us, especially when parents were travelling every day from as far as Hastings. Some sections of the media (esp Mail) love to have a pop at the NHS and portray it and all health professionals (esp nurses) as uncaring and unprofessional but this couldn't be further from our experiences. Not saying that it doesn't have its faults but how lucky we are in this country to have such an amazing service, free at the point of delivery. Hurruh for the NHS I say. -
Sorry that you've been feeling low. I've recently heard that there's a link between stopping breastfeeding and depression so am not sure if this applies to you? All the best

You're right - the op raises some good points in relation to closure of police station. But how exactly is this the fault of council workers? I'm a bit sick of public sector worker bashing.

Punctuation please! What a load of rubbish! Exactly how is a perceived increase in crime the fault of council workers? Agree - I suspect the work of a daily mail journo.

Maybe we could put in a Cleaner, Greener, Safer application for the next round for upgrades to the Children's Playground http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200256/cleaner_greener_safer

I'm really bored, can someone start a heated debate please
LauraHW replied to Otta's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Can I go off current topic and throw my hat into the ring with: there is no place for faith schools (especially state funded) in a modern day, multi-cultural Britain. They just promote differences between children from a very early age. We should move towards a secular model like the French have. -
Agreed. I think it's a really important issue that can greatly affect the quality of your local environment. If you find these posts a little tiring, then don't read them!

Peck Rye One O Clock club - new sessions in 2013?
LauraHW replied to pilsbury's topic in The Family Room Discussion
antantant Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why are they never run on weekends? How are > working parents meant to utilise these council > facilities? I guess because there's only so much council resources to go round and council workers need time off too. You need to pay overtime to staff if they work weekends which may compromise the viability of the free centre. Plus some of these facilities (certainly at Peckham) are part staffed by volunteers and it's more difficult to get people to give up their time at weekends. That said I think some Children's Centres so run sessions on saturday mornings. I just feel so lucky that we're in an area that has so many free activities available! -
Anything running this weekend for toddlers?
LauraHW replied to Spooner's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We went to the Docklands museum in Canary Wharf just before christmas and they have a really nice kids zone which kept my 2.5 yo entertained for well over an hour. Also good place to visit is Greenwich. Lots to do, great playground in the park and also the boats to have a look at! -
Anyone else still got issues with Vodafone reception?

Could you let me know the email address or link to form to complain as I can't seem to find it! Many thanks

Would you be able to send me the recicpe for fritters too? Sound lovely! Many thanks

Another thumbs up for the Dish and the Spoon. Loads of lovely toys for kids, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and some really amazing cheddar on offer. Only slight gripe from me is that the breakfast menu could be a bit broader. Would love it if they were able to offer french toast, pancakes or similar. We get our fry up fix from the Cheltenham Cafe.

Anyone else have ridiculously early mornings in this hot weather? I think 5.10am in way too uncivilised a time to start the day and no chance of lo going back to sleep once he's awake. Bring back the rain I say!

Hi there I'm not wishing up to open a whole can of worms on the MMR debate but my 22mo had his second MMR yesterday and today has been totally off his food and irritable. He threw up once and had a couple of runny poos. When I put him to bed he wouldn't be left and I had to stay with him till he fell asleep. V rare for him. Anyone else experience any side effects like this or just coincidence? Many thanks!
