Another hijacking of a topic! Amsterdam is a brilliant cultural city. It is not drug and prostitution infested as many people seem to think. I think if you said that to most Amsterdammers they would be offended. If anyone does have any practical recommendations then I'd really it appreciate it .
-
That certinally brings an element of excitement into our stay... something to be wary of. But still, that's why I'm asking for a recommendation.

Planning on going to Amsterdam with the wife for a long weekend in October. Does anyone have any particular recommendations? seems to be plenty of them out there but it's just good if something comes recommended. Would also take a pretty appartment as an alternative.

Piermont Road - is not a cut thro to Peckham Rye
andypandy replied to BQC's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Genius. Who needs planners, Architects , road planners. THIS IS PROGRESS, Power to the people. Of course it will be environmentally friendly, like Harris Boys Academy we too can randomly slap wind turbines on the roof ( see attched). After all we are in a particularly windy part of London, being low down and nowhere near the coast. This is a call to pick up your spades..... Before anyone else says it (mods), might be going a bit off-topic now...... -
Piermont Road - is not a cut thro to Peckham Rye
andypandy replied to BQC's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The South-Eastway - I like it. It's catchy in a sort of non catchy way....I think that the top end of PR Park, with it's useless fields can be redeveloped as a new retail park. Finally we'll get McDonalds, Pizza Hut,KFC Matalan and others. ED has been crying out for these for a long time. Obviously Piermont Road will need to be protected so the fly over can be extended up Upland road with Upland road being extended over LL to join with the south circular. This will essentially like Dulwich Park and Peckham Park. The Park Link Flyover as it might be know , East Dulwich answer to cross rail. I really feel that we are onto something here -
Piermont Road - is not a cut thro to Peckham Rye
andypandy replied to BQC's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Solved.....Piermont Road Flyover, apparently the council have been looking into it. They have produced a artists impression of how it might look. That would sort it. Also would give the benefit of somewhere dry for piss heads to hang out. 2 for the price of 1... ( see attached image) -
Eileen Wrote: > Peckham Rye Park, opened in 1984, is ............ ------- Slight typo..... It originally opened in 1894. click here for more info and before that as Eileen points out it was Farm land Take a look at some old maps 1894 year the park opened and 1891 when it was farmland: 1894 1891 I too prefer PRP to Dulwich Park. There is a skate park in the middle of the park, a place which you might think would attract the wrong crowd. My 5 yr old son has gone there weekly since he was about 2 and can say in general the older boys look out for the young ones ( albeit in a off-hand, cool way) it's really very sweet. We moved from the Centre of ED to a 5 min walk of the park 2 years ago and it was the best thing we ever did.

Gillian Watson (I have some post for her)
andypandy replied to Andystar's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Perhaps its for the Right Honorable Gillian Watson MP for Dundee East, who is claiming that your house is their second home? Open the package If it's a duck island, fake beam or a ?250 Alarm Clock- you might be onto something. On second thoughts that would be ridiculous. That would never happen... Silly me -
Surma Curry House: Award Free (Apparently)

Surma Curry House: Award Free (Apparently)
andypandy replied to andypandy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Libra Carr In almost 10 years in ED I have never eaten in Surma. I can not possibly comment on the quality of the food I'm sure it is of the highest standard. I do enjoy the odd Cuzza. However Looby Loo isn't so keen on the calorie rich treats so these days visits and far between. Needless to say when Looby Loo is next away with Martin Clunes/ Evan Davis I shall consider Surma and post my views on this forum. I also cannot comment on the interior decor however an original 70's scheme would appeal - anyone been into Omrith lately? (dreadful decor) I have not noticed Joanna Lumley in the restaurant opposite - you seem to say she works there...I would not call her dumb though, her recent endevours to fight the cause of the Gurkhas is not to be sniffed at. I have eaten at THAT restaurant and have found the the food is extreemly fresh and tasty (unlike the review, from the "Dumb Blond" author of Brick Lane- as you mention). Ms Ali is clearly not Blond. I suspect you were commenting on her gaze, obviously she is contemplating a desert. As for my "innane comments", they were mearly an observation concerning the window signage and nothing more. I suspect you did not see the attached picture that I refered to in my post. Long live ED Curry, it consumes more bytes (pun intended) than just about anything else on this Forum AP LibraCarr Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dear Andy Pandy, > > I think you have clearly lost the plot as you > should be eating pudding and pie's!! > > Are you sure you eat at the Surma in Dulwich, > Dulwich is a very large area you may have got > confused with the lower rate rating restaurants > near by. Has anyone noticed that Surma aren't really marketting their restaurant as effectively as the management might have intended? I am looking forward to seeing their "Established Winning Home" and having their "1976 Restaurant Delivery" - luckily that decor is back in vogue.... (see picture attached)

Keys Found (North end of Scutari Rd): Are you J.H.M??
andypandy replied to andypandy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I still have the keys. Despite someone describing the keyring perfectly they didn't belong to them. So if you have lost some keys let me know. They are safe here with me. -
Keys found at the North end (bottom of the hill) of Scutari Rd. There are two keys on a distinctive keyring. Might they be yours. They appear to be registered so I'll also try contacting the owners another way.... PM me a description if you think they might be yours. It's near Peckham Rye Park so perhaps you went to the park and came back without your keys?? I've just noticed that the key fob is engraved with the initials JHM. Ring any bells with anyone? Sorry about this unbelievably boring thread.....

So what ever you think about it, Google has now published it's Street View via Google Maps for London and that includes ED. The pictures appear to have been taken last summer. So perhaps you might want to add to this post and point out something factual, amusing, gossipy, adulterous.... The doors are open! Check it out at Google Maps type in an address / postcode, select Street View option and off you go.

Fridge removal (do the council do it?)

THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR - (CLICK LINK) -
We had a similar experience with a man claiming to need to get to the hospital for some reason and needed a taxi fare etc. At the time I was taken in and didn't actually have any cash to give him so I suggested that I drive him to the hospital. Funily enough he didn't take me up on my offer. I then realised that it was a scam. So in future perhaps call their bluff by not offering cash but something else, you will possibly soon see what's going on. But be careful, don't put yourself at risk....

Now that's what I call marketing.....
-
.....clearly if she wants the work she needs to call a spade a spade - forget cockney slang. A clear menu of services off on a T-shirt, for example, would be very helpful ( perhaps with diagrams). Marketing - it's all in the marketing.
-
Not sure... perhaps I won't take Looby Loo this time. Yes this is getting worse. I should never be encouraged. Stop this at once and get back on the thread - we are not even talking about Brownies.
