Free horse manure available from Dulwich Riding School I believe. -
Charity shop or book shop or secondhand furniture shop ( used to be one of the latter where The French Cafe is now, which I sorely miss, but obviously didn't do enough to support when it was there...

Any experience of finding someone 40+ to travel with?

Do you like the idea of dinghy sailing at all? My husband and I used to go on Menorca Sailing Holidays (http://www.minorcasailing.co.uk/)a while back and there was always a number of single people of varying ages who were having a good time together, but were not necessarily on the lookout for a hook-up. No need to know how to sail, excellent equipment and instruction for all abilities, plus plenty of time to go sightseeing without relying too much on just one other person. -
Google "repurposed mugs" and look at the image results. Plenty of ideas for re-using mugs.

I have a couple of CD player/radios with the CD part not working, but the radio working fine. It seems wrong to just chuck them, but I can't think what else to do with them. Any ideas?

Cursory. I thought the post about the dog was good.

I spray Feliway on to any area where the cat scratches or pees. Seems to stop it. (Not the diffuser, but the spray directly on to the specific spot.)

Five Valleys Lemon and Mint cordial has a lovely different sort of taste -- not too sweet and very refreshing. I know some people who swear by Bundaberg root beer as a non-alcoholic drink. Looks and smells a bit medicinal to me. Both available from Ocado.

Which sweet shop?

Your original post sounded like you were looking for a gardener for gardening work and not the very serious problem you are facing. Perhaps contact Admin to explain. If you include the information about the snake it will be clear that the post belongs in this section.

The term gypos is generally considered to be a term of racist abuse. See story below from The Daily Record: Blairgowrie pensioner ends up in court after calling a couple 'gypos' and 'minky tinks' in row over drum pad Mar 18, 2014 10:45 By Carla Callaghan TOM McDonald, 82, who set up the Blairgowrie, Rattray and District Pipe Band, was given a ?200 fine for verbally abusing a couple. A MAN once nominated for citizen of the year has been found guilty of racially abusing a couple by calling them ?gypos? and ?minky tinks?. Drum Major Tom McDonald berated the state of the couple?s garden and then launched into a tirade of abuse in a row over a drum pad. McDonald, 82, set up the Blairgowrie, Rattray and District Pipe Band and was nominated as Blairgowrie?s Citizen of the Year. He denied making racist remarks in McDonald Crescent, Rattray, on May 16 last year. Francis Drummond, 37, told Perth Sheriff Court McDonald got into a row with him over a drum pad lent to his daughter. Francis said: ?He was going on about the state of the garden. When he was walking away he gave the V-sign and said ? f*** you, you minky tink?. Sheriff Michael Fletcher found McDonald guilty and fined him ?200. -
Can you find out what language they speak? Then appeal on here for a translator who can explain the rubbish collecting/recycling system to them.

We have been here a few times and thought it was pretty good. http://campaign-paintball.com. One thing, though, you must be sure to warn your children that being hit by a paintball can REALLY hurt.

Agreed. Especially your last sentence.

After loud banging on the door the other evening, I opened the door to find an empty soft drink can on the doorstep and nothing else. I thought it would be quite a clever way to find out if someone is home. If the can is still there a couple of hours later, the crook would know that the house is probably empty.

I'm guessing the families of the three people who have been killed in this storm wouldn't dismiss its severity quite so lightly.

It has the same stems and leaves as statice (limonium) but I've never seen one with single flowers like this.

When I first got my dog from Battersea, she apparently "over-bonded" with me and howled whenever I left the house. My neighbours quickly let me know and I got in touch with the behaviourists at Battersea who recommended the following: Don't let the dog follow you around the house when you are at home. Regularly shut doors behind you and let the dog be on its own (not for long -- a few minutes is fine) in a room, but knowing that you are still in the house. Give your dog a treat, preferably something it needs to "work" at like a Kong toy stuffed with peanut butter, whenever you leave the house. These two strategies worked for us and we had a happy (and non-barking) 14 years with our dog. I have also heard that indoor dog cages are a good idea as they make the dog feel safe and not responsible for protecting the whole house while you are out.

Thanks for the offer. I'm okay for now, but if things go pear-shaped again, I'll be in touch.
