ha ha ha ha ha ha weeing on kids on the bus, thats the funniest thing I have heard this year. Tickled me pink it did. Its so wrong but it makes me want to have a willy.... Next time I am on the P4 and traumatised by noisy feral kids I will consider this as an option. Maybe 2009 should be a year for challenging rude behaviour, so I am right behind you BBW (all 5ft2 of me....)

My parents got hit in a supermarket carpark a couple of months ago, it was just a small bump. The driver just drove off. Stupidly for him, it was in front of CCTV, the supermarket had the tape. My parents got the police involved and they took it seriously as it was classified as leaving the scene of an accident. The attitude of the other person sucks, and if there was sufficient force to cause a scratch and you felt the impact then she must have known too.

Is it just me who has had bad luck with the banks...?
dita-on-tees replied to Lizziedjango's topic in The Lounge
I banked with citibank when I lived in Brussels, they were the only bank that would give me an account as their checks were less than rigorous... got rid of them as soon as I moved back to the UK as the service is shocking. Barclays recently took over an old credit card I have - good grief I never though paying off a ?15 bill from a DD I am too lazy to switch, would be such an ordeal..... In general. I only bank with mutuals as they are not hostage to the fickle fortunes from having shareholders and have restrictions on how they fund themselves. If size matters then nationwide are big and pretty good. Their current account pays reasonable interest - it doesnt have the best rates in the market - but high interest rates sometimes mean higher risk. Their call center staff are good 95% of the time and you can draw money out abroad commission free. If a mutual doesnt float your boat, then Abbey are much better these days - Santander has some really good customer policies which they are *starting* to implement over here. Cahoot does have a decent reputation with consumers be careful of price comparison sites - firms pay to be on them so you dont see the whole of the market (particularly insurance websites). hope everything works smoothly with the return of funds from the Icelandic bank -
any women with a career, own money and no kids in dulwich!?
dita-on-tees replied to angela2711's topic in The Lounge
Regardless of how I feel about mummies (yummy or not) or their sprogs (some well behaved and lovely some vile and wild) these are ladies who tend to support the local environment as they shop and seek entertainment locally. I live outside of East Dulwich and there are less mummies with a disposible income around and businesses really seem to suffer because of it, businesses that would thrive in ED because of a healthy day trade. Once I was allowed a day off work, so I had a potter round ED and it was bustling. On a night you have a different crowd and ED seems to offer a healthy mix of normal pubs and what I would deem "style bars", that latter with a little nose wrinkle. Lost Diamond Ring (1000 pounds reward if you find it)
dita-on-tees replied to miaoxin's topic in The Lounge
Not sure if you have already - but you could also try posting on SE23.com - the HOP forum - more chance of a local HOP person reading it. Hope you find it, I lost my mums engagement ring and was devastated - I did find it in the end - in a seem in my handbag. good luck -
does it give you tesco club card points..... In the end it is someone or something that values your contribution. do you feel proud of it?? I have a a lovely friend who has an OBE and he made great personal and private sacrifices and sometimes you need someone or something to recognise that. I dont think this is about monarchy anymore (thank heavens) but some sort of waah hey various people in Britain arent you great. In the end it can be quite a private thing - ie - you think ooh nice someone recognised my work or blah blah i got awarded by the queen for services to lycra and hip hop......

My deepest sympathy to the chap who lost his son to heroin abuse - it must be a terrible experience to lose a child to something so wasteful and pointless. And you are still living with the consequences of this, awful. I hope the situation with the threats resolves itself soon - for the sake of your grandchildren and the family. But jesus I am so surprised by some of the views here - this is a forum that gets itself in rebellion over chain coffee shops, overpriced babyclothes shops, estate agents and carbon foot print issues, but drug abuse and smuggling nahhhhh thats ok. Eh??? One of my big bug bears is middle class attitudes to "recreational" drug use. Well unless drugs are now being sold in John Lewis, organically farmed in sussex by a nice farmer called John, then where do we really think our money goes when we purchase drugs. The drug industry, and it is a huge industry, is happy to sell dirt cheap heroin to kids who have to sell themselves to pay for it. Middlesborough has the highest instances of under age prostitution in the country and guess what, the majority are on heroin or crack. More often than not prices are supplemented by the people willing to pay more for it - ooh all those nice people with a bit of charlie after the carbon neutral organic dinner party. Ok some dealer dont push class a but where do you think they buy their stuff from??? Not John Lewis. I dont know how anyone with a social concience can contribute to the demand for this industry - the money all flows to a small number of sources, and these people arent all that nice. and as for amanda - no I wouldnt vote for her, and I dont admire her honesty, in the way I dont admire anyone who admits to a horrible crime - are we so used to politicians lying to us we some how think the ones who are honest about their misdemeanours are some how better. And the sympathy of "what she has been through" - it was self inflicted - there was a choice somewhere along the line. Still you may make an ok politician - some of the last posts have a touching level of spin.... well thats me not able to attend any forum drinks.......

I can honestly say that my family are the most important people to me, and I dont even like some of them, however, I tread a careful line of criticism with xmas presents; spend too much - well thats your new fancy southern ways, spend too little well you're too tight with that over inflated salary, I buy gifts from Liberty's, Cath Kidston and Rococo and family assume TK maxx stuff...(it does look the same....) I say ban christmas, buy every one of those ungrateful s**ts a goat from oxfam and there will be less whining.....

New cheese stall at ED Warehouse
dita-on-tees replied to Mootown's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
despite some previous comments about the cheese block - i love it, and if you ask for a cheese that makes the owner tick ( apparently Liverot!) then you will be splashed with love and little extra bits and ohhhh try this if you like this you will love ..... but I am always happy to try something new, i love any thing strong and vaguely local, I think cheese, and more so beer, does not travel well.... so give me something glorious from Pwellhili above some thing mundane from Holland... Good luck to a welcome new business in the area.... Dx -
oh Nero you have brought back the horrors of gas... when i was 4 the local dentist took me and then my sister's back teeth out - just in case - we were put under gas and were zonked for hours. all I can remember was before they put you under they would shove a big black rubber funny tasting gum thing to stop you from clamping down so they could remove the teeth - it was awful. the 70s were barbaric, my dad was so upset as he had to transport two completed zoned and bleeding children home he cried for hours. I am still terrified of the dentist and have nervous patient written all over my files. personally I find perfect teeth odd and have a "thing" for slightly crooked bottom row teeth. If any prospective suitor should grab my jaw to examine the quality of my incisors, well they would be slapped....

I thought that was illegal - I am sure I did some training where you could use social networking sites as an excuse not to hire. I am sure people do it though. Anyway off topic - can we be lounged from the lounge. I like giddygecko - it creates a nice image of an off balanced lizard.

Why thank you Nero, I would insert a saucy little burlesque wink, but emoticon dont go that far.... I wonder are people more/less honest/inflammatory when they use pseudonyms.

page 2 public house (nunhead lane)
dita-on-tees replied to trytapas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
would have though there would be a reasonable demand for ale, though it can be difficult to store. I for one would happily empty to my purse for the pleasure of a pint of black sheep, or landlord, or the rev james or some of the fine fruity ales from northumbria..... I dont know how much freedom breweries allow you though. Live sport - agree is a difficult one - maybe good to have the big games but not become famous as a football/sport pub - I think as a "lady" it may put me off if it was always full of men shouting at the tv. The pub is big enough though to have a football zone and a non football zone. -
not strictly business but I rented one of their flats for about two years. Have too say it was the only decent flat I have ever lived in in London. I had a few issues but nothing untoward. The estate agent said Paul lived in Brockley somewhere but the estate agent said a lot of things... I demanded to meet him as I had had such hassle in the past with landlords and he met me, he seemed alright, certainly didnt look as if he owned half of Camberwell!

page 2 public house (nunhead lane)
dita-on-tees replied to trytapas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Like sean, I havent been here long enough to know the history of the place, but all sounds like good stuff and no doubt a welcome addition to Nunhead. I think i have said before that the food in Tapastry is rather yum, so happy to see it branching out in Nunhead. definitely keep the style of the pub, sometime I feel I am drinking in a branch of habitat by way of IKEA in some bars these days.... Maybe a bit of live flamenco style music or some salsa evenings would in keeping - the back room is big enough in the current Page two. Obviously I would love to see a bit of Burlesque cabaret but i feel it may lower the tone of the area and we wouldn't want that now...... good luck with the new place D -
I second Loz, Nationwide are great - you take your money out without charge anywhere in the world and I always get a better rate of exchange than my fellow travelers. Plus you get something like 4.5% interest on your account when in credit.

I may have been somewhat mislead (often the case) or it may be so obvious no one has bother to state it - but isnt hooters the chain with waiteresses with virtually or indeed completely bare american busoms? If so eeeeuuuuuughhhh that would put me right off my freedom fries dipped in mayo and ketchup.

Canary Wharf (best way to commute there)
dita-on-tees replied to katgod's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
P4 to Lewisham then DLR, takes about 40 mins, but is a bit more civilised than being squished on the Jubilee Line at London Bridge or Canada Water. The 185 tends to get stuck in Catford with A205 traffic. -
I had a vile experience in the Acorn in East Dulwich when I was buying my place. The estate agent bounded over as opened the door, shook my hand and actually sniffed me, took a great big inhalation and rasped 'hi my name is X and hmmmmm what is that perfume your wearing its divine' I was nearly sick on my shoes with horror. The people in Roy Brooks are lovely and quite honest, but in general I think Estate Agent baiting should be an Olympic sport - at least it is something the Brits could win at.

if someone were to play you in a film ...
dita-on-tees replied to mamafeelgood's topic in The Lounge
Hmmm Keira Knightley, then in a bid for northern gritty realism I would force feed her Fray Bentos pies, dumpling and endless bowls of steamed pudding and custard. After 12 long months of filming and scoffing she would be a right heifer and Hollywood just doesn't do plump, hence the world would be saved from her wooden vacuous performances forever... splendid.
