  1. I like the idea of putting them on the compost (does it actually do the compost any good?) .......... to try and put them to some use ...............
  2. Well - they're a couple of bottles of white. I've not opened them (yet), but they are very definitely old and a golden colour .......... which made me think they were no good. Will open one and see what its like.
  3. Having a pre-Christmas tidy up, only to discover at the back of the kitchen cupboard, a couple of bottles of wine, that definitely look corked to me (in that the colour of them doesn't seem right at all). Is there anything useful that can be done with it or it is a straight down the sink job? T
  4. Hi Thanks for the suggestion - but tried everyday for several days after the loss and they said that if it had been handed in by now ......... they were unlikely to get it ............ T
  5. Hall and Co. (opposite Dulwich Library) - the thing that usually bumps up the costs is stamp duty, which is very unlikely to be applicable for a piece of garden ...............
  6. Legal fees, searches, land registry fees - are in the hundreds not thousands of pounds league ............. it wouldn't be that much different from the process of house buying ............
  7. I don't have any better suggestions in terms of a formula, but surely the fact that both those sites (at those prices) have seemingly easy right of access and a piece of non-accessible, landlocked by other house/garden, piece of land, could be valued at something very different again.
  8. Just to add my tuppence worth ................. we tried exactly the same thing. Our neighbours garden was overgrown to the extent that they could bearly get out of the back door, so certainly weren't avid gardeners or in fact even went into the garden at all. We wrote the neighbour a short letter (not wanting to put the single lady under any pressure by putting her on the spot about it), making an opening offer for a rear portion of her garden, making clear that we were happy to negotiate - which would have made our garden L shaped. Unfortunately she didn't respond at all ......... so our offer fell on deaf ears........ and we have since moved. Perhaps my only word of advice (or caution) whichever way you want to look at it ............... is do try and be as careful as you can to preserve neighbourly relations ..... ours didn't break down, as she didn't speak to anyone in the first place, but would hate to think it might turn into anything ackward for the future.
  9. Abit of long shot but I am frantic ........... I lost a diamond stud ear ring this afternoon (probably around 3pm) either between London Bridge and Honor Oak Station or on a P4 bus from Honor Oak to the Horniman. Of massive sentimental value ........... if you happen to have picked it up or handed it in somewhere, I would be eternally grateful. Please PM me.
  10. I'm afraid I'd advise completely the opposite - have used several letting agents over the years, all pretty much the same. They have certainly not offered us any confidence at all in the tenants found (who have mostly turned out to be very nice), but the references in advance were so vague as to be meaningless and whilst I can understand that you might consider the distance a problem. With a laptop and the internet you can sort out most tenants problems from afar. At least then you don't run the risk of being ripped off twice, once by the letting agent and then having no choice but to use their tame (usually OTT) tradesman for any problems that arise.
  11. Am watching the Help for Heroes concert and whilst acknowledging (obviously) that it's all in a good cause and all that. Doesn't it seem totally flat? Loads of empty seats. A pretty disinterested crowd (cutting to the crowd only seems to mainly show beer drinking and folded arms). The comedians are obviously getting little back ................. what a shame ........
  12. Does he really/naturally have that Joe Pasquale-esq voice?
  13. Just seen Micky Flanagan (the comedian on Mock the week last night) in Peckham Rye Park - not sure if that counts ............
  14. I've been unimpressed by talktalk's customer service, which is why I thought I'd try and start from scratch for the whole lot. Loz - do you have an idea of what a SKy package all in might cost?
  15. My current deal (telephone, broadband and line rental) are with talktalk (originally tiscali), is it not easier to have everything with 1 provider? Is there any advantage to seperating them out?
  16. Hi Am looking into signing up for new telephone and broadband package (as minimum), and maybe TV too .................. but am being 'completely blind by science' by the comparison websites. All I think I want is a decent broadband service(don't do anything particularly spectatular online), line rental included or at least with the same provider, perhaps with some free calls thrown in, half decent customer service and the option to include some TV perhaps. All as cheaply as possible, obviously. Any suggestions/recommendations
  17. Abit of a long shot, but just wondered whether anyone happen to know of a similar website to this for the Bromley South/Bromley Common area. Will be moving there soon and will miss the EDF, would be great to find something similar?
