It's been said many times, I was in the Rye yesterday and was surprised just how many homos were in attendance. Fire is a bit of a shithole. The same music played over and over again while people get completely off their nut on K. Or maybe I'm just getting old.

LibraCarr Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Has anyone noticed the increase in rats since they > pulled the hospital down? Yep. The demoliation of the hospital resulted in the release of an infestation of rats under the hospital, which were living under the East Dulwich Site. They have spent a considerable amount trying to rid the problem, though how this affects the people around them, your guess is good as mine.

What to do about a non Pooper Scooper?
cdonline replied to Marmora Man's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I hear this aort of thing doesn't happen in Clapham -
You mean this Government is trying to unpick the previous council tax system, where they took one look at a street and banded the houses on a whim. Outrageous. And they're doing it secretly, so we have to worry that the data will be lost. Wouldn't want anybody knowing about my flower patch. It's a good job we have the Sunday Telegraph to investigate and tell us how it is.

Old Electrical Engineers For Lease -- What Should it Be?
cdonline replied to shoshntosh's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I was told that it was almost impossible for the property to get permission to turn it into a food establishment. If it would, it would have been already taken. As a shop or business, it's options are limited, therefore it continues to be empty. -
The flat I used to live on Peckham Rye came onto the market last year for the most ridculous price. I know the aim is to get as much money as possible for your property but this was so over inflated, it was a joke. I hear it was withdrawn from the market. There is a flat upstairs on the market that is on at a totally riduculous price. It looks as though it's been done up to a high standard, but nothing is going to hide the fact that the rooms are small. I can understand paying full whack for something that is top notch.

In my youth and sadly for a few years after that, I'd sleep with just about anybody who was up for it. I once made my English teacher fall on the floor at assembly, by putting one of the chair legs over a hole in the floorboards. After one bender, I ended up in crack house in South Africa. I left my Christmas presents for my parents in a coat check and was so out of it, I left them there. I had to give them second hands gifts I found in my flat.

There's not much to do at the Bus stop for the drivers except have a swift ciggie, unless they fancy a stroll round the cemetery. Can somebody sort out the people who think nothing of stinking out the bus with fried chicken carcus?

Just wondering if any of the books were suitable for a school library. Just occured to me that they might welcome donations.

Add to that list, the Catholic Church's continued condemnation of the use of condoms, even though they could save many lives of those infected with HIV, especially in Africa.

LadyBirds are pests (large number in and around the locality) (Lounged)
cdonline replied to derwent's topic in The Lounge
At least I'm not the only one. I had to call a friend as there hundreds nesting in the windows and me running round the room screaming didn't seem to have much effect. I also had to resort to a can of Oust, as I don't make a habit of keeping pest killer. It seemed a bit bizarre killing these creatures while the whiff of citrus filled the room. They're were loads of splatted ones in the crevices of the window where I'd closed the window. -
I may be wrong but wasn't it the Tories who first banned protests within a mile of Parliament, when it was sitting? The Labour Government revoked the law, but after protests such as the Country Alliance, who got into Parliament, changed it again. Protests can happen, just not when Parliament is sitting, there was one on Saturday protesting Human Rights abuses.

I'm sorry to hear about your terrible fall. I hope the physical injury and psychological damage caused to you will go with time. I too fell once, in Tescos. Of course, it was my own fault as I was eyeing up the cute guy in the next queue. The embarrassment still lives with me, as I struggled to right myself. Are you seeking damages? I imagine even a few thousand pound may not heal the trauma you have been through and to such a huge organisation as Sainsbury's, it will hardly dent their huge profits. I feel for you. I can almost hear the screams in my head now. Have you considered internet shopping?

Oh and the so-called High Street is awash with Nick Nack Shops. And if it's that great, how comes I can afford to live here.

Of Human Bondage. I thought it was a book I should probably read and I liked the cover.

Cos it's full of people trying to convince themselves, even if they could afford it, wouldn't live in Clapham. There's not even a Marks' Simply Food. We have to make do with a Somerfield that thinks it's Waitrose.

Question for long-term ED residents.
cdonline replied to Cassius's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The big difference has been the revitalisation of Lordship Lane and local bars and restaurant. Most of the houses are the same on the outside. My recollection is that the early 80's had a huge impact on the local economy with many businesses going under. Peckham used to have a very different Rye Lane with the chains like Marks and Spencers, BHS and C&A and the Co-op having three stores (I think). As well as Jones and Higgins, the department store and the antqiue shops near the park, including Austin's. The vast majority of smaller shops went under, only a few are still going, Regan's and the opticians are the only two I can think of. My perhaps hazy mind remembers Lordship Lane as being a bit second best. -
Is the Post Office Master against the closure? The compensation is reasonably generous and I wonder if it is welcomed by those who run some of the Post Offices.

I think it's not that bad an idea. If the problem is discouraging kids from smoking and that cigarettes are widely available to those under age, it is quite a neat idea. I haven't heard any other solutions that might work.

I was told, by a librarian, that a number of years ago, Southwark Libraries dumped/ got rid of 25% of its entire stock, without any public consultation. I certainly remember when I was at school that Dulwich Library had quite a good drama section. I'm curious where they all went.

I feel some sympathy for the girl. Who knew that under that blonde hair was the alien spam head shocker that we all had to see.

David Owen? Michael 'is she or isn't she' Heseltine, possibly.

I would probably just throw them into the bin. Unless I knew who it was and could judge the consequences of creating a fuss, I would let it lie. That's very wishy, washy of me, I think.

A hospital? As I have found out to my cost a couple of times. One time, I spent three days in bed following a bite, sought medical advice and got some kind of tablet. Vomiting, night sweats, hallucinating, the whole shebbang. Finally the doctor came round a second time and said, did I have any antihistimines in, and within half an hour, I was back on my feet, feeling fine.
