The Co-operative department store at the top of Rye Lane, had a travel agent, electrical dept, furnishings, a small bank ( I worked There). Next door was a small grocery dept. It also had a lift which was operated by someone in uniform. Across the road was a co-op chemist where the funeral shop is now and further down maybe where Asda is was the Co-operative mans store.
