school drop offs/picks ups when both parents work FT
Vick replied to Convex's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi We are in a similar situation although I don't work Friday's. Basically, we have a childminder in the morning, my husband drops the kids off at hers at 8am then heads to work. Our kids (5 and 6 yrs) then go to Afterschool club Mon-Thurs until 6pm and I pick them up from there. But, not sure if your school is the same, the waiting list for Afterschool club is long so I suggest getting your name down as early as possible. Holidays seem to work out OK, especially now Nimble Arts have extended their hours from 8-6. Hope that helps! -
Review of local polling stations, including Heber School
Vick replied to redjam's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Heber have declined to offer the school for polling for the referendum so an alternative location must have been sourced for June, so don't understand why they couldn't have declined for May as well. -
I'd invite admin and Louisa. And make sure I had plenty of popcorn in.

Hi Can anyone recommend any science fiction books? My brother in law has asked for one for Christmas but sci-if isn't my domain! Cheers Vick

Just recently they have had the barriers in operation in the evenings - utter chaos, the other night they had one barrier allowing people out of the station, the queue to exit went down the stairs...even though the priority was given to those entering the station the queue outside was still massive, just not enough barriers

Richard has recently re-decorated our lounge (which is essentially two rooms knocked into one). Both my husband and I are extremely pleased with his work. Richard completed the work on time, tied up after himself each day (even leaving the TV and sofa set up for nighttime usage)and was generally nice to have around. He also went the extra mile when the walls looked like they required an extra coat on top of what Richard quoted for, not only did Richard pop out on the Wednesday night to pick up more paint he was more than happy to apply the third coat without asking for additional money (he only quoted for two coats and other decorators we have worked with would have asked for more money). Richard also helped my husband move furniture as i am limited in what I can lift. I would definitely highly recommend Richard.

Nimble Arts holiday clubs - can you recommend them?
Vick replied to Bishberro's topic in The Family Room Discussion
That would be so useful, 5pm pick up is really tricky, I have to work from home those days to make it work and my work don't really like it which means my daughter only does a couple of days at Nimble Arts. Now if you run until 5pm she would be there everyday! -
I agree, James Barber is extremely hard working and has genuine conviction.

Nimble Arts holiday clubs - can you recommend them?
Vick replied to Bishberro's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Another endorsement for Nimble Arts. My 5 yr old (in reception class) has been going ever since last October and loves it. The days are well structured and well organised, my daughter always comes home with an entourage of art work. Last time she made a puppet theatre and puppets which my two daughters still play will now. Yes, it is a little pricey but not when you compare it to what a childminder may charge for a full day and if you book early you can get a discount, I just signed up for a week over the summer holiday and it worked out around ?38 a day which doesn't seem to bad to me. Even changing location for the summer holidays has not put my daughter off she can't wait/ -
Hi My eldest went to Gumboots and my youngest is still there. They both love it! The staff are very caring, the space is great, there do lots of extra things for the kids like pottery, gardening, Spanish lessons, yoga. My youngest goes Mon-Thursday and quite often on a Friday she asks if she can go to nursery. My eldest still enjoys going back and the staff always make a fuss of her. I would highly recommend it. Good luck Vicky

Just cold, hard cash. And Councils have so > little leeway these days, it's as if there's no > need for consent at all. I wasn't suggesting morality comes into the planning decision, I meant what about the moral position of a registered educational charity? I think the Dulwich Estate should reflect on their moral and social obligations, not just their legal nes.

Maybe it's a Lambeth hanger, we've a consultation on one in my street. I think they're a great idea.

Their pandering is because of oil. I don't think that they under estimate the brutality of the regime, and that makes it all the worse.

Hi I am looking for a childminder to provide wrap around care when my daughter starts Heber in Sept but I am having no luck finding one.I have also signed up to childcare.co.uk but again I have failed to find someone that way. Can anyone recommend any other way of finding a child minder, I have also asked ny friends to keep an ear out. Any advice? Thanks!

The poor bollard on the corner of Adys Road and Nutbrook Street
Vick replied to kford's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sounds like bad driving kford Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I followed a Peugeot estate that cut the existing > corner and would've scraped the bollard, had it > been there. It's just poor road design.
