This thread is the most unpleasant, tasteless crocks of rubbish I've ever read on here. It should be removed, or at least consigned to a new section labelled "Conspiracy Theories, Nuts and Weirdos." It makes my skin crawl.

Waitrose or M&S TYPE supermarket - do we want one on LL?
edcam replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There isn't really any room for a Waitrose surely? I doubt they'd bother unless they could find a place with enough room for a decent sized shop and car parking (and I can't think of anywhere that qualifies.) Same with M&S, unless it's just one of their food shops and they're at all the mainline stations. More independent shops please! -
I've got a great idea, why doesn't someone set up a thread taking the piss out of black people? Gays? Lesbians? How about the disabled - that would be really hilarious.

Jacky's Jukebox at the Rivoli Ballroom in Brockley, the first Saturday each month is one of the best nights out in London whether you're gay, straight, transexual, transvestite, young or old. Soome glam trannies there and your bog standard blokes in frocks, mixed in with old, straight couples and lots of gay and straight people of all ages. Almost impossible to describe but a brilliant and cheap night out!

Will anyone observe the 2 minutes silence today at work ?
edcam replied to Ridgley's topic in The Lounge
We did. but I did spend the first 30 seconds going "It's the silence now. Everybody be silent. Silence please"! Idiot. -
Overground to London Bridge, then Jubilee Line to Bond Street by FAR the quickest and easiest route. Bus to Elephant is fine if you're not too worried about time.

Waynetta, he sounds like a dick but were you hogging the middle lane without overtaking anyone in the slow lane? That can be quite annoying but doesn't excuse his behaviour.

Years ago I lived in Willesden Green (god help me) and I had to allow an hour and that was on the edge of zone 2. I have colleagues who work in Covent Garden, who come in from Kensal Green and Acton for example. Both zone 2 but so prone to problems that it almost always takes them the best part of an hour.

Con women claiming to be from Talk Talk?
edcam replied to Thomas Micklewright's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I feel for you medley. I'd advise them to cut to the chase and threaten them with legal action. -
Con women claiming to be from Talk Talk?
edcam replied to Thomas Micklewright's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Talk Talk are a terrible company and should be avoided at all costs. When my father died earlier this year and I cancelled his broadband account with them, they pestered my mother for months about supposedly unpaid bills. I had to threaten legal action to make them stop contacting her. Awful bastards with no soul or respect. -
OP - if it's a 20 minute journey for you to the train station, you don't really live in East Dulwich, do you? It would still take you 20 minutes to get there! Anyway, if you're sensible and time it properly, there are plenty of trains to get you the 12 mins to London Bridge, skip over the bridge and get the other overground 2 stops to Charing Cross and you can be in the West End 10 mins later. That journey takes 35-40 mins in total. Most people I know who live in North London take 45 mins-1 hr to get into work if they come from zone 2 on the tube. And the overground is much more pleasant than the tube!

Personally I'd prefer them not to actually be on the bus at all. On a roof rack or strapped to the back ideally...

Does anybody seriously believe that the choices are really Cheryl's? This is highly editorialised entertainment. Several producers and I'd imagine Simon Cowell choose the contestants to achieve maximum publicity/controversiality/longevity for the series. Whether people can sing or not is neither here nor there - they've chosen people who will get people talking, whether in an excited or outraged way. Cheryl and Dannii in particular are playing the role they've been given.

No it was a direct quote Rose. He said that he refused to watch it and that many older members of the Academy of Motion Pictures felt the same. Odd when admittedly earlier in life he said much more liberal things on the subject (although there are allegations that privately he was rather more bigoted than one would imagine.) partly a generational thing but disappointing from someone in the movie industry who made a career from playing the pretty object of another man's attentions and from dragging up!

He went down hugely in my estimation when he made some homophobic remarks a few years ago when Brokeback Mountain came out. Shame, because I used to like him.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's a troll. Don't feed him and he'll go away.

Axeman appears to be one hungry troll. Do not feed him.

Where in Rosie's post does she say the flat wasn't painted before she moved in? If that was the case then the landlord should certainly take care of it. But she didn't say that was the case, so it's fairly clear Louisiana that you are the one with the talking arse! Oh and apologies if my typo offended you *raises eyes to heavens*.

What rubbish! The tenant has the responsibility to keep things in good condition. Of course the landlord should cover reasonable wear and tear but it's not their duty to fix problems cause by tenants.

Party noise Friday night/Sunday morning
edcam replied to lemonellen's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Don't be such a killjoy! If it's a one-off thing, what's the problem? And if it ended at 2.20 why did you only get 3 hours sleep? Maybe you should have awarded yourself a lie-in! -
I don't have any problems with Virgin - it's great and very fast. Maybe it's a problem in your street?

I think it's time to call a ban on children in East Dulwich. I've been saying it for ages.
