Petition to stop development at rear of 20/21 Grove Park
edcam replied to Bloggsy08's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry, I am sympathetic to concerns over the conservation area but you should really post a concise explanation if you want to get people on board. Finding something way down a timeline on FB is like wading through treacle. And your post above is too convoluted. -

You seem to have made a fairly comprehensive assessment for someone who only signed up today!

I'm not quite sure what is lacking in your life that makes you resort to trying to pick fights over matters of little importance on an internet forum but it's all rather sad. FYI I don't really care enough about the ELL to obsess about it. It can open on time or 6 months late. Don't really give a toss either way! Just noticed you posted at 3.25am? That makes the picture clearer!

What are we supposed to be objecting to exactly? It would help if you could give us more information so we can make an informed choice. The petition link mentions "garden grabbing", not a phrase which it is easy to take seriously (along with a bad typo, which is also not helpful)but then talks about demolition of garages, so which is it? It may be that we agree with the objections but hard to know what they are! -

Does anyone apart from Undisputedtruth know what the journey time will be Denmark Hill/Clapham Junction?

I have only just become aware of this person and am rather shocked that he's still allowed to post here.

Yes - I wasn't even on a particular "side" of the argument and was subject to some rather unpleasant comments so think I shall avoid any further comment on the subject in case it fuels the (slightly odd) fire!

Not you, > apparently. Thank you for the information. Regarding your aggressive tone, I merely said that nobody could guarantee that the ELL would open at the (already delayed) projected date, a statement you now seem to agree with. I haven't asked for a cast iron guarantee. At the same time calling me ignorant and making bizarre claims. In relation to your earlier post, I am by the way perfectly calm, just not willing to be accept such rudeness without calling you out on it.

I agree the SLL is very useful. Do we know how many London Bridge trains and how many Victoria trains there will be after the changeover? I'm not up to date with the latest news. I know at one point there was talk of no Victoria trains at all. By the way I'm not interested in working out what type of person you are but just pointing out that it takes less effort to be civil!

By the way Undisputedtruth - you appear to get unnecessarily chippy when it comes to transport related threads. Are you some sort of angry trainspotter?

I'm not being doom and gloom about it, I want it to happen as soon as possible. I haven't seen the test train and don't know if that's a guarantee, that's all!

I do hope you're right. The last delay was very long indeed. It would be great to see this up and running on time.

PN33 - it's already well behind schedule so I wouldn't depend on the accuracy of 9th December. Hope it does open then though!

It is a definite problem - these unofficial "reviews" are necessarily completely subjective and one person's favourite establishment is another's "never again". I do think there is a major difference between a customer's criticism and a disgruntled ex-employee's. The big mistake for any establishment though is for them to lose their rag and issue an indignant and poorly written flounce in response, forbidding any mention of their name. As the OP states, others have responded to criticism with positive and mature steps to address any issues (without submitting to the whims of every bitchy complainant.) I wouldn't frequent an establishment that had the sort of attitude we have just witnessed.
