  1. Several unhelpful and unamusing tossers posting in this thread I see. Both places are nice, both very different. ED has more amenities, shops, restaurants etc. WD has bigger properties but less to do and is less well served by public transport.
  2. The queuing system never worked and that one guy who worked in there was charmless and constantly miserable. Otherwise the service was fine. The sausage rolls were unbeatable though.
  3. They were European? That narrows it down.
  4. I've never had problems like the above in Roullier White. Never once encountered pushy staff and have been in there countless times (and also hate pushy sales assts.) ED Deli was once nice but the miserable git working there eventually put us off, despite the great sausage rolls.
  5. It's just you Mr Ben.
  6. That is awful but how long do you leave your dogs at home for unattended? Perhaps you should consider a dog walker? Most dogs don't like being left alone for hours on end on a regular basis.

  8. I loathe UKIP. I would urge anyone to deface their posters. But buggering up a wall and pavement just makes you look like a dick.

  10. Some of the street "art" deserves at least a bit of pee.
  11. How dare he wear a suit and tie?
  12. Looks like quite an interesting building. Good luck to them. Not in East Dulwich though so not sure why this is posted here.

But Forest Hill is only any use if you live in deepest south of East Dulwich and already well into zone 3. If you're in the main but you're better off using ED rail station or Peckham Rye or Denmark Hill rail or Overground, both in zone 2.
  14. ToastEd - great food, wine and service. And unlike anywhere else.

Come visit Welling and see > how much "vibe" there is out here in Zone 4! Yes but with all due respect ED is not in zone 4 and is perfectly manageable with the transport links it has. Yes, frustrating sometimes but hardly underserved.

I think not having a tube in ED keeps it the right side of hectic.
  17. But a tube won't make an area "nicer" will it?
  18. Jeremy singling himself out as a real "man of the people" here.

  20. Did Patricia Routledge try and rob someone? Confused.....
  21. We all know where this will lead. We haven't had a Waitrose/M&S thread in a while.
  22. Eating on public transport is pretty unpleasant, for the eater and the viewer. But sometimes we have to. Avoiding smelly stuff is the polite thing to do.
  23. (a) There is nowhere to put one and (b) if there was land that was of a suitable size, it would be developed, no question.

Blatant blackmail. If that happened to me I'd put a note through the vendor's door, telling them the estate agent was limiting potential buyers.
  25. Well that's depressing. It has felt like it's had its day for a while now though.
