  1. Well he has to be somewhere at any given time. Why is this postworthy? I find this sort of thing creepy.

Same JohnL. The potential for disaster seems to grow every day.
  3. I knew that KK, don't worry. However, I'm with Sue. "Its " is the correct possessive pronoun, not "it's", which is only short for "it is" or "it has". It's a bit like "his" or "hers", a possessive pronoun all of its own. A common mistake but a mistake nonetheless.
  4. There is no hyphen in "hijacked". Sorry - couldn't resist.
  5. TBF you could tell from the first post that there was something off about this.
  6. "I'm an oxford graduate who's currently consulting for the United Nations" Hmm.
  7. There have always been some miserable, negative dickwads here but they're out in force on this thread.

Highly amused that Theresa May thinks the EU maintaining its integrity is "disrespect". Just hurry up and stop this farce.
  9. I did have a suspicion that this whole story was scaremongering. Urban foxes are pretty bold creatures, so this makes sense.
  10. Yes, it's Govia. their greed knows no bounds. The exorbitant cost of the Denmark Hill "modernisation", which represents some of the poorest value for money I've ever seen is symbolic of what they think of their customers. That combined with Network Rail's incompetence are the reasons for this mess. The Mayor wants TFL to take over these suburban routes. Whether they'd be any better at it remains to be seen but they couldn't really be worse. And TFL's response to the proposed reopening of Camberwell Station is disappointing to say the least.
  11. There are justified reasons to grumble about TFL but this is nothing to do with them. carole@woddis.com Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's called an improvement. A very fair summary! 13. The closure of CG caused unbearable strain on surrounding roads. Reopening it isn't going to create more traffic. nunhead_man Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > concerning the post that says > > "Paul Lupton Wrote: The sooner vehicles can use > the bridge again the better - Bellenden is overrun > with traffic " > > Say after me 100 times > > "Roads create traffic" > > e.g > https://bettertransport.org.uk/roads-nowhere/induc > ed-traffic
  14. But it's not a sop if we're not getting it. Our transport gets worse and worse as they build more and more flats.
  15. I was take in by a similar scam years ago. These ones are often successful because the scammers appear entirely credible. Discussion of how to get to King's is sadly irrelevant here.
  16. So thrilled that it's reopened! They've done a good job, looks much better. Life can return to normal now.
  17. I had the same experience when I was an outpatient in that dept. Frequent last minute cancellations and rescheduling months afterwards. They're clearly very understaffed.
  18. There were all sorts of offensive terms deemed acceptable years ago. You sound like a Gammon. uncleglen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I had to interview someone once and she was > accompanied by a woman in a burka.....the > experience left me believing it should definitely > be banned...and they were referred to as > letterboxes YEARS before Boris used it...
  19. Get a new lodger who is willing to be your unpaid slave.
  20. I have no time for Gammon apologists. I?m more concerned with the rise of the far right (of which Gammons are an unedifying symptom), racism, antisemitism, Labour?s lack of opposition and the looming disaster of Brexit. Gammons can sod off and pleasure themselves with the Daily Mail.
  21. Easy. Johnson's comments are unacceptable, particularly in light of his well-documented racist past, his sure knowledge that this would provoke and embolden the less savoury elements of the far right and this cynical push to set himself up as the next PM in this current unpleasant atmosphere. Not to mention the evident racist and misogynist undertones of his comments. It also presents a danger to women who do wear the garment. White men who get angry about anything that doesn't support Brexit doesn't compare. The people that qualify as Gammons will be offended by anything that wasn't white, straight and from before 1950. They have no idea what it's like to experience racism.
  22. Another Animal Friends fan here.
  23. Norwood Road Vets are great, especially for cats. The London Animal Hospital is superb. That's where we take our dog.
  24. Please stop calling them Boris bikes. I'd rather not be reminded of that dangerous oaf.
