  1. Turd removal, what a shitty job.

    Whisky Tips

I think they do whiskey tasting sessions at the Whiskey Exchange, in the Vinopolis building down by Borough Market, wonderful choice of whiskeys and very helpful staff.
  3. I don't have an issue with my bin collection, but the practise of leaving bins on pathways can be a nightmare for those with mobility issues. My former neighbour, a 95 year old who can only get around with a zimmer, is effectively left housebound on bin days as she can't move the bins out of the way to get past them. I tried reporting this on several occasions to Southwark but nothing changed.
  4. What ED needs is a tannery.
  5. I'm quite shocked there was ever funding for turd removal.
  6. The superfluous use of 'station' in the announcement which tells you which stop is coming up next, i.e 'the next station stop will be Swindon'. And... picking up my neighbour's kids' rubbish from my garden.
  7. Have you called to report it?
  8. They came round to me too and were quite persistent. Just tell them you don't have ladders to hand.
  9. I can't give blood because I had a transfusion back in the 80's, ironically enough.
  10. Don't forget that when living in a CPZ, you will need to provide parking permits to provide for trades if you are having any work done.
  11. Ejhturner: Being part of the pilot scheme, I've used mine for months and haven't had a fly problem. Are they those little fruit flies? Perhaps make sure the vent at the top is closed so they can't get in to the goodies, and make sure you don't overfill so the top is always secured down.
  12. Redjam: There is a 160 litre smaller green bin which you should be able to get. Like you I'm sticking with my blue boxes.
  13. Lol @ Mick Mac: Nice bait ;-)
  14. For those with less waste, there are options to reduce the amount of bins you now have: Recycling: Stick with the blue boxes, order a second if needed. They stack easily and take up far less space than the new large bin. This page doesn't yet mention the blue bins, but for those confused as to what goes in them, Council info here: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/10070/recycling Garden & food waste: Stick with the brown paper bags for garden waste if that suits your needs, and ask the council to take your large brown bin away. Order the larger brown caddy to put outside, it's about 2 or 3 times the volume of the kitchen caddy. Council info here: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/530/food_and_garden_waste Other waste: As James points out, you can get a smaller volume green bin - they look to be the same height and depth, just narrower so less of a footprint widthways. General info about the service changes here, including info about the new blue bins, here: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200377/service_changes_october_2011
  15. They came round my way delivering the blue bins this morning, lucky I was in as was able to tell them I didn't want one. A single box is usually enough for two weeks worth of recycling for me but I have a second to take any overflow. They stack easily and take up less space than a large blue bin.
  16. Recently, there's been a dog barking for hours around my way. It's a hysterical high pitched bark and I have to close windows because of it too. I like dogs, but incessant barking does drive me nuts.
  17. When we had a dog, I wouldn't have let it out to bark for an hour every evening. It would have driven me mad let alone anyone else. The owners may be lovely people, and the dogs may be happy dogs, but to leave them outside barking like that is inconsiderate.
  18. If you check out the window of the funeral place on Lordship Lane, near Northcross Rd I think, you can get coffins with similar designs. Oh, how I want one ;-)
  19. Bic Basher: I agree, Morrisons isn't at all bargain basement, though it does happen to be considerably cheaper than Sainsburys for a lot of the things I shop for. Considering its size, it does a pretty good range of organic products, and more unusual items like fresh turmeric. I didn't find Netto's particularly useful so quite welcome an Asda in that location. It's a fairly small site though so they won't be able to carry anything like their full range.
  20. IanR, I did wonder whether it might be the park man, but by all accounts he performs very regularly at @ 3 in the morning, and I've never been able to hear him from here before. Plus, this sounded very much like an amplified voice, so I don't think it is, though happy to stand corrected if anyone knows different for sure. It wasn't screaming, it reminded me of a muezzin though clearly wasn't.
  21. Lol, not Flo - it sounded a bit like a muezzin. No music, just wailing at gig volume.
  22. Did anyone else hear what sounded like amplified wailing last night @ 11.30. It sounded like it was coming from behind where I live, from the direction of Brenchley Gdns or across the Aquarius. It was really irritating. What on earth was it?
  23. Don't you have a large brown bin for garden waste, Ratty? This doubles up for both garden and food waste purposes. Just stick the food bags in there.
  24. Lol.. How much food waste do you expect to be producing and how large a bin do you want sitting on your kitchen countertop?
