  1. Yes, it is but they close earlier in the afternoon so check the times.
  2. I didn't get anything dropped through the door but I did take a look at a friend's leaflet. Apparantly, if I've understood the leaflet correctly, some areas are expected to get a poorer signal after the switchover and the recommendation is to go Sky / cable etc - bit rubbish for anyone unable to afford a monthly subscription.
  3. There's a skills swap already up and running. I recall someone posting details on the boards a while back but I don't remember the URL, sorry. Sure there must be someone on here who's got a better memory than me.
  4. I saw a line of bottles, all different shades from gold through to amber this afternoon, in one of the roads leading off from LL behind the bakers. They were lined up on a BT box. I instantly thought of this thread and pointed them out to my friend, lol. I'd say, definitely pee though strangely for a curious person, I had no urge to go confirm this for myself. I'm sure he'll know what street corner it was. As for someone living or working with no access to a toilet, why would you draw attention to yourself by leaving your stored up pee in conspicuous places? Surely they'd be far more likely to pour it down the nearest drain. My money would be on someone who feels compelled to save their urine until periodic urges dictate they go arrange them in a specific locations.
  5. If it were someone coming onto the same carriage as me every morning busking next to me for the duration of my journey, I'd be annoyed. Would I find someone playing outside the station as I'm walking by vexing? Not at all .

    The Shard

My OH was watching the construction through binocs recently when he saw one of the workers working on the top section slip, fall and dangle in mid-air from his safety harness until his co-workers hauled him back up.
  7. "A Tipper lorry used to park over night in Lordship Lane, it contained all the bones and offal from the slaughter houses, it was to be melted down and made into jelly for a nearby factory, in the morning when the lorry had left leaving the outline of it in moving maggots. No Mum thanks, can I have Ice cream?" My, how LL has changed ;-)
  8. I thought the point about jelly was the ability to sloosh it backwards and forwards through one's teeth.
  9. The vet I used when I lived in Brixton used to let their dog wander round the waiting area which I always thought was an additional stress for already stressed out cats. I like the look of the new surgery and they have some reasonably priced toys etc but the price per consultation is rather steep. I think they quoted me ?35. Can that be right, or is that for the initial 40 min consultation?
  10. Someone whose name I forget posted on here a few months ago posing about noise disturbance from a karaoke night in its pre-Rose days. If it were me, I'd be popping in to have a chat with the management today about the noise levels last night.
  11. As of yesterday, the buses appear to be running their normal route.
  12. Grey squirrels can carry a fair amount of reddish colouring. Of the several we used to get in the garden last year, one was distinctly gingerish, especially the tail which looked very orange with the sun shining through it.
  13. I get them coming into my garden. They queue up on the washing line waiting their turn on the bird feeders.
  14. I'd heard the same, Sophiesofa, but having had someone alert me to the cash I'd left in the machine, and been the person alerting someone else, it obviously stays hanging out long enough to make someone else's day. Undergran: I'm sure whoever walked away from the machine will have a warm memory of this weekend finding they haven't lost that money after all. Glad it was you that found it :-)

    Mice!

My cat caught a sticky trap once, he came home from nextdoor's wearing a skull and crossbones on his a**e.

    Mice!

My old place was in a victorian terrace in Brixton. Everyone had a mouse problem apart from us as our old cat was a champion mouser/ratter. That's where a good cat really come into its own
  17. Sent you a pm.
  18. Indeed we are a scary lot.. A german friend has described to me how to run a small-scale mouse farm which involves taking the fattest each day and gently euthanizing them before feeding to the cat. But I've balked at the killing jar.
  19. Curtains closed at night is a much better indicator that someone is in. It's also handy when you need to come downstairs to be able to retrieve something unseen, esp. if you sleep au naturelle ;-)
  20. Took the older cat into the vets for the second part of her jabs today. Was pleased he was also a proponent of the high animal protein/low carb foods, and he even mentioned Bozita as being high meat content. For anyone contemplating feeding raw, I found this information - extremely useful: http://www.petforums.co.uk/cat-health-nutrition/111455-thinking-about-raw-feeding-basic-guide.html
  21. That's good to know - I was worried about an explosion of suds flooding across the kitchen floor ;-)
  22. Bunged sheepskin in machine, put it on rinse to get it good and wet through. Bunged in capful of Woolskin and ran on normal 30 degrees wash. Double rinse and spin at the end. Laid out flat to dry away from direct heat. Sheepskin good as new :-)
  23. We have our very own Kelvington Kitler - neighbour's cat ;-)
  24. Ah, we must share the same pet-pleasing gene: I have a cat tree, crinkly tube, feather sticks, balls, paper bags, and various charity shop mini-teddy things sprayed with catnip and attached to bits of string, cheap to construct and the cats love them. mmmmm: I did check out Lilys Kitchen and it looks good food but bit pricey for me with two cats in the house, one of whom is still a kitten and wolfs everything in sight.
  25. Ah poor thing. Sounds like you're managing it well. Thomas had skin problems and turned out to be allergic to fleas and storage mites, possibly something else in his immediate environment as well, because as soon as we moved to a new place, his skin cleared up. I'm not recommending that as a solution though, lol.. Your behaviourist sounds really involved, good man. Glad you've managed to find something that's working. Teddies in the freezer could be alarming to anyone who finds them who doesn't know why they're there, lol - my OH reckons I've turned the living room into Cat Disney, and he does have a point ;-)
