  1. An ordinary spade will do the job.
  2. I had a vulture shit on me from a great height once. It didn't strike me as lucky at the time.
  3. "I don't think they're being mean to you. I think they're just describing you." Well put ;-)
  4. I have a friend who is desperately worried about her 15 year old who is very unwell with anorexia. Does anyone know anything about residential centres for treatment that take NHS referrals, I'm presuming some will have better reputations than others. She is considering St George's in Tooting.
  5. "If it's about missing cats or dogs I ignore them for 3 days - after which the animal has either returned home or has gone to meet its maker. After that they come down." Jobsworth of your own life, lol.
  6. Ear plugs are your friend. Wax ones.
  7. I went through a phase of passing drops of pure blood at the tail end of every pee, it was about 15 years ago. By the time I'd been fixed up with a hosp appt to investigate, it had cleared up. I'm still here. Does that help? It may well be cystitis, as PaulK has said, you'll know soon enough.
  8. I moved to Nunhead/Peckham Rye about 6 years ago after 14 years living in Brixton central. Things I miss are my old neighbours, and proximity to the Lido, the Ritzy, the Rec, and the Tube for getting into town but Brixton is just a short hop away on the 37. Things I love about here are how much more open, green and relaxed it is, the views and the sense of cleaner air. Can't really comment on the night action because nightlife is no longer on my agenda but the Bussey Building activities look promising.
  9. I've used Southwark and Lambeth, the Lewisham group too.
  10. Looks like there was only one app for handwriting to text conversion as of August last year according to this article: http://www.examiner.com/review/ipad-gets-handwriting-to-text-ocr-thanks-to-the-7notes-hd-app
  11. I'm a relative iPad novice too. The Apple Store has a section for iPad apps - some free, some you pay for - but I don't find it easy to find things on there. Best to Google, I think. Here's some promising looking results: https://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&tbo=d&sclient=psy-ab&q=ipad+app+stylus+note+taking&oq=iPad+app+stylus&gs_l=hp.1.1.0l4.1769.5596.0.10461.15.10.0.5.5.0.176.1322.0j10.10.0.les%3B..0.0...1c.1.VcQARpcZEy8&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bvm=bv.1355534169,d.d2k&fp=def9f3f538eb70d&bpcl=40096503&biw=1366&bih=621
  12. Point being there are specific areas where dogs need to be leashed, and should be. The area around the cafe is not one of those areas, is it?
  13. No idea what an energy light tube is, can you be more specific? I googled and found one product that might be what you mean: It was sold as lasting 8 times as long as an incandescent equivalent, and was guaranteed for 1 yr. Perhaps your bulbs had a similar guarantee, in which case, you should be able to get the money back on some of them at least.
  14. It's a nasty autoimmune condition, not a lifestyle choice.
  15. According to TFL, the strike will only affect the bus routes listed in the linked PDF. I've no idea which areas these routes service.
  16. Really sorry to hear about your friend, e-dealer. Yes, it's not improbable that a good proportion of ME/CFS cases have been misdiagnosed as there's no obligation to run anything other than basic bloodwork to check for anaemia, thyroid/liver issues etc so it ends up being one of those wastepaper bin diagnoses. The ME diagnosis has been around longer than the 70's and is classified by the WHO as a neurological condition with its own ICD code I believe. Esther Rantzen was busy spouting off about it for a while because her daughter was diagnosed with CFS but she turned out to have Coeliac Disease. Someone I know of was left to rot for many years until he was eventually diagnosed with Behcets Disease.
  17. C'mon Green, it's not hard: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/bus-services-affected.pdf Thanks for the heads up, Reeko.
  18. Ah, the perfect thread for bringing out the bigotry in people.
  19. There's a new primary school being built just off Inverton Road in what used to be the garden of the special needs school.
  20. I struggle to understand the mentality behind dumping animals this way - although when I was a girl we had a neighbour who dealt with his cat's litters by drowning them in a bucket of water - it seems both cowardly and heartless.
  21. Having moved here from Brixton about 6 years ago, the helicopter activity seems quite rare by comparison, and I've only noticed them the last couple of years or so.
  22. "Mink, Voyageur said that, not me! Check your facts!" Lol, yes I just noticed it wasn't you. Doh ;-) Must be the insomnia.
  23. "OP does seem to be a ruse to flog summat and/or get people to peruse a webiste, however...." What, a kidney bean? It's just a link to an article about pressure points which are supposed to assist sleep. Tsk, Jeremy, check your facts.
  24. Having been in relationships with 'complicated' people in the past, I'd say - not knowing you of course - that you've probably compromised the person you used to be out of existence in order to make this work for eight years. I doubt there is anything you can say or do that will change the way things are. Life is so short, get out now while you still can, while you still have some sense of self. I'm sorry to be so blunt, others have put it a lot better.
  25. Reinstatement of the night noise team.
