  1. thanks so much for all these tips - have been trying them all and they have really made a difference! many thanks xxx
  2. by the way, i'm pretty sure he doesn't have a vomiting bug as he only vomits when he is trying to cough up the phlegm. thanks
  3. a back belt helps support the back and i found it did lessen my back pain during pregnancy. i got mine from my physio but you could try somewhere like boots/a pharmacy. a physio can advice you where best to place it to deal with your particular back pain. i had a problem with my sacro-iliac (sp?) which meant i had to wear it as low as possible.
  4. hi there, my 2 year old is recovering from a cold and is very congested (lots of phlegm stuck at back of throat, especially when he wakes up). this had led to him vomiting 3 times in the last 24 hours while trying to clear his throat! does anyone have any suggestions please? we have a snot-sucker (!) and use karvol to help him breathe at night. the main problem is that he can't clear his throat (and doesn't know how to blow his nose) and while trying to cough up the phlegm he vomits - this is always soon after he wakes up. any advice very much appreciated, many thanks x
  5. hi james please can you tell me why southwark council is no longer removing dog/fox mess promptly and what the new policy is exactly? i emailed on 18 oct and 22 oct about dog/fox mess that needed to be cleaned up. despite my 2 emails to the council, by the afternoon of 26 oct this still hadn't been cleared up (8 days later!!!!!), so i had to clear it up myself. whilst i regularly pick up rubbish on my street, i would rather not pick up other people's dog mess. please can you explain what is going on and why no one seems to be picking up dog mes anymore? thanks

Many thanks for your input regarding the kids play area in Peckham Rye Park.
  8. good idea but would need an escape proof child area for the toddlers! is there an area in the plough that can easily be sectioned off as a play area? thanks
  9. hi james in the last 2 weeks, water has twice been cut off to Landells Rd and Goodrich Rd. This has been due to gas repair men damaging the water pipes. once is unfortunate, but twice in two weeks is ridiculous. can something be done about this, eg get competent people to do the gas work??? thanks for any help you can give. link to thread about today's water cut: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,736538,736638,page=1#msg-736638
  10. none on landells rd for the last 20 mins.
  11. renata/gavin - what happened to the fencing that was removed from goose green? - i recall the middle fence being removed and i assume that it has been kept like that. i believe that goose green falls under the peckham rye ward (pls correct me if i am wrong!) so could that fencing be re-used? at the time, a big thing was made of saying how that fencing wouldn't go to waste and would be re-used.
  12. we sprinkle karvol on a muslin and put it in the cot for our toddler. you can also get karvol plug ins i believe (menthol smell which makes breathing easier).
  13. thanks molly. i do wonder what has happened to the old fencing??? if its still useable, then that would reduce the re-fencing cost. a little bit of make do and mend?
  14. james - in the Family Room Discussion, there is a thread about the new peckham rye one o'clock club and the lack of fencing. i'm not sure why they got rid of the old fencing and they seem to be saying its down to cost. however i would have thought that toddler safety should have been high on the agenda, particularly as a number of parents have said that they are worried about the lack of fencing (problems of e.g. fast cyclists and dogs being able to get in the play area). is this something you could get involved in? i appreciate its not your ward, but many of us east dulwich parents use the one o'clock club. many thanks
  15. gavin - what was wrong with the old fence? why get rid of the old fence as its seemed fine and very, very useful?
  16. agree that there are too few 37s!!
  17. A big thank you to the lovely person who found our toddler's missing shoe and left it on a front wall on Landells Rd. Lost it over 2 weeks ago so really surprised that it turned up. Much appreciated xxxxx
  18. love the photos - absolutely gorgeous little baby!

  20. i always took the 12 bus to oxford circus. the bus seemed to lull my little one to sleep, but he is getting too old now and is able to make himself stay awake! as you probably already know, john lewis has a nice parents room where you can heat milk/sit and feed/breastfeed and they have changing mats.
  21. sophiesofa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- no 12 bus > get on first stop instead of the second as you might > not get a seat. where is the first stop for the 12 bus when starting from oxford circus? have always wondered this as the stop i use seems to be the 2nd stop.

  23. cute names! many, many congratulations and enjoy all those lovely newborn moments xxx
  24. ikea do great ones that are machine washable - waterproof with a big pocket. very cheap too (about ?3 for 2 i think! last forever) could you use febreze on your ones to get rid of the smell?
  25. agree an afternoon session would be great. soft playin ED would be really good, especially as i have been put off going to the one at peckham pulse by some of the the things i've read about it.
