hi. i have to use gaviscon infant for reflux, but sometimes it clogs up the teat - this is even though i don't heat the milk up too much (only to room temp, not hot). last night poor baby sucked for ages until i realised that it was a bit clogged up, so milk was coming out slower than normal. gave a new bottle but then he was too tired to take the rest of the milk!! any tips much appreciated xxx many thanks

i actually found that best thing for baby smelling nice is a quick bath each morning (rather than evening) - smell nice all day then. -

i use an organic wash thingy i got from john lewis when i did my big pre-birth shop! i use it about once a week to wash the hair (from birth) as have to put olive oil and various creams on head for cradle cap. i use oilatum in the bath for eczema and that's it. -
how could i forget the wonderful 'Mog'!!!
-
yes i misunderstood the book club thing as well!! i love 'the tiger who came to tea'. my other half loves 'where the wild things are' and 'harry the dirty dog'.

yes alison is lovely when you are trying to book the course. the nct courses are fab - very informative and invaluable i thought. the places do get booked up very quick though.

many thanks for the replies. i love my bugaboo bee and find it easy to get around shops and on and off buses, so i think i will probably continue to use that. but would love to have a 2nd pram to fit in the car boot - that sounds a great idea! great if just nipping out in the car and saves the trouble of folding the bee, taking it down the street to wherever i managed to park the car and then getting baby, and then doing the same all over again when i get home!

gosh i am also reading this avidly for tips, even though mine is only a few months old!!

thanks for the responses. i have a bugaboo bee at the moment which i love and i wonder if people carry on using those? i guess i will have to see and try out some of the stroller type prams and see how they compare. many thanks once again x

Hi there I'm just wondering what 2nd pram people would recommend please? I get the impression that a lot of people go for McLaren?? And if so, which model would you recommend? Also, what age did you start using it (when baby is sitting up??) and did you find it better than the first pram you had? Any advice much appreciated, many thanks in advance x

you poor love xxxxx wish i could give you a hug. the 'NCT Competitive Mothers' quip had me tittering. great new title for them! was he an 'accident' and are you living with your mother - the blooming cheek! i meet with a group of mums most weeks - next time i am going i will pm you with details and maybe you could come along. its good to get out and have a natter. i ditto what someone said about trying to get outside, although it is hard when you are knackered. the fresh air and sunlight do give you a boost and are good for the body and mind. i think you said a caeserian and was finding it hard to get out - have you managed to get a better pram and how are you finding it now? there is a new parents group at townley rd clinic on mondays 1pm - 3pm i think - great for meeting other new mums. hang on in there and do come onto the forum for supprt whenever you need it. thinking of you xxx -

poor you. as you say he settles to sleep well during the day, could you take the dummy out as he is dozing off - so he has it to settle, but it comes out before he is fully asleep. i have heard that works sometimes. he still is quite young and all babies go thru good and bad patches i think, but that doesn't make it any easier. i would agree with the person above who says to get ear plugs and takes shifts in looking after him. there is no point both of you being awake. but if you are breastfeeding and its milk he wants, will he take an expressed bottle from your partner? lack of sleep is very hard and utterly exhausting. let us know how it goes xxxx -
hi there can anyone recommend a good first cup to get? i have heard that some non-spill ones are really hard for baby to sip from?! also, what age did you start using it? many thanks for any advice xxx

st christophers hospice charity shop (lordship lane opposite somerfield) takes baby and children's clothes and they sell them in the boxes by the window. the money goes to a good cause.

Fatherjack, you have my support. Well done for your input. Disgraceful behaviour from the shop. The poor woman. -
as you mention there is cholestasis so see your doctor. on the other hand, i felt extremely itchy throughout my pregnancy and it was just due to the increased blood flow in the body making the skin more sensitive. i used diprobase cream to moisterise daily and cool my skin (very good on my itchy feet!!). i also used piriton, although this was prescribed due to eczema (although i had lots of other itching that was not the ezcema patches - hope that makes sense). piriton takes a slight edge off the itching but you need a doctor's advice before you take it in pregnancy. the diprobase cream was very good though (also from the doctor). quite honestly it drove me mad so you have my sympathies. but sounds like not long to go x

what awful behaviour from the shop assistant! -
my little one has always been worst in the evenings. much much worse than during the day. i've figured out that he is just tired after the day and all the stimulation, going out, playing etc. at night, i would feed him and try to get him straight back to sleep, so overall he was getting a lot of sleep during the night hours. in the morning first thing he is in such an unbelievably good mood normally! during the day, mine would have good naps, but still be shattered by early evening after all the day's activites. definitely chill out with your other half and watch some tv! mine is so used to the tv in the evening that he can fall asleep with it on when it comes to bedtime! yet any 'unusual' sound will wake him because he's not so used to it!

err... well i do pretend voices all the time even though baby ko is only 4 months old and can't request it yet!! my favourite is doing voices for the cats and pretending they are talking to baby ko!!

hi. baby ko has eczema. no surprise as mummy suffers a lot from it. i've heard many a time that you can put oats in a sock/muslin and swish it in bath water. my question is - do you use new oats each time? and how much should you use? silly questions really, but any tips would be appreciated! many thanks in advance xxx
