Any signs of World Vegetarian Week (19-25th May) in ED?
demery replied to snoozequeen1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
ps Did you know that the word vegetarian, originates from the old indian word meaning "bad hunter" -

commondreams - 10 reason's to go veggie site - represents an ill informed, unbalanced and biased point of view. It's polemic propoganda and things are not nearly as simple as the site makes out. That said, I regulary eat veggie and might doff my veggie cap to ganapati to mark the week -

Any know on what basis the stars are given out? If it's like the hotel system 5* is not necessarily better than 4*. Could be one place has more dishwashers than the other?!

Apparently it's closed until further notice. I'm not surprised as it was always empty, food very average (if cheap) and in need of a bit of a face lift. Personally, I think it could make a killing as more of a bar than a restaurant. Keep the mexican theme food wise - a few burritos, nacho's and a few screen for the football and you'd be laughing. Anyone know what's happening there?

EDF Drinks - Friday 9th May at The Magdala - Tonight

ANother newby - hope to pop in for half an hour tonight -
If you know what you're looking for, I cam recommend ordering bikes and kit from wiggle.co.uk http://www.bonthronebikes.co.uk or www.probikekit.com After that use a local shop for servicing and other goods. It's definitely a good idea to purchase a few things from your local dealer, even if they can't match the price of bikes from online specialists. good luck!

Evil corporation scare mongering posts on here usually have all the credibility of your average football transfer rumour. I worked for M&S for years on the store expansion programme amongst other things. They never had any intention of moving into SE22 - even as a Simply Food or BP Simply Food. There's no shortage of posts on here about that. I wouldn't worry about moving out just yet

I'll scope the route tomorrow and will leave the puncture kit well alone for the time being. Have mobile phone and a taxi number at hand should the worst happen!

Excellent stuff! I'm thinking of heading from ED through the parks to Crystal Palace and back tomorrow if you're up for it. btw I also need to learn how to repair a puncture!

Newby cyclist looking for others to cycle with. Not sure I'm quite ready for www.dulwichparagon.com just yet. So if anyone would like to head out for a hour or so tomorrow evening, drop me a line. david

If you want to track changes in the asking prices across the uk, you can use http://www.propertysnake.co.uk/ If you want to track achieved prices, there's lots of websites where you can obtain UK Land registry information. Both are vital for anyone wishing to sell or buy. FYI The figures on propertysnake for se22 make for interesting reading. Stuff that's been on the market for a long time (upto a year) has been savagely reduced, by up to 30%. Recently marketed properties seem to have been reduced less and suggest more realistic asking prices. As to what will happen, that's anyone's guess. Those hoping for a severe crash have short memories. Some people lost everything in the early 90's and many lives were destroyed. I for one wouldn't wish that on anyone. Yes it's tough for first timers, but most those who have entered the market in last couple of years have often had to stretch themselves. I'd imagine most of them are not city fat cat, red brace wearing, hooray henry millionaires. Most would be hard working, young middle classed people, looking to start a family in the area. I'd wager a few even buy the Guardian. :-)

Seems to me a prime opportunity for the forum and community to give some feedback and support to the owners. I recently returned to The Seacow, after the owner promised improvements after reading complaints registered on here. Guess what? He had made the improvements and things are looking up again. So, what we would like to see in Inside 72 and what improvements could be made ... e.g. Music quiz, football screen for mon nights, films showed, suggestions on easy to do simple food. How about a forum drinks night there? The place will only thrive if the locals like it and support it. I'll be popping in for a pint this weekend david

Thanks Paul. On the back of that I'm prepared to give it another go. For the record: on my last two visits the cod portions were tiny as were the chips. The batter was soggy and fish was filled with oil. The first time I put it down to an aberration, after the second poor meal I haven't been back. That was more than six months ago. Like others, I've since been going to Olley's. Whilst we're in the middle of a feedback frenzy, any chance of curry sauce or gravy to satisfy my northern taste-buds?

The lack of water supply explains the paper plates and wooden knifes and forks. I think it's a real shame. The food is great and it's lovely place to relax and wind down. Let's hope it get sorted. Is there anything that can be done to help out? I'd hate to see it close down

Aside of traffic light phasing issues and extra delays that may be caused, my main concern is the additional noise. Cars, buses, lorry and motorbikes make far more noise pulling away from the lights. I've just purchased a flat above the parade of shops which I'm now thinking was mistake. Oh, and another thing, traffic sitting there stuck in queues, stopping and starting, is generating far more pollution than traffic moving through at a steady pace. Far better solutions could have been found. a 20 mile speed limit through the parade would mean getting out of the side road would be much easier

Won't go down well with some here, but I once met somebody in Caffe Nero, over coffee and cake. Years of taking Penguin classic and a newspaper finally paid off. Well, at least for a couple of months. That said, she loved the area so much she did move here.d

Has anyone used Foxtons introduction 0% sale fee (Lounged)
demery replied to rogertebbutt5k's topic in The Lounge
my main concern will be the abundance of wates, ludlows and foxtons cars parking up and down. i don't mind if they're spread out a little, but the last thing i want to see happening is resident complaints leading to parking permits in the area -

Taken out of context. The point being that with branches all over London, they'll be looking to bring people who perhaps had not previously considered ED into the area, from further afield. e.g Islington -
