I've just seen (drove past) some kind of pitbull with badly inured cat between its jaws. It was getting shaken and mauled quite badly and not really moving. Last seen at junction of Underhill Rd and Lordship Lane. The dog then took the cat up the alley way by that junction (on the underhill road side of the road). The dog's young owner, brown hair curly eyes, possible wispy tache and a parker type jacket looked panic and was chasing after the dog. If anyone's cat is missing, you may wish to check the alley way to see if it's injured. d

I did raise a question about Jacqui Smith's ?116K expenses which was roundly ignored by the panel. They seemed more concerned about which was the primary residence and whether she'd broken the spirit of the rules. ?116K people. And she stays in one room at her sisters house. If she comes out of it this scot free, I want to be first in the line to rent a room to the next MP moving to ED.

New school in the heart of East Dulwich!

For the record I went to a Catholic high school, was brought up CoE. To be fair, it was never forced upon anyone at our school, no matter what race or religion you were. I can remember being shown a Turin Shroud mirace documentary. How I laughed when they accurately carbon dated it. My RE teacher also believed men were on the earth at the same time as dinosaurs. I think he'd seen one too many Doug McClure Land that time forget adventuress. Anywway, it was all quite a fluffy cucumber sandwich, tea and easter bonnet type approach. There was no evangelical right and christian fundamentalists weren't yet attacking doctors and scientists. NB emphasis on the mental in fundamental -

The point is that faith schools should not teach creationism or intelligent design as accepted science or fact. When it is neither. It is clearly a religious view and should be kept as such. The curriculum should reflect this. These lot used to teach the earth was flat and it was heresy to think anything else. You wouldn't want that taught in schools and the principle is exactly the same. Evolution is one of the most widely supported and accepted theorys in the scientific community. It is supported by masses of evidence and peer group reviews. Nothing of the like can be said for ID or creationism. Both are unfalsifiable, which means they should not be taught as science. Rant over. -

http://www.pennywiselearning.com/ACE-School-of-Tomorrow.html gives some background on ACE (now rebadged as ICCE) If you look around, they're an intolerant bunch as far as the gay community goes too. -

The ICCE qualification teaches creationism come intelligent design. It's simple as that. If it comes down to it, I'll picket the place. This approach to education was thrown out in the US (by a Bush appointed right wing christian judge). We should do the same. -
Damn, I've been thinking it's the right time to open.

an hour and a half to shepherds bush - were you walking? backwards?! ;-) I used to drive to Stockley Park near Heathrow and it generally took about 70 mins door to door, less at the crack of dawn. I'd lived in Clapham before and moving to ED definitely made the journey worse. I never once had any inclination to move back to Clapham! I currently work in the city or at home. A couple of minutes on the Brompton to Lordship Lane for lunch is sweet! City by Brompton is about 25 mins, without too much of sweat -
I popped in at lunch time and they're on target to open tomorrow. It's looking ok too

tongue in cheek? two meat references in three words, good going. PCG - no slur on millwall intended, merely addressing a stereotype with a stereotype. Although, I assume there's not a great selection of veggie fair at the new den? -
word on the street is that the east dulwich veggie collective are banding together to form a not for profit tofu burger bar and will take over the lease. rather than gambling your dough on the slotties, it'll now be 50/50 as to whether you come out feeling full or not ;-)

Hey James Don't think anyone was suggesting meat eating makes one more virile, clearly it has positive effects on ones sense of humour though. Eating meat can be part of a healthy lifestyle. And as far as empathy for animals, don't confuse animal rights with animal welfare. So far on this page, meat eating equates too 1) A lifestyle with blatant disregard for one's own health, the welfare of animals or the welfare of the planet 2) Personal grooming bias towards skin heads and tattoo's 3) Having a fat gut In that case, I may as well get a Millwall ticket and drive weekly to the ground in a Hummer, as I've been known to eat Foie Gras and am certainly pro vivesection. Suspect that's a debate for another thread though! For what it's worth, my favourite veggie restaurant is Kastoori in Tooting. Fantastic indo come sri lankan food at bargain prizes. Something similar would go down a storm on LL I'm sure -

To quote Dennis Leary "Eggplant tastes like eggplant....but meat tastes like murder and murder tastes pretty God damn good, doesn't it?" I'm certainly no bullet headed tatoo merchant eiterh and generally only eat in moderation. However, I'll take umbridge with anyone who tries tell me chickens deserve the same rights as humans ... -

I heard the chucks are breaking out the champagne down at the battery farm. Those fine folks from the Croydonvegetarians.co.uk know how to celebrate too. They're having a vege Beat the Banger competition in conjunction with the local buddhist group Seems Croydon is the vegetarian epicentre for the week. http://www.croydonvegetarians.makessense.co.uk/news/1883.html
