  1. I've just seen (drove past) some kind of pitbull with badly inured cat between its jaws. It was getting shaken and mauled quite badly and not really moving. Last seen at junction of Underhill Rd and Lordship Lane. The dog then took the cat up the alley way by that junction (on the underhill road side of the road). The dog's young owner, brown hair curly eyes, possible wispy tache and a parker type jacket looked panic and was chasing after the dog. If anyone's cat is missing, you may wish to check the alley way to see if it's injured. d

  3. I did raise a question about Jacqui Smith's ?116K expenses which was roundly ignored by the panel. They seemed more concerned about which was the primary residence and whether she'd broken the spirit of the rules. ?116K people. And she stays in one room at her sisters house. If she comes out of it this scot free, I want to be first in the line to rent a room to the next MP moving to ED.
  4. For the record I went to a Catholic high school, was brought up CoE. To be fair, it was never forced upon anyone at our school, no matter what race or religion you were. I can remember being shown a Turin Shroud mirace documentary. How I laughed when they accurately carbon dated it. My RE teacher also believed men were on the earth at the same time as dinosaurs. I think he'd seen one too many Doug McClure Land that time forget adventuress. Anywway, it was all quite a fluffy cucumber sandwich, tea and easter bonnet type approach. There was no evangelical right and christian fundamentalists weren't yet attacking doctors and scientists. NB emphasis on the mental in fundamental
  5. The point is that faith schools should not teach creationism or intelligent design as accepted science or fact. When it is neither. It is clearly a religious view and should be kept as such. The curriculum should reflect this. These lot used to teach the earth was flat and it was heresy to think anything else. You wouldn't want that taught in schools and the principle is exactly the same. Evolution is one of the most widely supported and accepted theorys in the scientific community. It is supported by masses of evidence and peer group reviews. Nothing of the like can be said for ID or creationism. Both are unfalsifiable, which means they should not be taught as science. Rant over.
  6. http://www.pennywiselearning.com/ACE-School-of-Tomorrow.html gives some background on ACE (now rebadged as ICCE) If you look around, they're an intolerant bunch as far as the gay community goes too.
  7. The ICCE qualification teaches creationism come intelligent design. It's simple as that. If it comes down to it, I'll picket the place. This approach to education was thrown out in the US (by a Bush appointed right wing christian judge). We should do the same.
  8. Damn, I've been thinking it's the right time to open.
  9. Well the coffee's good ...
  10. redrouge - why would you not take the train to wimbledon from peckham rye?
  11. an hour and a half to shepherds bush - were you walking? backwards?! ;-) I used to drive to Stockley Park near Heathrow and it generally took about 70 mins door to door, less at the crack of dawn. I'd lived in Clapham before and moving to ED definitely made the journey worse. I never once had any inclination to move back to Clapham! I currently work in the city or at home. A couple of minutes on the Brompton to Lordship Lane for lunch is sweet! City by Brompton is about 25 mins, without too much of sweat
  12. I popped in at lunch time and they're on target to open tomorrow. It's looking ok too
