I haven't read the whole of this thread so my apologies if it has already been covered, but is it being proposed that there should be double yellow lines either side of dropped kerbs throughout the borough and not just in CPZs? I am also concerned that Southwark intend to devote a great deal of scarce capital expenditure to "parklets" when there are much greater priorities, such as repairs to pavements. I have tripped over uneven pavements twice in the last few years, on one occasion fracturing my shoulder and subsequently having to undergo two operations. I know that I am only one amongst many who have suffered in this way.

Singalto, the decision will be made by a Southwark Council Cabinet member, not a Government Cabinet Minister. It has nothing to do with Brexit, HS2 etc. Having said that, my confidence in the Southwark decision making process is pretty low, judging from my experience in dealing with the Council during the past few years.

I agree that there should be a pedestrian crossing between the Barry Road and Townley Road junctions, ideally near the Crystal Palace Road bus stops. I regularly cross the road near the Forest Hill bound bus stop and it is often very dangerous.

Walking past this Mr Liu today, I noticed that it was closed. I'm not sure whether this is because extensive repairs are being carried out or whether the closure is permanent. Does anyone know?

TfL plan to reroute Bus 40 away from London Bridge

I am strongly against the proposed rerouting of the 40 bus. -

I am half Jewish so don't take kindly to antisemitism on a public forum. I may be wrong but isn't the offending poster a teacher? If so i am sure that his employers wouldn't be too pleased to know that he holds such views and that he might be expressing them in class. -
Royal Mail Sorting Office Closure Meeting..

Someone told me that President Macron wants the EU to introduce legislation making wife swapping compulsory in all member countries. Well, you know what those French are like. -
Such a clever fox who drives around the country, avoiding CCTV cameras on the road and choosing houses without CCTV - and employing the skills of an experienced surgeon. Where did he train? King's? UCH? This police announcement just doesn't make sense. There must be more to this than appears to be the case at face value.

Electoral register verification
Zebedee Tring replied to pixie_jem's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If the Southwark person was rude and aggressive, make a complaint about her. Electoral Registration won't be happy if one of their people is behaving like this towards a member of the public. -
This was terrible news. My wife and I were friendly with her, and her sister had already informed us about her accident. We stayed in her B and B a few months ago and it looked like it was going to be a success. An enormous shock.

Rogue moped riders operating in this area

How about hanging, drawing and quartering them? Those Elizabethans had it right. One thing is certain, they wouldn't do it again. On a more serious note, isn't your suggestion a tiny bit OTT? -
Local councillors who never respond
Zebedee Tring replied to Lee Scoresby's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have never voted Tory in my life (and never would). However when we were objecting to a planning application about 18 months ago our then two Village Ward Tory Councillors Lyons and Mitchell were very helpful, and one of them spoke on our behalf the relevant Sub Committee meeting, while the ward Labour Councillor (can't remember her name) failed to reply to any of the emails that we sent her. It would appear that the local Labour Party thought that she was useless and she didn't stand again. Since the May election Cllr Margy Newens has been assisting us with a current problem that we have with our refuse collectors, and I am glad that I voted for her. -
This might have something to do with the fact that Boris got his chum Thomas Heatherwick to design the bus when Heatherwick's company had no experience of bus design. This is not entirely unrelated to one of the other Boris vanity projects, the Thames Garden Bridge - in April 2017 a Mayor of London report criticised the appointments of Heatherwick Studio and engineer Arup in 2013 which "were not open, fair or competitive ? and revealed systematic failures and ineffective control systems".
-
Blame Boris. This was one of his vanity projects.

Thanks, DulwichLondoner. When I arrived at the station that day, I used the lift to get to platform 2 but there was no time to use the lift again when the train was moved from platform 2 to 4. Incidentally I made a similar journey last week when again the Bromley South train was shown to leave from platform 2. However, I happened to look at the indicator on platform 4 and discovered that my train had been moved to that platform. Luckily there was enough time for me to use the lifts to change platforms. However, annoyingly there was no tannoy announcement of the platform change - there's no excuse for this failure.

On a separate but related issue, I am fed up with the number of last minute platform changes at Denmark Hill. A couple of weeks ago, I was waiting on platform 2 for a train to Bromley South. About one minute before the train was due to arrive, an almost unintelligible announcement came over the tannoy and it took me some seconds to realise that my train was now arriving at platform 4. I am due to have a hip replacement so find it very difficult to use the stairs. Needless to say by the time that I managed to get to platform 4 after having to fight through the people who had just left my train and who were blocking my way the train was already leaving. My annoyance became greater when a recorded announcement informed us that in the interests of safety train doors would close 30/45 seconds before the departure time, a rule that was no doubt faithfully observed in the case of my train!

Changes to your train times from Monday
Zebedee Tring replied to A Cinderella Line's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Is it not possible to get a train to Blackfriars and then another train to St Pancras or elsewhere on Thameslink? You don't need to change platforms at Blackfriars. Or is the service still terrible this week on the Catford Loop line since the new timetable changes? According to Renata's last post, her most recent journeys were during the week before last. -
Is this your cat? (Archdale Road)
Zebedee Tring replied to isthisyourcat?'s topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry that I was being a bit flippant in my previous post! However, I would heartily recommend a microchip cat flap, which has been a great success chez Tring. It has kept some of the greediest feline barstewards out of our house. -

At least the cat is good looking. Imagine how much worse it would have been if he/she was ugly. -

It would be great if McDonalds moved in. ED has become far too middle class and hoity toity. -
Sparrowhawk attack (on a blackbird)
Zebedee Tring replied to Be.jones's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Any cat owner will be very familiar with their little darlings doing their utmost to reduce the bird population. Mrs Tring was very distressed when our ginger tom recently wiped out virtually the whole of a robin family but she wasn't amenable to getting rid of the little bastard (the cat, that is) -
Thanks rch. But it is not a question of councillors talking Matt Hill into forking out funds. Councillors make the decisions on spending, not Mr Hill - he has to implement their decisions.
