  1. Fishbiscuits, it's a bit rich for you to blame me for dragging the thread off topic since you were one of the people actually responsible for doing this in the first place. But please see my comments on bad driving in my latest comment. BTW what are your views on the subject?
  2. KidKruger, you unfortunately remind me of life over 50 years ago, i.e. the snarky comments of people in my Sixth Form debating society who tried to shut down reasonable debate by directing abusive ad hominem comments at their opponents. However, at least they were only 16/17 years old - what's your excuse? Although you call yourself "Kid", I assume that you are older than 17? It is striking how many serious threads on EDF are undermined in a similar way by people who are trying to show how clever (!) they are. To bring the discussion back to the subject of this thread, perhaps you could tell us what your view is of the idiotic driving described by the OP. Are you one of the drivers of black/white/yellow/ red etc BMWs/Audis/Mercedes etc who drive like a maniac or are you more considerate? Please enlighten us. I am the driver of a boring Nissan Note who has often encountered crazy driving like that described in this thread. My wife has suffered worse, no doubt because she is a woman driver who in the view of bad drivers shouldn't be on the road (irony alert)
  3. So you're happy when one poster calls another poster a 'simpleton" (whatever their education level) when he fails to appreciate his totally unfunny and juvenile joke? Please just return to the OP and remember what this thread is all about.
  4. fishbiscuits, I normally deplore using my academic qualifications in a discussion but in your case I will make an exception since you have insulted me and others. Unless academic standards have slipped in the past half century since I obtained a Cambridge Law degree, I doubt that Cambridge awards such degrees to simpletons. Please use more polite language in future posts.
  5. I hope that it is a joke. If it is a joke, it's not a very funny one. The OP was making a serious point, which I would have thought most people would support. Apart from those people who are in favour of motorists driving aggressively and dangerously, whether they happen to be at the wheel of a high performance Audi or a Ford Fiesta.
  6. Is someone suggesting that the OP has a racist motive here? If so, this allegation is surely nonsense. There is enough racism online without people imagining it when it doesn't exist.
  7. dhboy, if you don't consider any of your statemments as political, your definition of "political" is very different from mine.
  8. dbboy, in your first post you made the statement "When Khan goes, like Boris, he will not bother as he already has his eye on a much greater prize, plus he and Corbyn basically detest each other, so in a nutshell if you want change that can only come through the ballot box". In later posts you have made a number of political statements. It is therefore a bit rich for you subsequently to say that you were trying to keep politics out of this when you have expressed a number of opinions which are clearly political. When you state that TfL is a business, it is not a commercial company making baked beans or widgets. It is an organisation running an important public service, namely public transport. In this country it has been the political decision of governments for the whole of my lifetime not to fund public transport adequately from the centre, with the result that we have probably the highest bus and train fares in Europe and indeed most of the rest of the world. This is the situation that anyone running TfL faces. And what's with "ya get me"? Are you trying to get down wiv da kidz?
  9. But it is political and if you can't see that you're being naive. How can it not be when Boris J as London Mayor was allowed to incorporate certain National Rail lines into the Overground but when Khan wanted to take similar action Failing Grayling refused permission because, heaven forfend, unlike Boris he was from a different party?
  10. It's very easy to blame Khan for TfL's financial situation. But in doing so you're letting off the Coalition and Tory governments who over the last nine years have imposed massive cuts on local government as well as the rest of public expenditure.
  11. I would prefer a less offensive insult, preferably something that displays a bit of wit and originality.
  12. se22cat, your use of the word "retards" is offensive. I can understand why you are unhappy with the decision regarding the 40 bus and personally I would prefer that its route remained the same. But your attack on the TfL staff is OTT.
  13. Foxy hates Sadiq Khan. Don't know why. Clearly he would prefer to have Bullsh***er Boris as London Mayor with his money wasting vanity projects.
  14. I was far too kind to Boris J when I seriously underestimated his spaffing But all you people slagging Khan off will no doubt be delighted when Boris becomes PM which in this current topsy turvy world is a distinct possibility.
  15. But who would you prefer as PM? Khan or his hapless predecessor, Boris J, the man who "spaffed" hundreds of thousands of London pounds up the wall?
  16. So, Dulwich Fox, what has Sadiq Khan done wrong? Has he completely wasted hundreds of thousands of pounds like Boris J? Perhaps you could be honest and explain why you have such an aversion to him.
  17. I worked in local government for 25 years at a senior level as a lawyer and often sat through some terrible meetings at which councillors displayed their total ignorance. However my experience of the Southwark meetings that I have attended in recent years has been worse. Members have talked to each other using jargon as if members of the public were not present and have totally ignored arguments put forward by the public when it hasn't suited their agenda. They have clearly been already whipped to vote a certain way regardless of the points made during the debate. My respect for democracy at local and national level is at an all-time low - I say this as someone who has voted at every opportunity at every election at which I could vote since 1970, the first year that I was eligible to vote.
  18. What does a "Dulwich Village consultation zone" mean? Consultation on a possible CPZ?
  19. I'm still not clear whether or not Townley Road is to be included in the CPZ. Can anyone clarify this please?
  20. Assuming that the tenant actually wanted a new lease, surely it would be possible for to serve a counter notice under the business tenancy provisions of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 (or whatever is the current legislation) requesting a new tenancy. The landlord can't just evict a business tenant willy nilly and would have to have specific grounds to do so.
  21. Surely they have a business tenancy and could serve a counter notice asking for a new tenancy under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 (If this is still the appropriate legislation).
  22. Jimlad 48, you say that someone complained that they were delayed for their own funeral. Making a complaint after one's death is a remarkable achievement. Perhaps they did so after rising on the third day!
  23. Perhaps I can repeat the question that I asked earlier in this thread, namely is it being proposed that there should be double yellow lines either side of dropped kerbs throughout the borough and not just in CPZs??
