  1. Thanks John L, I did mean public position with access to children. I can see the main point about 'celebrating' the life of someone with feet of clay. However point of information- he was a vicar, not masquerading. lesson has to be we cannot judge (or trust) people according to their position? it may be just that papers only report these cases but historically faith groups, public schools and at the other end of the spectrum public care homes seem to have been higher risk areas.
  2. Distressing all round, je-suis concerned, do you think some of the anger that rightly should be directed at Fa Richardson has been redirected to the diocise? 1. Presumably nothing could be made public before charge, and even then care needed not to prejudice criminal process. 2. Letter states actions were overseen by the C of E national body for safeguarding. 3. You may be right in thinking the Church could have said more following his death, can you find any examples of cases where the 'employer' has made a statement prior to inquest unless the service users have been involved in the enquiry? 4. There are probably many users of child abuse images and sexual offenders, caught or not, living in E.D. I read Police are only persuing people in public positions from this sting!
  3. Friends in LL area cannot use their car for fear of not being able to find a parking space on return. I think one hour limit would benefit local business, if people park all day there is no space for visitors to the shops. A CPZ would benefit local residents, only snag is if your friends visit in the car from outside the area. Could there be a priority of one permit per household?
  4. Not wishing to sound insensitive but I do not think there is room for burials in this crowded area, housing, jobs space and green space need to be the priority, I believe when the big cemetries in Nunhead and Highgate were opened they were in relative edge of urban area?
  5. Perhaps you could sell dog themed sweets. (for children, not dogs). Myself I thought Hope and Greenwood very overpriced. A nostalgic indulgence for parents who would probably not allow their children to buy sweets from Iceland, sugar is sugar guys.
  6. Maybe they were moving a high risk prisoner, though they usually use a van so training a good guess.
  7. I have found the local ones to ED not much use, no one is really interested in anything but baby stuff. There is one hear beckenham, dreadful site but looks well used, also one on the A20 on the way to Sidcup. Check out the web or local papers.
  8. You might find the sky ride local the best place to start. Check out the website, rides are free and led by a ride leader. Different distances and speeds. Good way to build up confidence. Be a good follow on from the Southwark training session.
  9. James, any idea what is happening at Crown House, has the next role been agreed? Just curious as there seems to be a lot of work going on there at the moment.
  10. Work seems to be going on there, anyone know who will be moving in?
  11. Elizabeth, Did one have a dog with you by any chance, could it have tunelled under the fence and fetched help? It is possible to climb over or through the fence in Peckham Rye Park.
  12. Are all to be held hostage by car drivers? People needs homes, they also need local food retailers if they are not to drive everywhere. My only misgiving is the point raised re closing down a low cost food outlet, they do sell fresh and frozen non-prepared food. By the way, anyone know what is happening with the empty office block next to the swimming pool, it would make an ideal Iceland!
  13. Has anyone had any problems with car vandelism/paintwork damage when road parked near Goose Green? My friends car was badly damaged and they are worried it might happen again. It would be very helpful to know if others have had the same experience.
  14. The research is in the Independant today, apparantly the human skull has developed to survive impacts of up to 20mph but any increase over that and the damage rises disproportionally and alarmingly.
  15. Southwark Park, best ever, 15 mins of fireworks, brilliant crowd, no trouble.
  16. Just got back from the Southwark council fireworks in Southwark Park, fantastic 15 min display, and free. More fool Dulwich for turning the event down.
  17. I missed the consultation but this would be terrific as would be walking distance from the Overground stop.
  18. My tip would be to leave as early as possible, the traffic is much lighter before 7.30am and hence journey much more pleasant and quicker. 8.30 is a nightmare.
  19. Have you considered bites may be caused by bed bugs. They can be picked up on holiday. Far worse than mosquitos!
  20. I would endorse the advice about checking Gumtree, I had a bike stolen and saw a very suspicious advert for the same bike on Gumtree the next day but blew it be not noting the ad reference, I did report to Gumtree who took the ad down at once which I guess makes the crime less easy to profit from.
