  1. Sorry I wasn't precise. The grove vale one is the one Ginster has now flagged up. I will check Beauval tomorrow,
  2. Why don't Southwark advertise their plans, particularly those that affect everyone, in their full colour magazine Southwark Life. It presumably goes to every home in the Borough.
  3. Beauval road, Grove Vale
  4. It is indeed. The 185 and 40 are running also.
  5. Assume you have double checked they really are yew trees and not box or some other non toxic species. Especially since you discussed the original planting with Southwark.
  6. As Jeremy has pointed out the trees are in a very confined space near the road.I would have thought parents would not wish their children to spend time sitting there right next to the fumes and pollution of traffic going past.
  7. Maybe there is some CCTV footage available. Hope your wife is ok.
  8. I was very sorry to see that these lovely trees are to be removed. They do really brighten up the road. Sadly this seems to be only one of many topics on the East Dulwich forum where people are reporting that Southwark Council plans changes in our local area but does not seem to have adequately informed local people about what changes they intend to make. (For example, the borough-wide 20mph speed limit, the changes to parking bays, the cycling route planned to cross Dulwich Park, the cycle route through parts of East Dulwich and Dulwich Village... ) So sad they don't consult earlier so people can comment, criticise, praise, raise issues and make suggestions.
  9. Wasn't the painted pink wall created rather than by the "garden wallahs" (love that phrase) but by the art gallery which occupied the building on a temporary basis after the Tuck family had sold the garden centre.
  10. As I understood it at the (very interesting)meeting yesterday, the phasing of the lights is not an option. Transport for London will not allow this as it will affect the buses. Please correct me if I misunderstood what was said. I think cameras to stop people jumping the lights must still be an idea worth investigating.
  11. If you are only buying a couple of items you can walk to either Sainsburys, or indeed the co-op, I think.
  12. Today there were two army ? Helicopters flying over in a kind of formation. Part of the same exercise maybe?
  13. This thread is supposed to be about people's views on the planned changes to the junction of East Dulwich Grove and Townley Road. Please let us all discuss that issue instead of using this to let off steam at all and sundry about anything and everything. Politics aside, I have found James Barber to have been very willing to listen and insightful as to how to approach this consultation. Most people have also posted keeping to the topic in question, giving useful ideas and opinions for and against the proposal. Let's continue to have free speech, but let's keep to the subject and not use it as an excuse to slag off James Barber.
  14. If he wasn't dead I would suggest Ronnie Kray.
  15. Nobody ever mentions walking to the shops or using public transport and taking a shopping trolley plus a backpack. Saves taking the car, or indeed the cat, as predictive texting apparently wants me to put.
  16. I packed ours under the bath behind the bath panel. The pillows really do keep the bath water hot for much longer. After your bath leave the water in the bath. It will be ages before it gets cold and meanwhile it helps keep your home warm.
  17. Spent this afternoon with a group of people who live locally. None of them seemed to have heard about these plans.
  18. I signed too. And put a link on Facebook.
  19. I am delighted your children are doing well. I always understood your point by the way.I have heard this kind of thing several before. I remember, for example, a little girl some years ago who was thrown out of a private school when diagnosed with ADHD. I totally agree, this should not be the way educational "charities" work at all.
  20. But i am sure Legal Beagle that your children are doing/did just as well academically at state schools, made just as good friends and were happy. I hope so anyway. Don't get me started on why I don't hold with private education.
  21. I agree with Dimples. Excellent ending to this story.
  22. And to the detriment of cyclists as well as pedestrians in the whole Dulwich Village/East Dulwich area generally as motorists who would have used the right turn into East Dulwich Grove would have to look for other routes.
  23. The motor spares place was, I seem to remember, called Big M.
