  1. Hi ladies Sad to miss yesterday but will deffo come along next week. Newborn days are much easier than ones with the toddler in tow, my word! Think I posted before but if any of you are interested in doing Pilates recovery classes check out jelly belly http://www.jellybellypt.com I m starting the c sec course next tues afternoon and there are spaces and they are also doing a course for normal deliveries. I did it first time around and kellie is amazing, it defiantly speeded up my recovery. Jenny xx
  2. I'm not sure I'm going to make it now as been up with both boys lots in the night as my toddler is ill. Gutted as such a lovely day. Have fun.
  3. Lucky I checked as opens at 12. Could change the time or as weather looking lovely how about dulwich park cafe? Am easy either way.
  4. Wow huge congrats Nicole, Jenny, Catherine and Emma. Can't wait to introduce Sam to all the other new babies. Looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow at the plough, is it deffo open at 11, just as I know some of the pubs don't open till 12. Will have a check now. Jenny
  5. Wow jo, you are amazing. Huge congrats can't wait to meet him. I can make the plough on the 20 th though may be a bit later than 11. Thinking I should be ok to drive by then but if not might sneak a lift with Rebecca! J
  6. I'm thinking of taking Sam to bumps and babes this Friday at St Faiths on Red Post Hill at half 9. It's a lovely group for newborns or mums with bumps on mat leave if anyone else fancies it? Also had a great lunch at brockwell lido cafe today in the sun, v baby and toddler friendly so could be a good meet up place. Also wanted to recommend a book that Melissa in this group lent me by Clare byam-cook called what to expect when you're breast feeding. Wish I had it first time around, so much useful info in there so do get your hands on a copy if you're worried about feeding. Jenny X
  7. Ladies Just wanted to say a huge thanks for all the advice and support. No mastitis for now, I had it 3 times with my son so have been mega paranoid. The engorgement is slowly easing and feeding getting much easier so fingers crossed I am on the home straight. My midwife thinks I also have a very fast let down which is why my baby has struggled a bit soma now feeding whilst reclined and it's so much better and very comfortable, although no idea how am ever going to achieve in public! Nabz I had heard the same idea of getting your partner to clear milk ducts from Clare kedves, the amazing lactation lady at kings but think that is just one step too far for me! Thanks again for all your help Jenny
  8. Congrats ks what a great labour and Caroline I am so relieved you are home but sorry to hear about all your troubles, especially after such a tough pregnancy. Do hope all is going well now. We are doing well although rather housebound as having a few feeding issues but slowly getting there and no where near as bad as with my first son. Hoping I can sort by the weekend and start to get out and about. We're people starting to meet on a tues morning? Sally welcome to the area, it's great here for mums and I've made so many amazing supportive mums since having my son 2 years ago. Hope to meets you at one of the next meet ups. Good luck to all the mums due in the next few days Jenny
  9. Hello ladies, I was wondering if any of you could give me some advice about the early days of bfeeding. I had my son last Thursday by elective c sec and my milk came in really early on Saturday which was good but I am still engorged 5 days later and it's causing me loads of feeding issues. I had all sorts of problems with my first son with tongue tie and various infections and so really wanted to get things sorted early this time. Basically for each feed I am having to use a hot compress for 20 mins first, then hand express quite a lot before latching. Latching on has got much harder due to the engorgement and it's pretty painful initially during the feed but then is fine. I am then using ice packs after a feed. Also starting to feel very feverish and so am worried about mastitis so doing lots of massage and taking paracetemol. It means that each feed is a real palava and it's pretty hard with a toddler trying to help. I keep thinking that maybe the engorgement will ease but it's been since saturday now and i was wondering if anyone else had this experience and what else I can do. I dont want to use a breast pump yet as worried that will only encourage more milk production. many thanks for your help, really want to give bfeeding a good go this time but feel like the odds are against me. J
  10. Wow all these boys! Congrats Caroline and Emily, exciting that Sam and Elliot share a birthday. My elder son just met Sam and adores him so far, kept saying teeny tiny and kissing him so fingers crossed. Coming home tom and pelvis appears stable so looking forward to catching up at some point next week. Jenny x
  11. Hi ladies Just to let you know that our little man, also called Sam!, arrived safely this morning. 2 weeks early but 8 lbs 5 so glad I didn't go much further! He looks just like his big brother. C section definitely easier 2nd time round and getting great care. Can't wait to introduce him to you all. Jenny Xxx
  12. Hi ladies I caught a wee glimpse of Rebecca's lovely Sam when he arrived home earlier on in the week and he is gorgeous, got me very excited about the imminent arrival of my son. Sorry to miss last weeks brunch and Rhi I wont make the drinks am afraid as am scheduled for my section the next day so should probably rest up! I have a feeling that he may come earlier though as had lots of pre labour signs and fairly mega contractions on and off the last few days so we shall see. hope everyone and bumps are well Jenny xxx
  13. Sophie Is it ok if I pop in at 10 for a quick coffee. I wont stay for brekkie as got physio at 10.30 but would be nice to see you all again before c day. I wont make the next evening meet as will prob be having the baby that week but looking forward to tuesday meetups and maybe some toddler playdates as well. all the best jenny
  14. Wow Nicky I'll have had my baby by then, that is a very crazy thought. Jo, great news on the scan and Jess still plenty of time for the baby to turn and lots of my friends have managed different techniques to get the baby turning so fingers crossed for you. I meant to put on here a while ago if anyone else knows they are having to have a c section about this amazing pilates class that I did last time and have already signed up to this time. It's called jelly belly pilates and she specialises in c section recovery plus used to be a nanny so is awesome with the babies. It helped me so much last time as I had been in a wheelchair from 32 weeks and after a 10 week course with her, I ran a 10 km race a month later!! http://www.jellybellypt.com/ for the info. i might be able to pop in and say hi on the 18th as having physio round there so will see if husband can be chauffeur for a bit. jenny
  15. Great plan and love the plough. I'm toddler free mon and tues so looking like tues overlaps for lots of us. Jenny
  16. That's a great link, I would say more useful than the tour actually. We did ours a couple of years ago and v busy. That clip answers so many questions and I recognised some of the midwives. Might be worth sticking on a new thread as useful for lots of local mums.
  17. Sorry to miss last night. Like Lochie also feeling shattered which I don't remember last time. I can't make the 18th but about lots on weekdays and toddler free mon, tues and thurs or at home with toddler on weds and Fridays if anyone fancies a playdate or a coffee round here. Struggling to take toddler out safely with crutches as he either steals them or runs off!
  18. Hi ladies Im afriad I am going to be a no for tommorow evening as my mobility completely gone downhill and am still going to attempt to do my parents eve. Hopefully will be able to make another daytime meet if husband can drop me off but if not good luck to you all over the next few weeks. My section is scheduled 5 weeks today although after seeing my midwife and physio today it looks like they may have to bring things forward a week so at least not long to go. Jenny xx
  19. Hi ladies I will be there on Sunday, thanks for organising. Toddler mums I cant make this week as got scan and seeing consultant at kings so my mum is up helping but looking forward to seeing you on sunday. Jo, not had my scan yet but I had lots of repeat scans with my first son so will drop you a line properly when finish work. hope all ok xxx
  20. Hi ladies I can make the 22nd and thanks Emma for organising, I've always had great food at the Mag. Should be able to make the 1st although I 've got a parents evening so will have to see what time I finish...... TENS machine- mentioned to some of you that I bought the boots labour TENS machine thinking I could use it for my SPD and labour but actually cant for SPD and now having another elective c-sec so would anyone like it for ?20? here is the link for it http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Maternity-TENS_21164/ not even been opened up! Kelly - welcome to the group and congrats. I am also having severe SPD as are a couple of the other girls in the group. Hope you are getting lots of help. I had it in my last pregnancy and ended up in a wheelchair but this time have managed to control it thanks to a few things. Have a look at the pelvic partnership http://www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk/ for loads of advice and you can call them. The main thing for me this time is seeing my physio, Russell from Dulwich physio. I wish I had used him last time, he was recommended on here and is working miracles on me. Even my obstatrician is in shock about how well I am this time around. his no is 020 8693 9930. he just got me an amazing support belt called the serola which is really helping. do pm me though if i can be of anymore help as know how horrendous it is. I recovered straight away last time so remember it is just short term! If anyone with toddlers fancies meeting up I am off weds- fridays and go to various playgroups. Love the new one at JAGS called cheeky cs on a friday and think it will be a good one to take 2 too! see everyone soon Jenny
  21. Hi ladies I should be able to make saturday so look forward to catching up then and will be toddler free so relaxed. Thanks for organising Sophie. Jane , my little boy will be hitting the terrible 2s around the time my second one arrives - eeeek!! See everyone on sat
  22. They are linked due to the way the pelvic girdle is which is why it's now referred to as Pelvic Girdle Pain rather than SPD. Hope you've managed to see a Physio. You may have had a hip upslip or the pubic symph can also move but physios can manipulate back in place and it's totally safe. The belts then support you and stop any further movement.
  23. Midivydale This sounds just like SPD which is what I suffered from in last pregnancy and this one. Am I seeing you at spring babies on sat as we can talk more then and I can bring you one of my belts but in the meantime some tips. Firstly you need to rest as much as poss and keep your legs together. Don't use a pregnancy pillow between your legs at night and try sleeping on top of a duvet. I tie my knees together with a dressing gown tie at night to stop myself moving then apart in my sleep. You need to see a physio asap. Nhs referral could take ages so worth paying initially whilst you wait for referral. I'm seeing Russell at dulwich Physio 3 times a week and he is amazing and definitely keeping mine under control. At this stage with my son I was signed off work! He goes on holiday on sat so hopefully you can see him before then. If not google sue Lewis spd specialist as I also see her in Wimbledon. She has been studying SPD for years and is amazing. I'm seeing to obstetricians at kings who ate great but main thing for is Physio. I have loads of spare support belts I can lend you as well. Might be worth getting some crutches to minimise walking and when you do walk take small steps. Keep your knees together getting in and out if a car as well. If you google the pelvic partnership they have loads of other tips. If I don't see you on sat pm me and we can try and catch up. Really feel for you as know how horrible SPD is. All I can say is I recovered immediately after my son so that's what's keeling me going this time!
  24. Great to see everyone last night and look forward to the 17th meet up. Good luck with the rest of the scans Jenny
  25. Deleted due to new circumstances
