"New" bus routes starting 15th June
happymummy replied to Zig-Zag's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I had no idea about the changes until I read this thread though I've certainly noticed the negative effects this past week - slower journeys and overcrowding during rush hour. Many people rely on the frequency of the number 12 to get to to Peckham Rye to use the overground trains. I'm sure some people may say leave earlier to allow for the delays, though I know there are many parents who can't when you have to drop off to school or nursery in the mornings. Fine if you're lucky and have an understanding boss and flexible working though for those who don't it can be very stressful. Same goes for the journey home when many people will be rushing to make pick up on time. -
The chassis has been damaged with one of the wheels slightly unaligned. Does anyone know of any local repair centres? Many thanks!

Nurseries in Dulwich/Herne Hill - Advice appreciated
happymummy replied to alexjj80's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Nannies are great but generally the most expensive option. First Steps Montessori was a fab nursery for my first, they generally take little ones from 15/18 months, though my one didn't join until age 3. Childminders also good option. I hear YeeHaa on Friern Road v good. They're childminders but have staff so nice balance between childminder/ home environment and nursery for stimulation/socialising with other children. -

It's not a villa but a great family hotel. Princess Yaiza. Kids love it as do parents. Check out reviews online. -
Are you still looking for baby clothes? I have a big bag ready to go to a good home. Thanks. Please text me on 07725 052482 if you want them. Thanks.

Night nanny vs doing it yourself
happymummy replied to Strawbs's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I've recently been in contact with Nicola because of the 4 month sleep regression. After suffering years of bad sleep with my first child I decided to take action this time. I too was concerned about doing this before 6 months. I chose to go ahead with one of the gentle forms of sleep training called gradual withdrawal. It does take longer, though fine with me as I wouldn't want to leave my baby alone crying. It's now night 11 and we've definitely made progress but still have a way to go. Must confess I haven't stuck to the programme at times as it's pretty hard not to cave in at 4/5am after being awake for hours listening to baby crying. Nicola has offered great support along the way. I'm hoping we will be in an even better place in a week or so. Good luck. -

I would like to join but am busy then. Will hopefully meet at the school gates. -
I really feel for you guys. My first born suffered intense bouts of crying in the evening and generally seemed unsettled / grumpy. We had a big turnaround at 9/10 weeks when she turned into the most delightful happy baby. My point is just that these difficult early days don't indicate the nature/personality of your child or reflect your own parenting skills. Glad you've discovered Dr Karp as it seems to be offering some relief. He does say crying peaks at 6 weeks. If you did want any further support along these lines a lady called Viv Rogan (baby calmer) does sessions with parents and is certified to offer Happiest Baby sessions in the UK. It may be worth a try, if there are any elements of the techniques you feel you could do with having hands on help with. Plus she has a maternity background and also works as a Doula, so could offer some useful support. I also found sessions with the cranial osteopath helped too.
