Fair enough, I'd still recommend the restaurant :)

Whilst I agree it seems to be impossible to get good sushi in SE22, I would highly recommend Tsunami in Clapham as a sushi restaurant. Since the overground extension from Denmark Hill opened it's easy to get to as it's directly outside the Clapham High Street station.

Is there a buggy park at dulwich swimming pool?
DrinkingBuddy replied to Vixster250's topic in The Family Room Discussion
No, people tend to just leave them in the family changing rooms -
I ordered sushi from Fujiyama a couple of months ago after seeing it suggested on here. I'm afraid to say it was awful.

Is BT infinity any good in this area?
DrinkingBuddy replied to Tom-C's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm just off Lordship Lane, I get a reliable 55-60Mb down, 18-20Mb up and 12ms ping. I work from home so use it heavily (circa. 100Gb per month) and have only once had any down time in about 18 months. -
Bike thief around co-op lordship lane
DrinkingBuddy replied to LJ23's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The 20% figure is widely quoted in the national press, particularly the Daily Mail and is based in this paper http://www.urbaneye.net/results/ue_wp6.pdf from 2002. However the methodology used in the estimate is largely discredited and the real number at the time as calculated by other bodies was put at about 30% if the number this paper concluded. -
Planning Application for 1 Lordship Lane
DrinkingBuddy replied to Freddy1929's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Couldn't they remove the three benches from the roundabout end of the pub and build a wooden structure to contain their bins on the pavement instead? There would obviously be no impact on pedestrians as the area is already blocked by the benches. -
Lordship lane Co-op wants to open 23/7

Yes, the Lordship Lane one, read the attachment James included. -
The old garden center already has planning permission to be turned into flat I'm afraid, so no go for a cinema - http://planningonline.southwarksites.com/planningonline2/AcolNetCGI.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeResultDetail&TheSystemkey=9538657

Door-to-door fishmongers - should I beware?
DrinkingBuddy replied to jesska's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It shouldn't matter that it was a bank transfer. That is only an issue when you're buying something you haven't physically got, because there is no come back if the goods aren't delivered. Assuming your friend actually got given the fish at the same time no problem. Bank transfers are cheaper for a business as there are generally no transaction costs associated with it. -
Flying with a one-month-old baby?
DrinkingBuddy replied to Pantalaimon's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Flying with a very young baby is fine. You can take the buggy all the way to the plane and they tend to sleep for the entire flight due to the vibration. -
How to see a doctor in East Dulwich
DrinkingBuddy replied to Earl Aelfheah's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Call DMC first thing in the morning when they open for a same day appointment. When you inevitably don't get one call the Southwark Primary Care Trust and complain (http://www.nhs.uk/Services/Trusts/Overview/DefaultView.aspx?id=5LE). You'll often get a call back with a magically appeared appointment and if not the more complaints about unreasonable waiting times for an appointment the better. -
What does Lordship Lane need?

Mrs. DrinkingBuddy and I were only commenting today on how great the market is and we're pleasantly surprised by the rare musical performance. I personally wish they would extend the road closure up to Fellbrigg now as the extension of the market is (at least to us) a huge success, even with the Parkin problems it brings to those of us living near by.

The Great Exhibition has live music quite frequently and is currently looking to broaden it's license to cover dancing (I wasn't aware such activity needed licensing, but there you go).

Loss of BT Broadband in East Dulwich Area.
DrinkingBuddy replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've had no issues today, I'm just off Lordship Lane. Give BT a call, when I last had an issue they sent an engineer out the following day, turns out there was an issue at the junction box. -

DrinkingBuddy replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I can't believe any network connection can be guaranteed fault free and to be fair to BT they have been very responsive whenever I've asked them to do anything. The only time I had any of their engineers be anything other than pleasant and helpful was when I was having my master socket moved under the stairs, the engineer arrived and grumpily told me I couldn't have the cable under the floor (I spent a lot of time and money hiding every cable in my house under the floor and behind skirting boards) as it may get crushed (there is a two foot gap under my floor). Fortunately, I'd anticipated reticence and pre-laid CAT5e from my front door to under the stairs the day before he came, when I showed him that he hooked up the two ends without any further complaint. -

I had problems this morning too, but it is the first problem I've had since switching to Infinity last year. I get 64Mb reliably at all times. @Fox you have full control over your Home Hub router with Infinity, they just don't advertise the fact. -

It's a scam intended to get you to both give them money and install software on to your machine that allows them to control it.

Assuming it's a traditional PC there are only really a couple of reasons it would be overheating which are if there is a problem with the fan, the power supply or the heat sync (bit of metal designed to dissipate heat away from the CPU which sits directly on it). The latter is unlikely. This is obviously assuming you don't keep it in a cupboard or surrounded with things piled round it, all which would reduce the air flow required to keep the computer cool. If you do, stop it. Does your computer make a noise when you turn it on? Most computer will make a humming sound when turned on, which is the fan in the machine turning to flow air through the system and keep the temperature down. First step is to make sure your computer is clean. The majority of over heating issues are caused by a clogged up fan or power supply. This is especially likely if you keep it sat on a carpet. Simply take the case off (having first unplugged it from the mains), there are likely four screws on the back of the case. It will be pretty obvious if it is dirty as there will be large amounts of dust and debris stuck all over the fan and power supply (which also contains a fan). If this is the case it just needs a good clean. This is best done with an aerosol of air which can be bought in most computer shows, and they will simply blow the dust and dirt out of the machine. If cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, or if the fan isn't turning, then you will need to replace either the fan or power supply. These jobs are again easy, but if you have a technical friend you may wish to ask for their help. I'm afraid I don't know what people charge, but it's likely to vary wildly I imagine. If on the other hand you have a Mac it's a far harder job. Indeed because of their compact design many of them are prone to overheating and shorter life spans and it may even be time to look at getting a replacement.

I work from home, but have building works at the moment so have been hanging out in Nero. It is packed form 08:30 on, very hard to get anywhere suitable to sit with a laptop most of the day. Whilst I'd personally rather keep local businesses rather than chains, I have no doubt that there is more than sufficient demand during the week for another coffee shop to do well as long as it has suitable seating to use computers and provides internet access.
