New Cinema for Lordship lane?
peckhamasbestos replied to Eoghan's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I live behind the proposed site. Can't ever park anyway which is the sign of thriving gym/butcher/fishmonger etc. not sure how many people would drive to the cinema anyway. Generally if we go to Brixton it's the bus. Happy to accept parking downside for enhanced local amenity that a cinema would bring. -

Aircraft noise - have your say...

The noise levels were never as great as they are now. It's almost constant. -
really sad to hear this, have been shopping here every weekend for the last 15 years, one of the top traders in ED. Not sure what the lease situation is, protected tenancy under '54 Act should give automatic right to review in all but a few circumstances. If the lease outside the act then probably little that can be done other than look for new premises. will continue to support weekly.

E.D.Station controlled parking zone

"I support Southwark's desire to build a community and successful economy not dependent upon private cars - it's building for the future. Now in my forties I've never owned a private car." slightly off topic I appreciate but went to the Barbican last night (McCoy Tyner if you're interested). decided to leave the car here, not because I wanted a beer, but because I felt taking the public transport option was the right thing to do. at 18.00, I walked from just off L/ship lane to the station. No trains, rail replacement service........ jumped on the 40, to L Bridge, hopped off at Borough, as fed up with slow bus, and intended to get the tube to Moorgate & walk. Borough "this station is closed due to engineering works" - oh.......ok, walk to Lon Bridge, go down to tube....err majority of Northern line closed due to engineering works........run to bus stop @ Lon Bridge......wait.....wait....wait.....no buses! run across Lon Bridge, dive into cab, Barbican by 19.35, take seats by 19.40, 1.5 hours after leaving se22 (7 miles away!) just in time. moral? public transport stinks.....apologies if you have to rely upon it, but generally I don't, and will never agan because it just doesn't work! you will not get me out of the only solidly reliable form of transport which is my car ( & bike) until there is a cohesive and reliable transport network in SE London! And as previously stated I do not wish to pay an additional ?125.00 pa tax to not park my car anyway near my house (which obv. I can't at the moment anyway)!!!!!! PA -

Let's review in 2 years time. I will be surprised if your views have not changed. Of course, by then it will be too late for all of us!!!! -
E.D.Station controlled parking zone

To peckhamboy's point regarding the number of residents and the available space to park, East Dulwich Road is a case in point. It consists of very large Victorian properties divided into flats. Of course the number of parking spaces in this road is going to be constrained. No CPZ will alleviate this issue - as a resident you'll still have to play 'hunt the space' but now you'll be paying for the privilege. What makes me mad is that this detail isn't in the consultation document precisely because it doesn't support the case for a CPZ. These guys need to be held to account for putting forward a very weak case for a CPZ, surrounded with loads of waffle about yellow lines and trees as opposed to hard facts. please let's not go down this route again. i do not want to pay ?125 pa, plus the added inconvenience to my visitors for a cpz, which allows me the dubious pleasure of not parking in my street, yet paying through the nose for it! please NO! -

I grew up in a world of freezing pub gardens and bottles of coke with straws when I was a kid. Sitting outside whatever the weather. made me the (bitter) man I am today! I like the inclusive nature of ED pubs -
glad you're ok. smelt some on the way to Kew last week, sat right up, and teetered through. glad you had the kit on, get back on it, thats all there is to do!!! pa
