Car parking across drive - what can I do?
bels123 replied to EastdulwichNewbie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The drop kerb doesn?t need to be registered anymore (know you did in the past) you just need to phone them to ask for enforcement officer to come and issue ticket. They come pretty quickly. -
They have to see you loading within the 5 mins they monitor, otherwise you?re just parked. I wouldn?t bother appealing, those are the rules.

Our local police team - Goose Green ward

We?ll issue a summary of the minutes shortly to update here. Without wanting to contradict the earlier post I think it?s important to clarify that ?an increase in drug dealing? wasn?t discussed - but fair to say drug dealing was, in terms of issues that local residents wanted to raise to the local Police. -
Southwark has an anti-social behaviour hotline. Details here https://www.southwark.gov.uk/noise-and-antisocial-behaviour/antisocial-and-threatening-behaviour

Our local police team - Goose Green ward

The panel tonight will set the top 3 priorities of the local team for the next 8 weeks, they're currently burglary, shoplifting and increasing community engagement (which goes to the point about being more visible and recognised). Do you agree these are the right priorities? Vote here to have your say or come to the meeting this evening to discuss more https://www.met.police.uk/a/your-area/met/southwark/goose-green/ -

What do you think our local Goose Green team?s top 3 priorities should be? Please vote here https://www.met.police.uk/a/your-area/met/southwark/goose-green/ -
The Goose Green ward Safer Neighbourhood Team is a dedicated local police team. It consists of PC Tibor Fodor, PC Olivia Broughton and PCSO Teresa Kent. They meet with a ward panel of local residents every couple of months to agree local Police priorities, the next meeting is this Friday at the Picture House, 116 Lordship Lane 7pm. They also hold regular contact sessions - details are published on Twitter @MPSGooseGreen To see crime stats for the Goose Green ward visit https://www.met.police.uk/a/your-area/met/southwark/goose-green/. This is also where you can 'voice your concerns' and update the poll with what your 'top 3 issues are'.

Bonfire in Barry Rd, 1st June and now 2nd June
bels123 replied to EDmummy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Think it?s Southwark?s noise & nuisance team that can deal with this. Below is the advice I?ve previously received from the council. .......... Next time you are disturbed by smoke and odour please do contact us via the Environmental Call Centre on 0207 525 5777. The Noise and Nuisance Rapid Response operation times are as follows: Tuesday - Thursday 07.00 am - 02.30 am Friday 07.00 am to Tuesday 02.30 am If the nuisance can then be witnessed by an authorised officer, then appropriate action will be taken by us meaning locating the source and enforcement action taken, if need be. -
Council parks to charge ?2ph parking fee from 1 April
bels123 replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Interesting article - no such thing as free parking..?people who don't own cars pay for other peoples' parking. Every time you walk somewhere, or ride a bike, or take a bus, you're getting shafted https://www.vox.com/2014/6/27/5849280/why-free-parking-is-bad-for-everyone -

Agree more could be done to improve alternatives although as Gallileo pointed out there are ways and means even with busy lifestyles and 3 small children if you are committed to active travel and minimising the impact your journey has on the air we all breath. Perhaps if those campaigning against these charges put their efforts into lobbying for improvements to encourage this their concern for those who ?are unable to afford it? would seem less misplaced. What are the 3 local schools being referred to? Dulwich Prep, Oakfield Prep and Dulwich College? -

'Belair Park is surrounded by 3 local schools and many nurseries who rely on the park car park as a drop off point for children. Without this there will be pressure on surrounding roads and back streets which are already congested and gridlocked. This brings into question the viability of claims of benefits to air quality and the environment. Congested back streets are more than likely to become CPZs as a result of this' Whilst other schools and parents are campaigning for school streets to improve air quality and safety around schools, the ones around Belair are lobbying to keep their convenient car parking arrangements in the local public park.....seriously?! These charges are needed for this exact thing, to encourage a shift away from the over-reliance on cars - of course there are always exceptions but if you can afford to run a car in London a ?2 parking charge shouldn't be an issue. The poorest won't be affected the hardest - the poorer you are the less likely you are to drive. -
James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > And also harming other peoples children from increased air > pollution. As well as your own children - if you're sat in traffic you're breathing in the exhaust fumes of the car infront. Air pollution is 9-12 times higher in a car, a fact many people still aren't aware of, or choose to ignore.

I took videos on our way to school on ED Grove on 22nd Jan as was particularly bad then - backed up all the way to Melbourne Grove. I remember thinking it had been for a week or so - put it down to the cold weather as there were no road works this side of Dulwich Village. We?ve taken to walking on the north pavement now, as the traffic going towards Dulwich Village is so gridlocked.
-
Please can someone confirm when the trial started? I live on one of the mentioned roads and can?t say I?ve noticed any increase. ED Grove however has been bad, I?ve taken a few videos of the congestion wrhen it?s been particularly slow as we?re walking to school - I?ll check dates once someone confirm trial start date.

Deadline is tomorrow

Thank for the link. I?m concerned about the loss of the existing AstroTurf - this is much needed open space, well away from the traffic and much loved by many locals. More accessible too since the council put in the new pathways. Am I right in thinking it?s Metropolitan Open Land?
