  1. Getting back on track with this thread On Holiday in Washington DC and sadly reading work emails at the same time :(
  2. Keef Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It makes a lot of sense to be universal. Ahh now, I think we should go to Metric for beer.... personally I never drink a half, so it is Litre's for me from now on (providing they are the same cost as pints that is !!) Maybe we should start a local campaign to get the landlords of ED to use 1/2 Litre glasses instead of 1/2 Pints and Litre glasses instead of pint ones, but charge the same old imperial price !!! :)-D
  3. Hi alieh I have lived here for over 13 years now, and in my experience, the flight paths get changed over this way every so often, then without any rhythm or reason they shift away again. Something that you may also consider is that as it is summer (he laughs at the concept of this being summer) then you may also be noticing an increase in noise due to open windows (not saying this is the sole cause but it may contribute to it) I expect that one day soon you will wake up and notice something missing, the now familiar sound of the 5:45 flight in from Hong Kong (or wherever they have been)
  4. The Rye offers the best of both worlds Daytime up to 7pm it is child friendly and allows children in with their parents, nanny or whom ever is looking after them at the time After 7pm it doesn't allow children in, making it a sanctuary for any parents who wish to leave the kids with their child minder and have an adult evening out (Equally it is wonderful for anyone who doesn?t have kids as well :))) Personally I think this works well as it caters for both groups (tu)
  5. Hi Justinc Funny you should ask that, there is a group of traders in Peckham who have been asking me the same question, not sure if they will drink a pint or not after as some of them don't drink on grounds of their religion. If you want, PM your contact number and I will put you in Touch with Mr Ali. at Zara's Tropical foods on Peckham High Street (Quick forum ad here - good quality fruit and veg, spices, herbs and and other food products and always a friendly word of advice if required on how to prepare or use the products he sells) I am sure he and his friends are up for a game (or two) of Cricket
  6. Hi Buggie You can play games between friends, however they are limited to only certain games at the moment (Mario Striker Challenge is one) and you need good connection speeds to do it with (dial up is not an option) Wireless connection is easy and all you need to do is know what security your router has and it's SSID name. The Wii code can be found by going to the little envelope thing on the main menu, then compose a new message and will be displayed on the front of the address book when you open it (not the most logical route but....) Mockney - Totally agree about the interface although the same route as above applies Also the latest update (system wide) a week ago has allowed the use of a USB keyboard for certain activities (apart from the internet channel) Mogs - Not yet... but it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't soon In terms of Wii's are great - I agree apart from at 3am when you are still 20 minutes away from a save point and have to be up for 6:30am ... then bed is better !!!
  7. Sad to admit but I have a Wii, and I wonder who else in ED has one and wishes to share their Console Code with others in the area.(it allows you to send emails and Mii's to each other for those of us who don't have one - YET) In the name of online safety I guess the following should apply 1. Register an interest on this thread but don't post your code here directly 2. Private Message people with a request for console codes 3. Over 16's only (I guess a seperate thread could be set up for under 16's on this as well) Oh and for those of you in your 2nd or higher childhood - if you haven't got one yet trust me it's the best toy I have at the moment (especially when you have a drunken Wii party !!) Now if only they had a Hungry Hippo Game on it as well !!!

Can I just say - Pot and Kettle here sir !!! Also if you use a games machine (Wii, xbox or what ever) on the internet then it may not support WPA2 so be aware of that one
  9. Amelie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I am not sure that the lady who lives next to > William Rose has any legal right to make such > demands, the pavement is public not private > property. I think that she may be able to claim obstruction of a public highway in this situation and ask the police to enforce it, which would be a shame for William Rose hence the solution they have now is more or less the best for everyone (apart from maybe a bigger premise that is)
  10. A useful way of checking what planning applications are being considered is to look at them online Go to following link 'Planning Lists' to see how to access this information. If you are a nosey lace curtain twitcher then you can also see what your nearest neighbours are planning as well.. :-S
  11. Hi Bob The password is for the router only and you need to also set up an encrypted password that is used to access the wireless link as well. Don't forget to make sure that your SSID name isn't broadcast as well... makes it harder for the casual user to access if they can't see your signal
  12. OH NO - Taken from the BBC Website today - Leaves serious questions in my mind concerning what everyone, who is 'working from home today' due to the tube strike, is going to munch on this afternoon... I have a final square of Dairy milk myself !!
  13. A good posting Everyman, however the fumes caused by the cars queueing for ages may now kill off the family and older people who didn't have breathing problems before !! I think the problem isn't necessarily the lights but the timing between greens... far too long and what is the point of sitting there spewing out CO2 when no one is either waiting to come out of the side road or cross the road... Lights like these make a lot of drivers want to behave like cyclists and jump them !!! (Not that I am suggesting anyone - even cyclists - does by the way)
  14. James - Maybe, like most of us men, you too never grew up (I think I am in my third or forth childhood at the moment) >:D

That dog ran around like a > mad-thing barking and snarling at other dogs and > people. I have to say I am a bit confused by this post The bit in red says the dog was in the dog free area (not confused yet) The bit in blue says it was barking and snarling at other dogs (now confused) was there more then one dog in the dog free section? (looking for clarification now) This thread is almost as much fun as the Nunhead and Peckham Rye Community council meeting a few months back when the issue of the council imposing a blanket "Dogs on leads in parks" order was brought up... now that was a lively debate !!!
  16. It has got to be and always will be Dr Who The minute that starts you know it is time to get behind the sofa (yeah I admit that since the Jon Pertwee days I used to and still do that !!) Listen to it here and hide --> http://www.mondas.org/soundmusic/soundmusic.htm#thememusic
  17. Oh Dear I am no longer sure if I am eligible to post on the EAST DULWICH forum. It has nothing to do with the fact that I love Peckham (I really do you know, it?s like travelling the world without going anywhere) I am just in the middle of transferring phone and broadband to Tiscali after the lovely people at BT started to penalise me to the tune of ?4.50 a quarter for paying by cheque (as I have done for over 13 years) which is another story and a another thread. (maybe) As part of the transfer process I duly received a letter confirming the set up and transfer process has started and will occur within the next 14 days (as a former IT bod I think 41 days but prepared to be amazed) The reason I now believe that I am no longer allowed to post on here is because the letter is addressed to (and names have been changed to protect the innocent) Mr LuvPeckham My Road East Vulwich So does anyone know where the East Vulwich Forum is ? has anyone posted on it and more importantly has anyone else received strange name or address change letters that they wish to share ? PS I wonder if Mr Chekhov was the one who took the order, with "There is a Vulwich on the starboad bow captin" (actually as this started after paying by cheque I think Mr Chekhov is quite appropriate)
  18. I assume that the batteries are for the Duracell Rabbit !!!! :-$
  19. I am off to see the PURPLE one perform at the Dome over the bank holiday weekend ... does he count as one of the ones that you are refering to ? Confused from Peckham !!!
  20. This guy (Bob Smith) has me in stiches with the 'dress up' sites he has produced... can't admit (for fear of upsetting people) which of his I love the best but have a look at his work and enjoy playing dress up (some fo the sublinks don't always work) dress up sites www.normalbobsmith.com/portfolio/part9/ Rest of his work www.normalbobsmith.com/ A word of warning, he isn't exactly 'religion' friendly but hasn't restricted his work to one faith alone.
  21. be careful, some areas of SE22 are classed as Peckham Rye ... so the ditch (as you put it) is a lot closer to home then you think I Love Peckham (It's my job after all) and as was recently quoted at a meeting, if you want shops / establishments that sell what you want then you need to shop in Peckham to show the owners and potential new businesses that the demographics will support their business venture to sell the goods you want.. or to put it simply they sell to whoever shops in Peckham, and if you don't shop there they won't sell what you want... a matter of Market force at it's simplist level. .
  22. He (Paul Elvis Chan) retired due to ill health about a year ago... pity as I always planned to (but never did) go there
  23. capt_birdseye Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think the generic term for someone like this is > a "WUM". And in Plain English for all us Peckhamites ?
  24. Use the camera on your phone to photograph the person (without being seen) and if you can also catch them in the act of harming the dog then even better. It can be used as evidence against the person and the relative authorities can also (if he has a record) identify the person from the photo. better not to be confontational in situations like these.. you never know what sort of weirdo you will be dealing with.
  25. Brendan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I?ve heard somewhere that dogs are seen as > property and therefore you are committing a crime > if you harm someone?s dog but that cats are seen > as vermin. Any truth in this? No truth in that at all as far as I am aware... the RSPCA take a very poor view on any animals being treated badly and the best course of action is to report the person involved rather then approaching them yourself (madworld, if the person does that to a puppy what damage will they inflict on you if you get in their way?) And cats aren't vermin, see the current strictteacher discussion in the lounge to put a smile on your face concerning that matter.
