  1. Thanks Sean The link is banned at work. Though from what you are implying she is meant to be funny - so perhaps what I am missing is a sense of humour? Is it funny? Jon

  3. Thanks for the warning. It does seem that this particular route home is lethal. Do you know what time this happened? I go home this way everyday but will never use the Canal path after dark and use Trafalgar/Sumner Roads instead. They are a bit bumpy but otherwise fine. Roll on Springtime and a bit more light in the evenings
  4. ...and the Lions ...and the Ashes
  5. Alice You were about 5 minutes before me and yes they were on the corner of Brodie Street, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was them. Like you, I normally go left into Mawby Place but suddenly felt rather threatened last night as its even darker and more exposed down there. Do take care around there. (Not looking forward to cycle home tonight!) Jon
  6. Unfortunately another incident this evening in this area. Cycling home down Cooper's Road on the cycle route I was attacked by a group of youths who threw a hard stone-like object at me which hit me on the jaw. And yes it hurt. Managed to stay on and didn't stop but they were around 18, wearing hoodies with scarves over their faces. It is very dark indeed down that road. Rang the police when I got home and they said they'd do a drive by. Am now fine but just find it rather sad. Do be careful.
  7. I heard the pub is closing and reopening as a shop selling little nick nacks
  8. Whilst in Japan last year I was a litle freaked to start with that the pavements were full of cyclists. However I soon realised that that both Cyclists and Pedestrians gave each other space and got on with it. It is true that the pavements were a little wider than say Lordship Lane but I'm sure we can do the same here. We do need to encourage people of all ages to cycle don't we. Yes, we need more cycle lanes Yes, cyclists should respect non cyclists Yes, pedestrians should respect non pedestrians Let's reach out for the stars
  9. Carol Hope you are OK - I usually go that way and will now stop in the dark. It is really dark there isn't it ratprincess thanks for your advice but I can't see what you mean - can you claify many thanks Jon
  10. There used to be (and maybe still are) signs at the back of Budgens for Tescos, through the metal gates.
  11. The pics I posted are the highest res I have. I get them by trawling the net occasionally (postcards on Ebay are a good source) and saving anything that I like (slight worry over copyright issues). This is why res is not so good, but I do love the idea of the lovely old Lordship Lane pic on my wall at home. I've posted the best of what I have, the rest is similar or Dulwich Village but they are not tagged/organised/labelled/named. My idea over a CD was just to copy them onto a blank CD, let someone come and pick it up, they copy it and pass it on in a similar fashion so one CD is circulating physically. Jon
