  1. Wish there was a like button on the forum...thanks all - cured almost...
  2. C'mon forumites. Make me laugh. I am still fuming!
  3. He was in his 20's and from tne array of man-junk messily strewn about the inside of his car, id guess -- def single. Anyway, not debating whether he needed to drive, just was completely driven mad by his attitude this morning.
  4. A man pulled up in our overcrowded parking street near the train station. And parked smack in the middle of two spaces. I asked him (very kindly) if he could pull forward or backward so that another car might be able to park...and...he said "No, I have to get to the train". With the overcrowded and controversial parking on streets near the station, could people please think of others when they park? Fuming.
  5. Thanks James - that intersection is crossed by lots of schoolchildren and quite dangerous. It is also not terrific for cars. If you could flag that, it would be great. Just took a look at the wonky lamppost. Eeesh.
  6. Omg ms. Darkwood - hope you can enjoy a quiet day of rest. Thanks for writing in - hope your bruises mend quickly, otto
  7. In defense of James Barber, I would like to add I had a reasoned and neutral conversation with him at the library. Thank you Mr. Barber.
  8. Love to see a traffic light or something installed there. Would be helpful for pedestrians as well.
  9. Anyone who can ought to get down to the grove vale library this morning to ask questions - james barber was there, as well as the people in charge of tne consultation. They were all very helpful.
  10. Related but somewhat off topic - but - James Barber -- How about Ed Bikes? Get a few racks...pop one or two in the area of ed that people commute to the station via car and throw a rack or two down by the station...and do a pr campaign to get the drivers out of the cars and onto the bikes? Have a few Nihola's for people to throw their kids in if they are dropping them somewhere on the way to work??? Make them almost free and get local businesses like ummm...foxtons to sponsor the upkeep and costs...;) Or, baring that, get a grant for it... Why not try something new and greener here in Ed besides the controlled parking solution?
  11. Thanks for posting. We are JUST outside of the zone and if this happens we will never ever ever be able to park again. We cannot even park now. Bah. Thanks for the feedback link - have written in...
  12. Good points Katie.
  13. Having recently passed a catering level two certification, I might add that the risks to you will NOT be evident by taste or smell. Bacteria is undetectable to the consumer and good kitchen hygiene is a must!
  14. Speechless.
  15. Bald man was scraped off the sidewalk while having some kind of bizarre fit a few weeks ago by the police. Today, he has been caught shoplifting booze in the coop and is currently with a bunch of police. Needs some serious rehab.
  16. go to bbc news, click on education, then use the little box in the right corner to obtain stats. just to add, functions best if you enter your postcode.
  17. and btw - there is no flat fee the other way - from your hotel back to the airport. You might run into a bit of conflict then. I don't as I know my way, but, it is often a total hassle. Try this website for some shuttle options - http://www.panynj.gov/airports/jfk-taxi-car-van-service.html
  18. flat fee 45 dollars from jfk. The taxi queue man will hand you a slip of paper, and the taxi will put his meter on a flat fee setting. A few cheeky drivers still around who might try to get around that, but rare. Hold on tight while on the BQE - crazy road. And - a tip is customary and expected. Five dollars the norm.
  19. Joella - yes - you are right re: meridian address. I'm also a new Yorker - it was a location description rather than exact address - apologies for the confusion -- it has fine views of the park... Great suggestions on here by all!
  20. Try the Parker Meridian - they are on Central Park South and have double rooms that are family rooms and a magnificent glass enclosed rooftop pool with a fantastic view. Most hotels do not fit families so easily as Manhattan hotel rooms are so so small. There are also a number of apartment hotels that have cropped up - I haven't tried any though...a lot of them are downtown... All places are family friendly but avoid the trendy ones that might have pounding music until the late hours wafting up to your window...
  21. Yes - Put the clothes in the freezer. Go to farmers and buy the sticky glue pheromone cages - they catch the males very efficiently.
  22. I was told by the school it is the shortest safe walking distance on pavements as measured by the council. We didn't get into the infants, but, now kids are in the village hamlet school...
  23. The bald guy who just was stabbed...yes. I fell for it once - he cried real tears as he was talking to me...anyway, he has asked again and again and again...I now keep my head down when I see him. He prob needs a bit of rehab and psychological care...
  24. wd152...I still think you are awesome. You are indeed DOOMED.
  25. Hi - Just saw a hedgehog meandering around in Dulwich Woods today! Sweet. Not quite Ed civilservant, but, the first I've seen nearby...
