Was that wens evening? I cycled by there about 11pm and there were a few guys (four or five) standing about on the corner near the bus stop and across the road by Greendale that made me cycle a bit faster though they were just standing about. Shame - hope he is not to shaken.

Had the same question - whether to address it. I grew up twenty minutes away from Newtown and my mother still lives there. We often visit as a family and I have an 8 and a 11 year old. Our house does not watch telly or listen to the radio though we all do catch the news via the internet. I have decided to leave it alone and address it if it comes up. My mother, who is a retired school psychiatrist has volunteered herself out of retirement and will be helping in the local schools in Connecticut this week. It has been difficult not to talk about it in our house, but, we have left conversations to after the children are in bed asleep. If it comes up, we will listen to what the kids think and respond to their words and thoughts rather than putting our own thoughts and reactions in their minds.

Hahaha. Brilliant.

Just ask your bank for a new contactless card and they will send one out. Mine did, no hassle.

Handy. See http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/26416.aspx for details....

I would be careful with humidifier/vaporizors - sometimes these coughs can also be started by having a cold, then being sensitive or allergic to other things in the environment as the defense mechanism goes into overdrive. Specifically, one can be allergic/sensitive to mould spores which can breed better with vaporizors/humidifiers/laundry machines that do not get a high temp rinse on occasion/bathrooms, etc. Or, other allergens one is normally not that sensitive to can kick into overdrive after a cold/flu - cats, etc -

We tried and a planning officer came over to say why we could not have one. The problem is the issue of overlooking others according to him. We suggested we would have tall walls of hedges so that we could not and also to provide added green spaces for wildlife - our design was primarily garden. The planning officer said even though it was "green" southwark was quite firmly against roof terraces and would not budge, the exception being in multi-occupancy flats where outdoor spaces were needed. We tried every angle to no avail. Also - another person on our street was forces to remove theirs. Alas.

My son had something similar - I am certain the doctor will let you know, but, it may be (and your description sounds like) mollusCum contagiosum - my child broke out after a few swims in a local pool (which I shall mot name as we cannot verify 100 percent it is the source). If so, it is harmless, but, can take a while to disappear - his took over a year. As with any rash, the most impotant thing is not to scratch as that is hoe infections can occur. Good luck, and, I am glad you have been to the doctor for a definitive diagnosis.

Advice re transporting child via bicycle?
Otto replied to JS33's topic in The Family Room Discussion
If you are looking for something long-term, you might also consider a tandem. They are expensive, but, worth it if you are going to be doing it for many years. We currently ride with our kids on a tandem as well as a triple seated bike all over London . Tandems are safer and more stable than a trailer. Our youngest started when he was 3 and a half and he is 8 now. We had to place blocks on the pedals at first as he was too short. The bike will suit him/us prob for the next four years. If you divide the years of usage by the price it is reasonable. -
Crossings controlled by lights would be ideal.

Yes. I'd be overjoyed if something were done. My son has a friend across the street on that stretch, and, due to the crazy traffic, I cannot allow him to cross there on his own, though he is old enough...

I have extremely severe nut allergies (dead in ten minutes or thereabouts) and must say, I have survived many restaurants and many years. The risk is actually quite low, and, the only post-food ambulance i've been in was from a nut at a friends house. I think you should avoid thai and indian restaurants as a rule, but, others will be fine - ask questions, and, avoid veggie burgers. Do you know which nuts and the severity of each? I can eat almonds but a cashew is off the charts for me...knowing which nuts and the severity is v. useful...

We have put bins out for arriving new neighbors with signs explaining a moving van is coming. And moved cars into placeholding spots. If you make up a few signs to tape on bins and go around to a few houses and ask if anyone could help and loan a bin - give them a sign...it will work out. Our street diabolical for parking but it has always worked somehow for everyone with the combo of bins, cars, ans understanding neighbors... -
Another good GP leaving Melbourne Grove Practice?

I have had good luck and had never run into the dreaded phone consultation. But, yesterday...they insisted When I attempted to secure an appointment for my 10 year old son. I insisted on an appointment, and, was given one for Friday. So, yes, they are still doing phone consultations. I might add that this would have been an impossible thing to consult over the phone on. -
Take it by a bike shop and put on some big help-me eyes?

The nice thing in the documents concerning the development is the provision of lots of extra secure bicycle parking for non-residents. That is a GOOD thing!
