Looking for removals company recommendation
jenc replied to matnurse1983's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Just another vote for Smile Moves - they packed and moved us last month and were excellent. -
The dry cleaners on forest hill road have done a good job taking up a pair of trousers recently.

Anyone know if a sleep advisor/trainer?
jenc replied to minimac's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We used Night Nannies and they were excellent. -
I've only experienced Kings and have had two babies there(one emergency c section, one natural) - like lots of others, labour and immediate recovery was excellent but the care on the post natal ward is a lot less attentive. Ante natal care at Kings was great, their facilities and expertise are fantastic. The Lanes looked after me for my third and they were brilliant too, I'd really recommend the case loading midwives.

We've taken our son out for a couple of days at a time to go away and see family etc, but planning to take a week off in May. Taking the view it's not compulsory and it's the last year we'll be able to do it before being limited to pricey and busy school holidays.

Wanted! Night nurse who can help with bottle feeds
jenc replied to Mrs Nicklin's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Haha, this is my third so you'd think I'd know what I'm doing by now! The other two are great sleepers and by 8m (age of number 3 now) were settling themselves to sleep etc. Not sure where I've gone wrong with this one, maybe he's just more highly strung... Or maybe I'm just more tired so take the easy option! -

Thanks for the info Snowboarder, that's really helpful. I think it's the support from someone who's not so emotionally attached (or sleep deprived!) that'll be helpful for me. They may well be hearing from me... -

jenc replied to Mrs Nicklin's topic in The Family Room Discussion
That is what I like to hear Snowboarder! Did the nanny "sort" your son out as it were, or did she get you involved through the night and explain what to do? I guess I don't mind paying if I know it's going to have the desired effect and I'll be able to carry it through after the nanny's gone. -

Really pleased they were able to help. Can I ask how expensive is expensive?! I get the impression from the website you're talking around ?200 but is that what you actually end up paying (ie not loads more for various fees etc?) Also, I'm thinking of enlisting the help of a night nanny to get my 8mo to sleep through, is that realistic? Be great to hear anyone's experiences. Thanks in advance. -
Can't recommend as haven't been but I know Goodrich school and Dulwich leisure centre do street dance for four year olds. My son (just 4) does ballet at Push studios and loves it, not sure if they do street dance there. Hope you find somewhere.

My little boy went through a phase earlier this year (he'll be four next week) where he wouldn't speak to adults even if he knew them really well, he made me ask them for things or talk to them for him. Usually you can't shut him up so it was very out of the ordinary and it lasted a few weeks. He would also say "I don't want to talk because I've gone a bit shy" but I think that was him copying me saying " have you gone a bit shy?" He's been through similar phases before but he's not what I'd call shy by nature. Sorry probably not being very helpful but basically i think it could well be a phase and it might be best not to make a thing of it for now and see how long it lasts.

Goodrich school nursery have afternoon places available.

I've used an Ergo baby with the newborn insert to start with and it's been brilliant, really easy to put on and very comfortable. I've never been myself but the South London sling library is meant to be good for trying out different ones.

We used Hanex which is very similar to corian. We went for plain white with white gloss units and although I was sceptical beforehand and worried it would look too white and clinical I'm really happy with it now. It's hard wearing and even though it's white it's easy to keep clean.

Best baby carriers - what would you recommend?
jenc replied to sdurham's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Another vote for the Ergo, I used it every day with my daughter when she was tiny and am doing the same again with my son, it's really comfy. One of the few baby things that's worth every penny in my opinion. -
Starting Goodrich pre-school in Sept 2013 - when will we hear?
jenc replied to jenc's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks all, yep same here, she said the phone call was confirmation enough and letters would go out soon. Also said that term would start any time from 10-21 September in a staggered start. -

Thanks Monkey - will be making that phone call tomorrow morning! -

jenc replied to jenc's topic in The Family Room Discussion
But you've already got one? That doesn't sound promising... -
Hi Just wondering if anyone knows when you're meant to get official confirmation that you've got a place at pre-school for Sept 2013? I've been told over the phone but no letter or anything and don't feel confident in a place until then. Also wondering if anyone knows when the start of term will be? Thanks.

Thanks WorkingMummy, I'm not a member of Which? but father in law is so will check out their website. Glad you liked the S-Max!

I did a course with Scarlet Peacock at All Fired Up, three evenings, it was really good. The lady who ran it was Catherine Hirst, she has a really good website with helpful videos that show you how to do various things. The Sharp Works classes look really good and are cheaper but I haven't done one yet.

Thanks etta166, that's really helpful.

Hi both, this thread is interesting to me as we're about to have a third (with 3yo and 15mo) and thinking about either a Touran or S-max. Would either of you recommend them/have any reservations about them? Is there plenty of room for three car seats in the middle row? Any feedback gratefully received. Thanks.

My little boy has just turned three and has only just switched to a cup for milk at bedtime. He loved his bottle so I didn't push it, like jennyh said it was the least of my worries - he brushes his teeth afterwards and definitely has no speech problems.
