  1. i know a few people who use street car alot. We used their vans when we moved but the nearest collection point was London bridge at the time. maybe we won't need to get that second car we have been talking about for the last year.(and can't really afford). i think this is good news for ED. There was an article today on working about car sharing which i also thought was a good idea and hadn't considered. I've always wanted a BMW 6 series, does anyone want to share one? (split with 10 people just about makes if affordable- and could I drive it once a fortnight)
  2. Saila Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > No.. i always thought it was expensive and s**t Totally agree... But now their own brand stuff is much better quality and actually quite tasty with nice packaging. Not M&S; but an improvement on somerfield.

That is a very generalised statement. Are all black people scary in your opinion? Do you eat Indian, Chinese or Italian, French food because all other cultures eat unusual meat, vegetables incl horse, crocodile, snails, dog etc back to the subject; for convenience (walking distance to ED station) pick the lower end of lordship lane incl bellenden, if you like green-parks and woodland e.g. runner or dog walker, then upper end of LL. The east london line will be at Forest hill in the next 1-2 months and can take you directly to canada water (for canary wharf) or shoreditch (spitalfields market which I love)
  4. comment re video: beautiful gardens and a very special place; doesn't represent the whole of peckham but i am sure there are many other pockets like this around. This shows u that community spirit is not just for those living in the countryside and is present all over London. The music was a bit much...had me almost in tears
  5. Or there is the top end of lordship lane which is also very quiet, nice and green i.e. near Dulwich park and library e.g. Overhill, dunstans, friern road would probably be cheaper than the other side of lordship lane, which are mostly large houses e.g. townley, woodwarde, eynella. It is still a 10 minute walk to main shops on lordship lane but there are some local shops too. peckham rye park is still closeby. short bus ride to forest hill, peckham rye or east dulwich.
  6. Thanks for the info; I still appreciate the heads up...
  7. on court lane i have to slow down to 7mph to get over the bumps and we (my car and myself) still feel traumatised. the bumps ascend quite sharply. However, the new ones on dunstans are much softer and much better.

How dare you say this is bs! and are you threatening me? do you work at Bonnie's or is this lady your wife? Nothing I said was malicious or particularly spectacular..It was my experience and opinion which is what this forum is for. If anybody has had good experiences (which i am sure there are many) they are welcome to contribute. Even if nubby'mums story has been sensationalised, if she was brought to tears in another mans shop then surely something happened which was very unpleasant......so I am not deleting my post. oh and come get me!
  9. shocking story! So sorry to hear that you were threatened in this way... I think I have been served by that lady on two occasions. I agree that she isn't very helpful. When you ask for suggestions she doesn't give any and eventually you end up putting something together yourself. All she cares about is the cost. The other lady with the brown hair is much more knowledgeable, approachable (of will at least share her knowledge) and has better customer service acumen. After I went there for Valentines day, I decided that I wouldn't go back again. So I will try John Alan or Country spray (which is closer to me) next time.
  10. I have a SMART car (Low emissions, economical, easy to park) but it really is exhausting and uncomfortable driving over the hard high bumps..red post hill, dunstans road/lordship lane..i think the smart has to go ..
  11. In Lewisham (similar to Greenwich-SophieSofa) I had a large green wheelie bin (and another black wheelie bin for non recycling items). All recycling items were accepted and No sorting necessary! My non recyclable waste was less than half a sack a week. Since I have moved here it has taken one e-mail and two phone calls to get my bag for paper and another (very small) box to take bottles. I am happy to separate the items but I think the container boxes/bags are very small and don't encourage much recycling
  12. This is awful news. I am truly sorry for this loss of life.
  13. Dulwich park and peckham rye park & common are beautiful especially in the summer. Lots of cool cafes on lordship lane, some nice restaurants. lively markets-peckham and northcross road... Dulwich village is also lovely, herne hill is closeby with a lido in the large brockwell park...well kept secret of SE London but still really close to central London for shopping theatres, bromley for shopping etc...people passionate about where they live and wanting to make it better you don't need to go abroad in summer at all!
  14. I should never say always! but is it inappropriate in this case? Colour usually uplifts peoples mood e.g. colourful flowers, clothes, carnival. As long as it is not offensive or detrimental or worse than what was there before, will it harm anyone? or shall we just have useless graffiti and repeated removal? I think the competition to get designs is a good idea
  15. Complain....complain...blah Adding some fun and colour is always a good thing. Streets and walls are so grey or brown. Most graffiti is not pleasant to look at and adds no character. Unfortunately we don't have a Banksy and I agree that design via excel is very bizarre. I have given my contribution (also via excel -i found the squares restrictive; having said that but I am not creative in that way) Tried to say (North x, east dulwich) basically :-O
  16. Do the police offer advice re alarms/DNA kit etc for people who haven't been burgled?
  17. I agree..a picturehouse/cinema or everyman cinema. also faster transport links to central London even faster direct route to elephant, london bridge or victoria would be great -bus takes too long to get anywhere! an M&S would be great(nearest is in Brixton..no original ideas then. overall the area is self sufficient really.
  18. I read it once, I got it from the Magnolia...It was really helpful. I have just moved to the area and was pleased to see the number of community events and also advertising from local services.
  19. Yesterday I saw a man slip backwards and hit his head on the pavement. It was a miracle that he didn't lacerate his scalp! The roads are so icy.....I saw them adding grit to the pavement last week but not since the snow came
