  1. Hi ladies, I see there doesn't seem to be any first time Mums-to-be on this thread yet! I am due on Jan 23rd at this stage with my first child, and was hoping to link up with some newbie Mums and some of you more experienced mamas as well. Would be good to get more gals on here. Look forward to following the thread, N
  2. Police cars, ambulances etc. Anyone know what's happening?
  3. An intruder alarm will be a deterrent, as will stickers saying possessions are marked with a product like 'Smart Water', however if they are determined, they will find a way to get in unfortunately. The best thing is for residents to secure their premises the best way they can I guess, ensuring alarms are switched on etc. the best thing we can do as fellow residents is keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour and notify the police immediately, also if you hear an alarm, don't ignore it (I am certainly guilty of it in the past), call the police and let them know where it is going off.
  4. Callow Locksmiths on Lordship Lane might be able to suggest one.
  5. I don't actually know whether the houses were alarmed or whether the windows were levered. I know that one of the houses had a lock on the sash. Have no idea whether they were tagged. Where would they look for the tags? We were altered to this friends who are neighbours with one of the people who were burgled. Not sure what the police thought but I do know that they have been around to finger print. Did you report your bikes being stolen to the police? Might be worth a call to the police to see what they think.
  6. Daytime, front of house
  7. Just thought I'd let people know, that there were 2 break ins yesterday on nearby Crawthew Grove. Thieves stole laptops, 40" plasma screens etc by forcing front sash windows. The police have finger printed and will no doubt be keeping an eye out, but I thought it worth posting here, so that people were aware and could keep their eyes peeled for any odd behaviour and report it if necessary.
  8. It was white with the half crest. Definately isn't your garden type variety parrot.
  9. We have sighted a cockatiel this morning in the vicinity of Crawthew Grove. It clearly doesn't belong here so please spread the word and hopefully whoever's pescape escaped may have a chance of finding them.
  10. I played Beckenham Place Park yesterday. Actually considering its a 15 min drive (on a good run) I thought it was pretty good, certainly better than the one in Mitcham. The back nine holes are quite challenging and attractive and a lot more interesting than the front. ?23 is a bit steep but it is in London I guess and that's the price you pay for convenience. Greens are a little ropey and the biggest frustration is that the course has no distance markers whatsoever! Otherwise certainly worth a look ...
  11. My MAJOR gripe with JAGS is that although I am a paying member I can't take a guest for free (or at least a sensible fee - ?8 is ridiculous). As my reason for joining JAGS was the tennis and squash courts, I need a playing partner and therefore have to take a guest; this guest fee makes membership almost pointless since I can rent a court in the city for not much more than the guest fee. When we joined the waitlist (three months at the time) we were sold on the fact that there was social tennis and squash sessions on the weekend which seemed a good opportunity to meet and play with other members. Both seem to have died a death in the interim. In spite of Mr Club Managers comments about being approachable, I have asked repeatedly to speak to the manager and left messages for he/she to call me with the reception staff. Since he/she is never there and evidently cannot be bothered to return calls, I have resorted to putting suggestions in the box along the lines of 'could you please set up a league' or 'invite members to share their contact information if they are looking for a playing partner etc'. I have always left my contact information and the suggestions have been ignored Its disappointing because I think the facilities are great.
  12. We go there because it is BYO which is a joy ... they are so few and far between ... as one who likes to try and buy different wine, it is great not to have to be tied to a restaurant's invariably boring and over-priced wine list. I have not personally ever had a bad meal in TCC and their takeaway's are always good. Only thing that I worry about slightly, ironically, is how fast it arrives - has been as quick as 7 mins which has to make you wonder how re-heating is going on? Hardly a complaint though. Mikandnik
  13. We live in Crawthew Grove and it is a nightmare with all the Foxtons minis, affecting both residents parking as well as any shsoppers coming to Lordship Lane! If the parking scheme came into effect on my road, I would want to know how many permites Foxtons would be given!
  14. WE've had 3 letters through the door to a property we've just sold on Derwent Grove (1 each to my husband and I and one to 'The Occupier') - we've also had 4 through the door to our new property on Crawthew Grove. There's already 4 stands in the windows for their ugly plasma screens, and apparently there is going to be a cafe and masseuse installed (rumour only I stress). I was speaking to one of the workmen on site yesterday and they have heard there are going to be between 40 and 50 staff working there - aaaaggghhhh. Imagine LL crawling with smarmy Foxton-ites GIven I live 8 doors away from them, I am seriously considering lobbying the council for residents parking. We will never get a park anywhere near the house if all those Green minis are trying to park close to the office. Residents parking is anywhere between ?45 and ?110/year dependent on the borough, and I think it is a small price to pay to be able to park near your place of residence! And apparently, most of the Foxtons staff automatically get one of these ugly company cars!! Apologies for the rant - I agree it will make Lordship Lane look smarter, however that's how Putney started and it's High St has all but lost its villagey feel now that more and more mainstream shops have descended upon it! Finally, a note to Mark who administers the forum - they are opening on the same day as your 1st birthday celebrations! I agree they could throw a few bob into the hat!
  15. Anyone know of a good Tapas restaurant somewhere Lordship Lane, I reckon it would be a winner on Lordship Lane!
