  1. have you tried the egg cup shop on lordship lane?
  2. when i'm walking to work through the small park behind sainsbury's, i often hear a cockerel making itself known. someone around there must have a coop. or maybe this is actually from your coop...
  3. when's this actually opening? think someone mentioned december a while back. still on schedule..?
  4. it is your legal right to trim back any branches or leaves overhanging into your garden from a neighbouring garden. if you do this you are then legally obliged to toss the brances or leaves back into the neighbouring garden. i would strongly advise against rushing into this course of action as have seen, not from direct personal experience, but from a couple of families i used to live near who nearly came to blows when one of them did this.
  5. i dislike them because they are not bikers nor qualified chefs. fact.
  6. why did you move from hampstead?
  7. a few of us went there on Friday night for a leaving do and are all agreed we had one of the best meals for a long time. the all round atmosphere was cracking too as was price and service. just thought I'd sing their praise. I can promise I don't work for them incidentally.
  8. I'm sure we all heard the thunder last night..? Anyone get any lightning pictures?
  9. i feel a little bit sorry for gove, he is the only member of cameron's cabinet with a fairly working class background, felt he got a bit of a kicking for it.
  10. Good Christ, there's workmen ripping it up again!!! What the F is going on??
  11. my thoughts exactly localsilly, those red bricks were not there very long and as i hinted at previously they looked expensive. just to throw it out there, what would make that junction safer?? even more traffic lights on the lane?? which i know would entail large tailbacks...
  12. many thanks james, still wonder why tarmac wasn't used in the first place instead of the red bricks? i really hate that junction, is ther anyway of making it safer??
  13. could well have been the utility companies although why put a load of posh looking red bricks down only to remove them later for some tarmac? the red brick work isn't likely to be part of utility work, that looks like proper re-surfacing.
  14. is there any particular reason why the junction of east Dulwich grove and lordship lane was ripped up again and re-surfaced? admittedly it didn't seem to take long as I've only just noticed it, just seems a waste though, the red cobbles/bricks previously there looked alright (and looked expensive). apologies if there was already a thread on this.
  15. happy to clarify... once read there columns, now occasionally skim over them. Pure drivel, lightweight inanity.
  16. i never read her column or tim dowling's, they're so far up there own arses it's untrue.
  17. It's not a bad market, I think the food stalls are ridiculously over-priced regardless of how organic or responsibly sourced the ingredients are; seven notes for a burger or hot-dog?? I only go to spot richard ayoade, seen him three times now. He obviously likes it.
  18. It's a con. Happens all over, I've seen kids like that come into pubs and ask for sponsorship. Not sure who's behind it all though.

    MBA

my old line manager did an mba and he said it was one the most brutal and draining experiences of his life so far. evening classes until 9 pm every friday and a full day of lectures every saturday. i would hate to do one of these only to end up applying for a job for someone who worked there way up with no education.
  20. did anyone else initially miss-read the title of this thread..?
  21. gutted about this, I loved rik mayall. the 'university challenge' episode of 'the young ones' is one of comedy's finest moments. so brilliantly anarchic right up to last year's 'man down'. RIP Rik
  22. Missed out on 'Happy Valley', not that happy by all accounts I've read. Really enjoyed watching 'The Americans' though...
  23. slightly unnecessary sarcasm lane lover, that kind of anti-social behaviour can be quite unnerving. hope you're alright bagpusisevil and do report this encounter.
  24. just wondering what the consensus is in ED regarding gov proposals to remove classic, albeit American ones, such as 'to kill a mockingbird' from English gcse programmes?? Mockingbird is one of my all time favourites although I've never read 'of mice and men' another set text facing the axe. some boards want to introduce 'never let me go', too modern..?
  25. Cheers BNG, new it was there somewhere.
