  1. TB, E. coli AND Brucella. Scary stuff.
  2. drivers get into a lot of trouble if they 're ahead of schedule so they 'll deliberately slow down. being a bus driver in london is one job i could never do, they deal with a lot of grief, it turns them bitter and then everyone suffers.
  3. have just heard helen mirren's on way to quieten things down.
  4. many people think that david bowie's 'changes' features the lyric 'time may change me but i can't change time'. if you listen carefully however, it's actually... 'time may change me but i can't TRACE time'. no idea why. check it out.
  5. there are bats living in the small wood behind sainsbury's. on the notice board by it there is info regarding nature walks in and around it. it 's a fantastic little wooded area and quite bio-diverse with loads of different flora and fauna. check it out. perhaps not at night though.
  6. there 's a piano in the george canning pub, near denmark hill.
  7. i just can't get in to this, seems a bit desperate/sad. everyone seems to be doing it though. anyone had a go?
  8. please don't tell me i'm the only precariat on this forum. agree with *bob* though, the test is heavily skewed in favour of home owners and the wealthy. i re-did the test and pretended i was a home owner but marked myself down on the other questions to give the impression i was a cultural and social yob, still came out as an 'elite' though. a load of tosh as my farm labourer mates would say.
  9. sorry londonlogco, just read the end part of your original post!
  10. steady on there salsaboy, danny baker - leg end try bbc 6 music. brilliant station, shaun keaveny in the morning is terrific
  11. it annoys me when people refer to 'the guardian' as 'the grauniad', in reference to supposed numerous spelling errors. 'the independent' is ludicrous when it comes to spelling.
  12. i'm with londonmix on this, think it's one of the most innocuous things to do on public transport. odd thread.
  13. it's technically illegal isn't it, have fancied giving it a go though. not sure about anywhere around here, concrete house??? although might be very structurally dangerous. feel like i'm getting into iffy territory here...
  14. 'Peep show' genius 'Mitchell & Webb' appaling

    Bipolar

Thanks for your post LadyDelilah. It was probably one of the most interesting and useful this forum has seen in a while. It made me think about how I've been living for quite a while now. I drink a lot and comfort eat and generally let myself go. This goes on for very long periods of time. Every now and again I turn things around and stop drinking but it never lasts. I am certainly not one for talking about 'feelings' and wholeheartedly understand you when mentioned fearing to appear weak at the prospect of having to medicate, but I know this can't go on. Maybe in the new year I should talk to a GP, does anyone know of one who's good with these kind of issues?? Thanks again LadyDelilah and all the best to you AlanMedic, maybe I can help one day.

    Scary pubs

if you 're looking for scary pubs in the camberwell area i can recommend the old dispensary and the nag 's head. the old dispensary is actually a pub i go to a lot and perhaps doesn 't entirely deserve to be called scary but it is very old school in all respects. i just can 't stand boring/sterile pubs. the nag 's head just around the corner on the other hand is quite scary, quite villanous.
  17. thanks for the great pictures computedshorty, your postings are always a pleasure. i live in the flats that occupy the space where the ED odeon once stood. i think the abundance of cinemas in days gone long by can be explained by the fact that it wasn't just films that were on show but also news of the day. there are also some really interesting old pictures of ED on north cross road, you can stand in the position where one of them was taken, quite an eerie feeling! when did the ED odeon shut though? wonder what the last film shown was?? cheers again.
  18. have you got a drummer? used to play, never in a band though and it 's always been a big regret of mine. i 'm a biomedical scientist now (sigh)
  19. i live in a block with a communal post room on grove vale, i don't know if the same postman serves us but your experiences make me think he/she does. instead of posting letters in the individual boxes they just dump the lot on a table. a note was also placed alongside recently declaring that it was just simply quicker. i've no doubt this is true however it strikes me as a bit lazy quite frankly, there are aspects of my job i don't particularaly enjoy doing but they are necessary and i get on with them. thoughts??

    Like

when people say 'me personally' before saying something about themselves drives me up the wall. who the hell else would they be talking about in the context of themselves?? completely unnecessary.
  21. only just seen this thread today but the old dispensary in camberwell would definitely have shown the game. i go there all the time after work (at King's). it's a bit rough and ready, no trouble though, but a bit more lively than most pubs in ED, almost reminiscent of the EDT in its heyday.
  22. a scotch egg at 4 quid, well priced?? really??
  23. i also agree with LizR, exactly why do irish references have to go?? there is a fairly large irish/2nd gen irish community in the area. very disapointing.
  24. delighted to hear this, ditto many of the above references to appaling past experiences of the vale. shame about the football though, none at all?? Also, apart from good beer, friendly bar staff who actually look like they want to be there and talk to you make a pub for me. good luck with it.
