I have just spoken to a lady at the Salvation Army who told me that at present, there were no requests for clothing donations. She was very friendly and took my number if the situation changes. She said there are 15 families that have been directly affected and they are being helped and may be let back in there homes soon.

What a lovely idea! It's in the diary. Xx -
We are having this problem too. I have discovered that our washing machine has been leaking at the back and that's what has attracted them. I put slug pellets in the cupboard yesterday and have picked out 3 so far. As already mentioned. look out for any damp. xx

Good soft play areas within public transport reach?
dullwitch replied to Citrovie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Just near Merton Abbey Mills is Eddie Catz, which has a good play area for young toddlers. I'm not sure how you'd get there, but it's close to the saver centre, if that helps (near Colliers wood tube) There is also one in Putney by the way. You could also try the One O'clock clubs in Wandsworth/Battersea park. -
Has anyone tried the sushi yet?

Does anyone know the incubation period of this flu? How long after would you be likely to get the Flu if you'd been in contact with someone infected?

over zealous parking ticket man!
dullwitch replied to huntaaar's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry to hear about your ticket huntaar, it's feels so unjust doesn't it? Have a look at this website http://www.pepipoo.com/. I would recommend appealling, you have nothing to lose by trying. I have appealled a few tickets and have usually been successful. Sometimes it is neccasary to write twice, then they get fed up with you and let you off. :)) good luck Xx -
Funnily enough, I nearly posted the same question last week. I haven't noticed it any more, but last week, the lights in the house kept dimming and flickering. It even caused the computer to restart at one time. :-S

I just had a woman knock on the door about half an hour ago on Upland road, saying the same thing. She had rather strange, very dry dark hair that was dyed blue on top(odd!) She said something about them being a new company and wanting to introduce themselves to the area, by doing external wall surveys, checking for weather damage, etc. As soon as she said "No obligation" alarm bells went. I asked to think about it and tried to keep the leaflet, but she took it off me saying it was the only one and I couldn't keep it (WTF!) If you were really trying to drum up business, you'd have some leaflets printed to give out, wouldn't you? No sure what it was about, but very suspect.

Door knocking scammers again on St Aidan's?
dullwitch replied to Crystal Tips's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It makes me wonder though, if you're intelligent enough to come up with a clever idea like that, why not challenge your energies into something more honest and rewarding, as you'd more than likely be quite succesful IYKWIM. Edited to say, I've just realised how naive that sounds :-$ -
Door knocking scammers again on St Aidan's?
dullwitch replied to Crystal Tips's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This happened to me a few years back, when I lived on Tintagel Crescent. A guy knocked on the door, said he lived at number 9 and had locked himself out and left his keys in his studio in Central London. He needed money for a cab there and would pay me back :-S Unfortunately, for him, I knew the neighbours at number 9. I just told him that I had no change and he left. To be honest, if I hadn't known the real residents, I probably would have believed him, he was very convincing. -

At first I thought it was the local cat, but, I haven't seen her at all, and I don't think she could have killed so many in such a short time span. They were all lying around on the decking. There was one left alive, which I tried to protect, but I think they got that too, in the end.

Does anyone have any ideas of deterring Magpies from the garden. I found 5 dead baby Robins the other day and I'm convinced it was the Magpies. It's really upset me.:(

I popped in today. I now see what you're all talking about. It's not that impressive really. Shame, cos I need some shoes

Are you sure they're not foxes? Cats don't usually do that. -
