  1. My friend works in TfL, I asked had she any ideas what could be done. She said to contact the external press office, they may be able to help. ([email protected] & 0845 604 4141 (for media queries only I believe from the site). She said if he had a Freedom pass the police could try and trace his movements. I am sure that this will already have been done, but thought I'd repeat what she said, just in case.
  2. Hi, I am sure all of you have seen the thread about Pat Connelly who is missing. The Earl of Dulwich said he was changing his running route in order to help look for Pat. The idea came about to perhaps organise a meet up in various areas, at a specific time, so that runners/walkers or whoever would like to come along, to cover specifics areas all in one go. Peckhamgatecrasher said the areas that would be good to cover are Nunhead Cemetary, Peckham Rye, Belair Park, Benchly Garden, Peckham and Nunhead. Are people interested in doing this? If so, I really don?t know the area?s, so if we could have someone look after a particular area that they may be local to, for instance, and organise which routes may be good? Also any ideas for day/time? How about Saturday, and if anyone else can organise meetups prior to this, that would be great. We should get in contact with the facebook page, so that no efforts overlap with others. If you have an other ideas that would help, that would be great. Obviously letting others know about this, even better. The more that can help the better. Thank you!!
  3. Okay, let me start a separate thread, so that other ideas and messages don't get mixed up with a "running" thread. And see what interest we can generate. Can people post the thread wherever it may be helpful and go from there. But seriously, I dont know the areas at all, so thats why I will need help on this. I will get the ball moving for now :) And thank you Pickle!
  4. Im up for helping organise this - anyone else able to help? I don't have a clue where to begin! Pick a day? Create a thread on here, link it to the FB page and other pages on FB? Find out which areas people can cover, where it would prudent to cover?? Help!!! :) Organise a number of meeting points for people so they can set off at the same time?
  5. You know what, Earl of East Dulwich, you've given me an idea!! Thats great about changing your running to see if he is along the routes mentioned. I don't run, but, if enough runners out there were available to help - how about a properly organised run, where people would cover certain areas on their route? People will be exercising as normal, but there would be potentially a good sized area covered, all at the same time! I hope that makes sense.
  6. I tried ringing a radio show in Ireland but it went to voicemail. I've now emailed RTE (three radio shows, at either prime times or popular presenters). Once Mum gets in contact with me, she may be able to help further, I'll let you know. Peckhamgatecrasher - I will pm you
  7. I am pretty disappointed that BBC/ITV etc are not covering the story. This may seem a bit of a long shot, but perhaps going to RTE in Ireland would help? If they did something, perhaps it would make BBC/ITV do something? RTE would have contacts. I am a little removed from the popular radio shows there now, but I think there is Jo Duffy on RTE1. Also reaching out to 2FM for one of the morning shows would be good, because they have good ratings and are in public places etc.. With your links to Connemara and your concern that he may head to Ireland, I think this is a viable route to gain publicity and perhaps feed back to the UK. UTV is another route (ITVs equivalent in Northern Ireland).. Just ideas! I wish I could be more helpful.
  8. I didn't see the meet advertised until too late yesterday. But if there are any more going on, it would be good to know. I am rather useless on a workday, but if I get to work from home this week, I will come along also if they want extra people...
  9. I tried to post the details on FB yesterday, and when I logged on, people in Ireland were also posting about him to find him also. I know its a bit removed, but everyone is thinking of him.
  10. DMC is not great at all - its very hard to get an appointment. Seldoc were helpful to me one night regarding my leg and told me to go to A&E, which was lucky, as I had been limping all week, after been told I had a muscle injury, but it was in fact DVT (this wasn't when I was with DMC at the time, I was with another practice). If your leg is swollen, its better to go down to A&E, I was down there again with my "lovely" leg a couple of weeks ago, and I was up in the vascular unit within 30 mins having a scan. They don't see it as a waste of time, its usually those who dont want to waste their resources time, that have problems which need to be looked at. Those who I have come across in Kings are great, helpful and kind. I hope you've had it looked at now, and that all is well :)
  11. You have all the confidence you need, if you have embarked on the study :) I think there is tax modules in AAT, so if there is any help I can give there, plesae ask. Its a shame, because I have literally just binned a lot of my binders, but kept some of course material and some questions banks. I also scanned all the course material, so I can give you the relevant chapters, if you feel reading the material in a different way, would be helpful. Its question practice which will help nail the exams, especially when doing computations. I made the mistake of trying to learn everything off by heart, rather than practice enough, but hey ho!! :) If you can bring books/legislation into the exams, get familiar with them too, because they will be helpful. Good luck :)
  12. I've not done AAT, but did ATT and CTA, and its really like anything, if you put the hours in, its the only way. I found that the classroom courses were okay, but the exams provided by the training college, a bit distracting. I'd rather have studied straight from the manuals, and get the questions banks, prior to the month before the exams. Also I would have preferred to only do the revision course, that really helped nail what you needed to know or round things up nicely. I wish you well with AAT, and any qualification like that will help you get into a finance role. After that, most companies will support further study. If you are not in a finance position already, I'd advise you to go ahead and start applying for roles. The fact that you are wishing to learn will also make you a good candidate :)
  13. Thank you BrandNewGuy, I thought they'd escaped from someone's home or something, so I panicked!! They were beautiful :) Thank you for the link!
  14. I've just seen about 8 green birds (not sure what their breed is) on Underhill - they must be pets. Has anyone inadvertently let them out?? Thought I should post on here!!
  15. Haha, sterling silver? Nope its gold, with a diamond on each piece, got a bit bored of it :) This cutlery needs to go, its old and had its use!! Otherwise I would have put on the "items offered" section. Thank you though :)
  16. Hi, this may seem like a stupid question - but can you dispose of cutlery in regular bins? Its obviously the knives/forks I am more concerned about (which I can naturally wrap up). Thank you :)
  17. Is this still the case? I've just seen it on the news. Does anyone know if the number 40 is working?
  18. Its an add for Carlsberg!! I asked the man in the shop near there!
  19. About 20 mins ago or so, there was a lot of loud engines, like F1 racing noises, going on somewhere nearby! I hope it wasn't people stealing cars! :(
  20. Would they go near residential places?
  21. oquinn, I am all het up here about this looting/riot stuff going on, but your post about the youth locked into Londis made me laugh!! Maybe inappropriate, but that youth deserved it!
  22. This is more than hideous. I just cannot believe it. What a bunch of crazy horrible thugs! They'll be complaining and looking for sympathy for their actions next, saying the country isn't looking after them well enough. I hope everyone stays safe tonight. x
  23. I am sorry to hear this. I went through it last year. I strongly advise you to bring someone with you and if you can record the meeting, then definitely do. Ask as many questions as possible. My redundancy was full of mistakes and officially announced statements in meetings went against the grain of my own redundancy (over quarter of our headcount was been let go). You can go through the redeployment route, I did this, and managed to stay there an extra three months while waiting for a suitable opportunity arise. The most important thing is to make sure you write down everyting, dates, times, who said what and bring someone in with you, hopefully not afraid to ask questions on your behalf (my colleague came with me, she was ace). You can get the documents and notes reviewed by a solicitor. By the time I came to the solicitor point, I was exhausted from the process and couldn't fight any longer. I decided to just use a solicitor on the company's list, they "off the record" didn't want me to sign any agreement and to engage another solicitor to go against the redundnacy, but I just signed it. I knew I could be rehired again and this was ultimately what I what wanted to happen, so do what is right for you. I am glad with my decision becuase I am now going through the potential rehire process with them. Silly company always letting people go, and then rehiring them :) You will be fine, just have your friends/family around you, keep records and know what you are entitled to know etc.. ACAS are handy for quick questions.
  24. Im sorry to hear that you broken into today, I hope you are okay. Its an awful shock. I hope that the police are able to help you!!
  25. None on Underhill!! Thank you for letting us know, I was just about to ring Thames Water
