  1. I do a mean curry too :)
  2. Possibly met this group last night just after 7 as I cycled up Green Dale towards C'Well. They kind've blocked the path but as I was travelling at speed they would've been stupid to get in my way. No way of giving descriptions since it was dark but there were roughly 5 in a mixed group. No way of knowing if they're connected to the reported incident and apart from trying to be intimidating they weren't doing anything illegal.
  3. Sainsburys DKH have run out of the XBox version and had about 8 PS3 ones left at lunchtime. Expecting a new delivery later today. Both ?26.
  4. The best hotel I've stayed at in Rome is the Hotel de Russie. Centrally located just off the Piazza de Popolo and within walking distance of all the main attractions.
  5. On the beach - Southbank
  6. Na Zdorov'ye! or Za Vas!
  7. Don't know the name for this cocktail but it usually does the trick for me. Take a Champagne glass, add a teaspoon of sugar a couple of drops of Angostura Bitters a shot of Brandy then top with Champagne.
  8. And don't forget, baby monitors are really handy for hearing the front door when you're enjoying a glass of wine at the end of the garden!
  9. As with matlow we used Choice Healthcare's clinic, the one in Airport House, Purley Way, Croydon. No complaints. We wanted our children immunised and felt this was a safer option, not that the standard method is necessarily unsafe.
  10. MrBen Tfl are organising free commuter group rides called CycleFridays There are several routes including one from Brixton to Russell Square

    a joke

A young woman in New York was so depressed that she decided to end her life by throwing herself into the ocean. She went down to the docks and was about to leap into the frigid water when a handsome young sailor saw her tottering on the edge of the pier, crying. He took pity on her and said, ?Look, you?ve got a lot to live for. I?m off to Europe in the morning, and if you like, I can stow you away on my ship. I?ll take good care of you and bring you food every day.? Moving closer, he slipped his arm around her shoulder and added, ?I?ll keep you happy, and you?ll keep me happy.? The girl nodded yes. After all, what did she have to lose? Maybe a fresh start in Europe would give her life new meaning. That night, the sailor brought her aboard and hid her in a lifeboat. From then on, every night he brought her three sandwiches and a piece of fruit, and they made passionate love until dawn. Three weeks later, during a routine inspection, she was discovered by the captain. ?What are you doing here?? the captain asked. ?I have an arrangement with one of the sailors,? she explained. ?I get food and a trip to Europe, and he?s screwing me!? ?He sure is, lady,? the captain said. ?This is the Staten Island Ferry!?
  12. I suspect the real reason for the Home Secretary's U turn is because they'll shortly be releasing the Lockerbie Bomber on the same grounds. They're both political decisions thinly veiled as compassionate grounds.
  13. For a moment there quids I thought you meant 'Fargo' style.
  14. Lewishamman if you're really that concerned about your safety, safety of others, sexpolitation, etc then you'll probably get more help here Crimestoppers
  15. ironically the police traffic incident board on the corner of Underhill and Barry has created another blind spot.
  16. Dom, perhaps you could donate that chip on your shoulder?
  17. When I was a kid there was an old man who lived on his own in a flat above my friends home. He used to tell us stories about growing up during the war. I can't recall all of them apart from the one he told of a direct hit on his family home killing his mother and brother. That still chokes me a bit.
  18. nancysmum, Same happened to our MPV a couple of months ago up near the Library. Nothing to nick in the car (all compartments emptied out onto seats and floor) and locks had somehow been opened without breaking in. Quite a thoughtful thief I thought at the time. Trouble is we've had a spate of car break-ins in the last couple of weeks where side windows have been smashed. Not much you can do except the obvious which will hopefully deter future thefts if gains are negligible.
  19. Have a great day Buggie. Hope you have a sunny day. x
  20. I'm curious to know if there's a map of the old tram routes in East Dulwich. I recently met somebody who once lived in the area as a child and said the tram used to run up Underhill Rd. If you look carefully at the road it appears that the road seems to wear out along the original path of the tram rails. I wonder too if a tram ran down Woodwarde Rd near the library since that road seems to have a similar pattern of potholes.
  21. Just a long shot. Remember reading about some research that showed children that drank (proper) apple juice developed healthier respiratory systems and were less likely to get problems like Asthma. Deduced that since Swine flu attacks the respiratory system there might be a connection. So far my theoretical test case (You) has failed. How much Watercress do you eat?
  22. Do you regularly drink apple juice Asset?
  23. I'm a photographer and I've often been stopped by the police under the prevention of terrorism act. It's a hassle but usually the police are polite and after a few minutes I'm free to continue. I'd never take photo's in public of individual children unless I'd sought the permission of the parents or a carer. Similarly with adults, unless it's a crowd I'll ask for permission first. The way this guy was taking photo's isn't the accepted norm and he obviously wasn't using a LOMO but could well have been taking arty shots. A non photographer wouldn't know this though and if someone is acting suspiciously around children (with or without a camera and regardless of age) then I think it's fair to challenge (not aggressively confront) them. It might be perfectly innocent. It might not. But don't jump to the conclusion that this is hysteria. The OP has every right to check it out. If it was someone carrying a rucksack and looking nervous and acting strangely on the tube would you just ignore it on the basis of nothing malicious having been done yet?
  24. Much of what I feel has already been echoed above. Banning somebody for free speech is a contradiction unless it's inciting violence. I despise organisations like the BNP for what they stand for but actually feel that weirdly they do a good service. Partly because it keeps the debate alive as to why their views are so wrong and partly because it 'outs' the kind of people that hold those views and whom the vast majority of us want to be disassociated from. But spare a little compassion. When I come up against these people I sense that they hold these views because deep down they've been emotionally wounded in the past and carry around a lot of bitterness and anger making it difficult for them to form lasting, meaningful and caring relationships with people they want to be close too.
