Yet more vandalism from Foksy, err sorry art! -
They do a rather good juicy aged beef burger at The Lido Cafe. Very good it is although Cafe prices it aint. Keep meaning to try out Honest Burgers in Brixton Village. Looks delish.

Just a quick follow up to say that Greg has recently completed some amazing carpentry and plumbing work transforming our downstairs cloakroom which included boxing in pipes, fitting a sink, flush fit loo and under sink cupboard. Greg then built some seamless floating shelves for two alcoves in the lounge. First class work again! 07949 640 999 gregbfitters@gmail.com Thanks Loz

Perhaps the phrasing of my 'Like' button question above was a little simplistic. I agree with most of the points El Pibe makes. My thinking was along the lines of having a button (with a counter but not an identifier) which forumites could use to register their agreement with another posters opinion in a post without having to write a whole paragraph explaining why. Sounds a bit lazy, but often we read a thread where there are discussions with quite polarised views and it would be interesting to see how much support there was for either side ie by 'Liking' a post. Could add another dimension. I'm not suggesting that we turn the EDF into a more polished advertising vehicle. Currently the sponsorship and the ability to post links and recommend (or dis) local business seems to work just fine. Thanks for listening.

Who to follow on Twitter in E. Dulwich?
lozzyloz replied to Jakido's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
@LorenzoAliPhoto Photography, East Dulwich and totally random -
Ditto Giantbears. The Paratha's are fantastic. Buttery, soft and moist with a delicate flaky crispness on the outside. One mouthful transports you back to Kerala!

Spate of burglaries in East Dulwich
lozzyloz replied to EastDulwichRose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We received this email from SNT a couple of weeks ago: "Hi In the past week we have had a rise in shed burglaries were they have been taking bicycles, this has been round the area of Woodwarde road and Calton avenue. Would you please pass on this information to your neighbours to make them aware of what is happening and to check the security of their sheds and bicycles, if anybody needs any advice just tell them to email or call Village SNT. Thanks Tricia" Do get in touch with your SNT if you need security advice and ask for a copy of the 'How Secure Is Your Home' leaflet that gives good home security tips. It's not complicated and doesn't have to be expensive. -
Another recommendation for Greg, an excellent Carpenter that we've used for many projects and kindly came over today at short notice to rectify our sticking front door. Locally based in Dulwich and very professional 0794 964 0999

Just want to recommend Des who's virtually painted our entire home. I've never met such a perfectionist. Preps walls properly and cleans up afterwards. Really professional, helpful and a pleasure to have around. He's also done quite a bit of work for neighbours who are equally pleased with the results. Nisha is leaving Val's and East Dulwich this week
lozzyloz replied to Horsebox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Very sad news. Nisha and family were always very welcoming and friendly. Once when I needed some Star Anise, Nisha went upstairs and brought me some from her kitchen! Wish them all the very best in Nottingham. PS New owner seems nice. -
I can also recommend Lou Smith. I've worked with him and photographed his work on many occasions. Very professional and great guy too. Here's a link to his work which also has a short video showing the process Lou Smith

Will someone tell Lozzyloz he's too popular...
lozzyloz replied to charliecharlie's topic in The Lounge
Thanks CC. I've deleted all the crap and kept the important ones referring to lost cats, dog poo, police helicopter sightings and best Indian Take-aways. PM me x -
My wife has just alerted me to this thread and I must say I'm really touched by some of the comments here. Thank you so much. I'm really grateful and I think I can work out who some of you are! I have three sons of my own so I've learnt the art of patience with kids although they'll always surprise you! I care very much about my work and nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing the look on parents faces when they see the results of my efforts. My Family Portrait Packages are straight forward (High res CD, Prints, Private Web Gallery) and competitively priced. If anyone would like to know more please contact me via my website Lorenzo Photography and if you fancy it 'Like' my Facebook page or visit my Blog so you can keep in touch and see my latest work. Thank you all again. Loz x

It looks like Snakes Lane still exists as a path now part of Dulwich Park connecting Court lane with the South Circular (Dulwich Common road). It looks as though the wells are the source for the lake and Grove Cottage could be the site of the Grove Tavern Pub (Harvester).

Congratulazioni per la nascita della vostra bambina!! Welcome to the world little bambina and well done mum and dad! x

cheryla these low level crimes go on all the time. Only their perception has recently been heightened on this forum. The streets of ED are as safe/dangerous as they ever were. Just be alert and dont walk like a victim. You'll be fine.

cheyanne are you having dinner at the brasserie or the restaurant? The Brasserie is very relaxed re dress code and the restaurant tends to be a bit smarter.

[pre] Something like 1/3 of southwark schools are allowed to discriminate on the basis of a child's parent's religion. [/pre] That's not strictly true taper. I'm an atheist, Mrs LL is agnostic and none of our children are christened, baptised etc but do attend a faith school. No discrimination there and despite the backing of the CofE (which I admit I'm not totally comfortable with) they do educate children about other faiths.

Schonrock kids and unchaperoned "school run"
lozzyloz replied to Alex K's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This is not the only example re a 5 year olds ability but . . . Valentino Rossi first began riding at a very young age. Rossi's first racing love was go-karts. Fuelled by his mother, Stefania's, concern for her son's safety, Graziano purchased a go-kart as substitute for the bike. However, the Rossi family trait of perpetually wanting to go faster prompted a redesign; Graziano replaced the 60cc motor with a 100cc national kart motor for his then 5-year-old son. -
4x4 moulded front bumpers get regularly targeted around that area too - I wonder if its the same people/person involved.
