  1. blather!!!! :)) thanks, oh-kay......pissed-up account..mmmmmaybe..but I can assure you i was extremely sober when I went in to purchase said organic beers and wines from G&B. anyway isn't this supposed to be about cycling ....;-) from a keen east dulwich new resident cyclist...hoping I don't knock into someone...or vice versa..
  2. ...as long as you take your own bag to carry stuff back from G&B though....I was really surprised to be refused a bag after walking in to pick up some decent beers and wine...next time I will park my 4x4 outside!! in the end I just bought my beers from somerfield... but yeah good of gwbbb to confess..I am a fellow cyclist....and would do the same :)
  3. Recommend marinating them in red wine and garlic first..and they have to go in a really, really hot pan to sear them on the outside and retain the juices..
  4. Shantaram by Gregory Roberts...fantastic read, set in India and really compelling, ranging from life in the slums, jail and gangs to war in Afghanistan (its not depressing..honest). And re-reading Three Men on a Bummell..by Jerome K Jerome. Fabulous. Just finished Alan Bennett's Talking Heads...great writer..
  5. I agree that post in this area is terrible...the only stuff I have received since moving here in the last few months is from the royal mail redirection I set up. I have no confidence that anything will arrive and it is really worrying. I only seem to get flyers for pizza delivery...I wouldn't mind but after reading so much about the great indian restaurants on Lordship Lane on this forum, I am disappointed not to get flyers from any of these offering delivery :)Now that would take my mind off missing post.....
  6. hi all i agree wtih Sean and others..the only answer is a rice cooker, it gives perfect rice each time and keeps it warm. best to use good quality rice for separate grains each time and the correct water/rice ratio..1 cup rice to 1 cup water..wash rice first and don't stir:) but if you must use a pan then put rice and water in at same time..bring to boil...then turn down to lowest setting with lid on for 10 mins.
  7. wow I am so glad you asked that...I have just moved here and I was seriously thinking i must be the only person without children/husband in tow....I have been checking out the shops/market coffee shops and east dulwich is lovely but sometimes I wonder where all the people in my position are!! So you are definitely not the only one guppy :)
