  1. DM where's superquinn??
  2. oooh i'm with wee quinnie - where's the tea shop and when is it opening?
  3. Monkey, didnt your solicitors put in the land registry application for you?
  4. ok i take the point about the buses. but the abit about the holiday i'm not buying. that's my point it wasnt a 100% holiday, it was a "working holiday" which is definitely code for jolly. i'm not denying the man a holiday, but if it is a holiday call it a holiday and lets not dress it up. isnt that the problem with british politics? there is no "genuine alternative".....
  5. Ok Boris is an idiot and frankly i wouldnt leave him in charge of my crapper let alone london, but Ken doing a good job?? come on. has anybody been on the tube in the last 2 years? yes i know it doesnt serve most of south london, but thats a blessing in disguise. I've travelled on the tube my entire life and not only has it not got better, its got worse under ken. where's all my taxes on transport going?? it sure arent going on the tube. we're packed into carriages in inhumane surroundings, and we pay more than anyone in europe (comparatively speaking) for the priviledge. have the bus services improved that much since ken's in charge? you'll have to tell me since i've only started getting the bus since i moved to ED, but i can imagine they were that bad to start with. and to add insult to injury Ken swans off to cuba for a bit of a jolly while the rest of us have to fight to get to work.... if this is the best he can do, he can keep it.....
  6. i'm all for more smiling, but its hard to smile when people are pushing in front of me in the bus queue....
  7. not sure if they would be into this, but there are bikes you can rent in dulwich park (they look like laid back pedalos) went down a treat with my niece and nephew when they stayed with me (age 12 and 14 respectively) - if the weather's good it might be worth a try.... but hey, what do i know, i'm just an old codger...
  8. is the blue mountain not considered a "caff"? is it too upmarket? they do a mean fry up in there though....
  9. It doesnt surprise me that period conversions do considerably better than new builds - i moved here specifically for a period conversion as out east (where i was before) they are pretty much non-existent. I'm surprised to hear that the buy to let market isnt doing to0 great around here - i though all young trendy professionals wanted to live in ED? ;-)
  10. Hi dulwich flower monday's suck so i find smiling at the bus stop very difficult. however i always manage to give the bus driver of the 40 a smile as it seems to be the same little chinese guy everyday, and lets face it, i dont think i would want his job driving down the walworth road 20 times a day. I take on board what you are saying will do my very best to show people at my bus stop my pearly whites come monday morning(my apologises if this scares anyone in advance) :))
  11. My understanding was that the freehold interest of the barclay's site was sold at auction (and the purpose for buying the freehold is probably what mikese22 says above). If this is the case though, whoever bought it wouldnt terminate barclay's lease as they are probably very good tenants - unless of course barclays decided to quit themselves.... the plot thickens....
  12. cheers Keef, will give it a go :)
  13. While i'm quite partial to a bit of good sushi, i think we are more in need of a decent italian before we get to the japanese.... and yes, i know this has already been debated to death....
  14. Understood :) As i'm relatively new to ED (well i'm coming up to a year but that still makes me a new kid on the bloke) what did that building use to be? Was it an office of some sort?
  15. thanks Sean and sorry for rehashing old news. Its all downhill from here on then. I hate foxtons the most out of all estate agents... their reputation (thanks to panaroma) has spread far and wide....
  16. Does anyone know what's going on to the building next to the sea cow? its got been boarded up and it looks like some works are going on. My apologises if this has already been discussed....
  17. You see, this is exactly what i'm talking about. period conversions are still selling like hot cakes. out of interest, has anyone actually visited a "GV15" or a "DKH" show flat?
  18. but surely new build flats are smaller than the period conversions that ED has to offer? judging by the agents windows these are still going for a fair whack of cash...
