  1. I popped in. It looked unfinished. The few stalls in operation were a bit dull. The floor finish and colour, and the ceiling are very low quality, as are the strange partitions between stalls. This could be a lot better. It looks like a community art project rather than a viable business. I can't see it lasting, which is a real shame. Charlie
  2. How could you ban traffic from Lordship Lane Snorky? It would go through the narrow back streets instead, snarl up residential streets and create a massive blockage of traffic between Camberwell and Forest Hill and the south circular. I drive to Seacow on Lordship Lane from 250 metres away - to make sure the food stays hot. Anything else I generally walk. Charlie
  3. It is shit. Slow. And when the postman leaves stuff outside your door I do worry that it'll go missing. Charlie
  4. I was a bit gutted cos I had my eye on the warehouse to house my racing car in. Then I realised that I couldn't even afford to buy a square foot of land in ED so I'm keeping the Surbiton workshop operational for now. On a more common sense note and with less of the panic at the possibility of change, I would be surprised that the business model makes sense. The warehouse must have been very expensive, business rates are very high and I remember that the stalls were being offered at very cheap weekly rents. If it's a sustainable business, it sounds exciting and a worthwhile addition to Lordship Lane, and should allow some low turnover entertaining stalls including marketing-obsessed cheese merchants, used record dealers and no-doubt the fudge and flapjack brigade. Of course, what would make it even more of a laugh is if the friendly local residents staged a daily protest outside and shouted "Just say no! The ED Warehouse must go!" or some such. Charlie
  5. I guess that the Cheese stall is in competition with the Cheese Block. But even the Cheese Block has to contend with the reputation of the Cheese Nazis in Highbury. Cheese! Cheese announcements in triplicate? And the ED Warehouse coming to blows with the residents? Too much drama for a Tuesday. Charlie

  7. Say no to Cafe Nero? It was an electrical shop, now it's a coffee shop? What's the big deal? And the ED warehouse would have to do a lot of harm to be a 'disaster' to the residential area it's part of. Do a few stallholders in a small warehouse really warrant this much fear and worry? Charlie
  8. I was aksing the Bishop about their plans - invite only, 2.00am close. I'm surprised they're not going for later. I fancy a 6.00am bedtime for an hour's sleep before I get up to get Max up. I'd like to spend the night at the Drum. I'll ask about their plans. Charlie
  9. Interesting that someone mentioned the Florence (ex-Brockwell Park Tavern) because I love the Bishop and I'm very pleased that it won but I think the Florence is a dreadful cock-up. The food was really average, the service terrible, staff uppity. I'll never go back. The Bishop's great though. Charlie

  11. Direct action is the best approach I think. Bricks through the windows, jumping on their bonnets and roofs, slashing tyres, etc etc. Charlie
  12. I love the Bishop and the 2.00am licence helps me to love it even more. It's great. The staff are great. The customers are great. The food is good, the service is good. It is the perfect boozer. Charlie
  13. I see her as a Girls Aloud style-success. Pretty, funny, humble, talented and just nice. Gawd bless 'er! Charlie

  15. I have to ask. What's wrong with All Bar One? It's just a place to have a beer. Better than the Vale, not as good as the Bishop. It's just a pub. Charlie
  16. Lounged! But funny. I like the comment about the woman in the shop agreeing. And "I phoned Camelot and they fobbed me off with some story that -6 is higher - not lower - than -8 but I'm not having it" is a classic. Charlie
  17. This is cocaine speaking I'll take your wife from you I'll take your life from you I'll take you job from you I'll take you car from you And in the end I'll be your only friend.

  20. Cool bar. One of the best but I am at the age when I can't be bothered to squeeze in and even if I did I'd probably spend the night wondering why I couldn't hear the conversation and thinking about going to the Bishop where I know I can sit down. Charlie
  21. Walking in the neon - the lonely galaxy
  22. I love Mirash. Friendly, great food, terrible 80s decor. And reasonable. Old school and still the best. Charlie
  23. When the local beggars ask you for ?3.90 for a large latte and a chocolate muffin guv.
  24. I've had a few bad experiences in there too. Scott the funny and sweet manager/boss seems to have a tendency to let the pressure get to him whereupon he becomes a right stroppy old queen. After being scolded a couple of times I haven't been back. It's a nice place though, as long as you deal with the bad attitude.
