It closes too early. The 24 hour licensing laws mean that we should be allowed to drink late. The Bish is a late one now. Charlie

I prefer the Bish to the CPT. 2.00am close. Nice beer. Friendly staff. Pretty girls. Good looking boys. Adults. A cool dog. Not too loud music. Good food. Good service. I still voted for the Drum though. Charlie

What is the least rewarding/most boring job you've had

Mr Wimpy. Kingston. 1988. Scaring small children on the street. Beaten up by teenagers in a Wimpy kids party. Horrible. Charlie -

And have voted for the Drum in the Best Bar competition. And so should everybody else. The Drum needs a random award behind the bar! Don't go in there as often as I'd like, what with the family and the less silly nights out these days. Charlie

One of my busybody neighbours put a flyer through everyone's door last year with the rules of trick or treating. Apparently a pumpkin in the window = an open invitation to knock on the door. No pumpkin = no visit. When I lived in Peckham trick or treat used to be mental with the kids grabbing as much as possible and then fighting over the spoils outside the house. In Dulwich all we got last year was "trick or treat" and then some very careful and fair sweet collecting followed by anxious parents saying "now Molly, what do you say?" "thank you very much" etc etc. Sweet. We'll dress our son up in his pumpkin outfit again. Bless! I can't imagine the police flyer is true. What do they care? Charlie

I think you'll be pleased with Sicko then. It's very good and should improve your perception of him. Charlie

I think you have to focus on the stength of the story telling, the smart research, great examples and a simple argument told convincingly and in a straightforward way. He's a bit of a knob but his work is great. I always loved his first film where he tried to track down the head of GM that closed the plants in Flint Michigan to ask him about the consequences of his actions. Charlie

I have just watched this incredibly powerful, well-reasoned and smart film made by someone I regard as the lone voice of dissent in America. What is wrong with that country? Are the people so lacking in sense and reason that they do not criticise or question their leaders? Is there nobody in the American media willing to provide a debate about the state of the nation and the plight of the poor? I am very distressed by America and this film has really hammered home that feeling. Don't be poor and ill in the USA. Great film. And it actually restored some pro-British sentiment in me as well. That Vitalic EP is superb! I've always liked: Barbara Acklin's - Am I The Same Girl Magic Disco Machine - Scratchin Badder Than Evil - Hot Wheels (from Gordon's War) Johnny Pate - Shaft in Africa Baby Huey - Listen To Me But then I used to be a funk DJ so I'm biased. My wife says sugar instead of shit. I think if you're going to swear, swear. A substitute is pointless. Charlie

Swearing is a beautiful thing. It can be very elegant in the right hands. Too much can be vulgar and in the wrong hands it is messy and obnoxious. It can be very funny and if its shock value is used well it can be just the ticket to elevate plain speech to another level. I think each swear word is equally useful and appropriate in the right circumstances. The traditionally worst swearword is the C word. But that is no more offensive than any other word when you hear it uttered by a five year old. And even the C word can have its shock value reduced by overuse. Appropriate, sparing and well chosen use of swearwords is important. Inappropriate and over-used swearing is a different matter. Just to reinforce my point see most of the good tellings of the Aristocrats joke (not at work obviously): http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+aristocrats&search=Search Charlie

For the Gaggia TS the answer is 550ish.

I'm thinking about buying a Gaggia Titanium to make proper espresso and capuccino at home. Anybody else have a method, a machine or a recommendation for proper coffee? The Titanium has beans at the top, espresso out the bottom, a proper steamer with proper pressure and it's fully automatic: http://www.coffeeitalia.co.uk/prodimages/gaggia/titanium-plus/198_99_titanium_plus.jpg And I have been lusting after the tank filled Gaggia TS for some time - more robust, more industrial, less automatic: http://kofem.ru/images/goods/good_455bbd36bd797.jpg There's one on the bar of the EDT. I am a regular visitor of the Drum and have known its hapless but jovial owner for 10 years or so. I was quite impressed when they ran out of beer too. It's got to be a regular thing. Charlie

Is Halo 3 any good? I get the impession with those first person shooters that you're either hooked for months trying to complete the game (I remember spending a couple of months playing Quake about 8 years ago) or you're in a room being shot to shit by evil 11 year olds. And I'm sure I couldn't get a moment's peace from the wife and child. Charlie
