As you say, James Barber represents East Dulwich, and you say there isn't a problem with the libraries in this area. In any case, this isn't his forum (although he has a thread on it) so it seems a bit strange to be starting a separate thread specifically to ask him a question! http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,336529 Wouldn't you be better approaching the people responsible for the libraries to find out what their policy is and whether or not it is being implemented? I imagine it's difficult to find a balance between keeping the places reasonably quiet and not frightening potential users off.
  2. This surely isn't the cafes' fault! They are as much entitled to buy the bread as anybody else! It's the Co-op's fault for not ordering sufficient bread to meet what appears to be a regular demand, isn't it? The Co-op would be shooting themselves in the foot to ask the cafes to get their bread from somewhere else, surely?!

  4. Thanks all, I didn't think what I had would be suitable, so I took it all to somebody else's party ....
  5. Thanks both.
  6. According to a post in a Nunhead group on Facebook, a stabbing in the early hours of this morning :(
  7. To my shame, I don't know where there are food banks in East Dulwich. I've done a search on here but I can't find any previous threads, though I'm sure there must be. Does anybody have a list of locations please, and also information on whether things have to be taken there within certain hours? Also, do they just need basics like canned beans and veg, or will they take seasonal food and alcohol (left over from a party). I assume it all has to be unopened, for obvious reasons. Thanks.
  8. I got Osmo online. At the time, I couldn't find anybody who sold it round here. I didn't use it on the floor but on oak kitchen work surfaces. I'm very happy with it.
  9. OK if I guess wrong, please post the source of your data, thanks. And I will read and post on whatever threads I like!!!

Please don't start it all again. And please don't presume to speak for "the overwhelming majority of residents" unless you have valid statistical data with a sufficiently large sample size to back your statement up. Which I'm guessing you haven't.

  12. Would you like to comment on Kiera's post above?

Also 185 to Oval (for Northern Line) or Vauxhall (for Victoria Line). 63 (I think) also goes to Oval. Often quicker than going to the Elephant, once you are on the bus, but does depend on how long you would have to wait for it.

Not for Saturday is it? :)) :)) :))
  16. A youngish guy has just come to my door with a clipboard and displaying a bag of notes - as in cash (!) He started saying he played for a football club, but didn't get any further because I said I don't give money to people calling at my door. This may - or may not - be genuine, but seems very odd to me. Just a heads-up. I live in the North Cross Road area.

Was it temporarily extended or something?

Brilliant. I genuinely laughed out loud. So did I!!!

That is absolutely ridiculous but no more than I have come to expect, given SSW's modus operandi in the past.
  20. edhistory Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Acorn Commercial have the premises up for sale > with vacant possession. I'm completely bemused by the picture in the attachment. Isn't Mrs Robinson on the other corner of the road? Has the photo been reversed? And sorry, I hadn't properly looked at the picture and thought you were referring to the clothes shop. Hadn't realised that had already been closed.
  21. edhistory Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is Mrs Robinsons leaving us? I thought there was a post on here a while back saying the shop which sells clothes was closing? Can't remember if it was being combined with the shop over the road though.
  22. I usually ask. Of course you never know if you are getting a truthful answer :(

  24. What? Annoying to suggest a way you might actually get the posties concerned to stop doing whatever they're doing wrong? https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app/contact#category-tree-after
