  6. Happy Christmas (or whatever you celebrate) to all forum posters and readers from me too. May 2017 bring you only good things xxx
  7. The plant stall in North Cross Road still had some about half an hour ago.

  9. Is it just me who has been wondering for some time why DulwichFox, and more recently Louisa, need to put their names at the end of every post, despite the fact that one just has to glance at the "posted by...."immediately above the post to see who has written it?

Get a load of ivy. Twine the stems in and out to form a circle. Shove a load of other leaves and stuff in. Hang it up with a ribbon or a bit of string. Free. Ish. Sorted :)

  12. If you are by yourself with a lot of shopping, as you probably would be at this time of year, it is very difficult indeed to "bag up yourself" while you are still taking items out of your trolley and putting them on the belt. And making sure you are ready to pay but haven't put your card or cash or purse somewhere where it could get nicked while you are dealing with the shopping. It is a massive help if there are staff available to help with packing.

Even if you changed the time signature ....... :))
  15. uncleglen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- .what an absolute shambles and we > are all at risk Whilst that is true, it was very scary being around in the seventies (IRA etc) when there were constant bomb scares, and sometimes actual bombs. And in the fifties/sixties it was the threat of nuclear war. And then in the forties there were air raids. Of course this is bad, and please don't think I'm diminishing the impact on those affected, but we are lucky we've had quite long periods when there hasn't been something to be terrified of. Soon it will all be irrelevant anyway. Climate change gathers apace, and the US president (God help us) wants to undo all the steps that have been/were to have been taken to try to prevent it. Sorry for my pessimism. ETA: Is it just me who thinks it is odd that you carry your ID papers with you when you go on a killing mission?
  16. The framing shop opposite the Plough is also very helpful, if that's more convenient for you.

Crikey, Burbage, don't bring such common sense into this thread :)) Some posters won't be able to cope with it :))

Happy Christmas to you too :))
  19. Vote with your feet. I don't use Sainsbury's any more unless I absolutely have to. Had very poor customer service regarding a delivery, and have taken my online custom elsewhere and most of my offline as well.

Good for you. I'm usually too chicken to do that.
  22. This thread seems to have slipped down the list ..... I ordered some stuff from Lakeland at half past six last night. I got free overnight delivery and it arrived about 2pm this afternoon (hence the sudden joy, as they said between 12 and 4). It all cost me under three quid because I had various vouchers. I am admiring my lovely green Joseph Joseph non-slip chopping board with integrated knife sharpener, Joseph Joseph Handi-Zest zester/nutmet grater with integrated blade wiper, and lovely green Lakeland pan protectors as I type. (The Value Twelve Cup Bun Tray not so much - but then, it's not green .....)

I think some people are just crap and selfish drivers in any situation, and there seem to be more of them these days. It beggars belief how many people seem to think it's absolutely fine to hold up queues of traffic in both directions whilst they do a U turn or three point turn on a main road, because they can't be bothered to go the short distance to the next side road and turn round there (or go round the block). And red lights might as well not exist for some drivers.

Is it too late to get the wording of the survey amended to make this clearer? I had to leave it to come back to later, though like JW above I answered that question as best I could while saying I didn't understand it!
