  1. What's the CO19 operation?
  2. SingingWilks that is much more exciting than PeckhamRose's suggestion! I'm guessing an armed person then??
  3. So come on, I know youre all itching to know as well...why was the helicopter flying over se22 for a good 20mins or so between 8.15pm and 8.35pm ish.
  4. Yeah that would take you a good while! Plus it will be dark and likely to rain! I have cabbed it before and it costs about ?10...
  5. I would just get the Victoria train from Peckham Rye (take the 12/197 bus there if required) - it goes via Clapham High Street station and takes approx. 10mins!
  6. Put some of the 'stop nail biting' nail varnish on it... http://www.amazon.com/Mavala-Stop-Nail-Biting-Sucking-Prevention/dp/B0000YUXI0 There are some good story books to if she is in to that kind of thing: http://www.amazon.com/Little-Thumb-Wanda-Dionne/dp/1565547543
  7. The hill in front of the flats up from Goodrich has also been good recently...question is though, will the snow last that long today? Its now melting very quickly where I am!
  8. No buses are currently coming up/down Barry Road...reckon LL is a better option HiediHi. Good luck!
  9. Bishop is definately not just for the 'east dulwich youngsters' on NYE...I have been for the past 4 years or so and had a great time. ?10 ticket - buy in advance - DJ, good number of people, great atmosphere and then food avaliable for the walk home afterwards! Do it! (Im skiing this year but will miss The Bishop!)
  10. Id say vouchers for TopShop / Miss Selfridge etc - very popular and will earn them 'cool' points at school! If doing vouchers is boring then try go choosing something from there yourself...
  11. Thank you for the info and so quickly too!
  12. I was wondering if you could tell me any more details about the old wood yard area on Underhill Road / Barry Road junction. I know it was sold and planning application given for houses but that was over a year ago and now it is just becoming a tipping yard - a mattress appeared overnight yesterday. The plants disrupt people passing by, the wire fencing is constantly being inteferred with and is incredibly unsightly!
  13. It was 10 seconds - if that, not 10 minutes....I feel like offering ot offer watch Sandperson and see how many 'opportunities' I have to do wrong over a 24 hours period without him knowing - after all he is clearly someone we couold all learn from, neer does anything wrong!!!!! It was an accident after all AS THE ORIGINAL PST POINTED OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Mellors when are you thinking of going next year?! I went, had a great time but didnt realise just how miserable 'rainy season' could be...and I imagine even worse if I had children to entertain! Amazing country though...
  15. I am shocked sometimes at the comments people make on here. Agathoise was trying to be helpful and remind people to be extra vigalent but some people seem to have used it as a spiteful opportunity to say 'serves you right' - talk about kicking a man while he is down! Agathoise, Thank you very much, I will be much more aware of my surroundings over the next month or two especially as a young single women. Anyone else saying / thinking 'serves you right' - dont come one here moaning when something similar happens to you. Ridiculous.
  16. I understand that there may be a lot of post to get through...thats kind of fair enough after a strike...but more my concern is who is delivering the post and is that where the problem lies for post delivered at the moment? My "postman" yesterday had jeans and a tshirt on, earphones in and smoking a cigarette, he was throwing the rubberbands from his piles all over the place and leaves his post trolley at the corner of the road, unlocked, while he does each little area (10-20 houses)...I would never have known he was a RM postman rather than a junk mail delivery man unless I saw my phone bill in his hand! Very concerning!
  17. O no Scott - the one year I decide to go away, you offer me a free ticket, typical haha! Im off skiing so wont be needing it but thanks anyway, have a great evening and see you next year!
  18. For the past 3 or 4 years I have headed down to The Bishop for NYE. Its usually ?10 / ticket, get them in advance, and a good laugh! They clear out all the middle tables to create a dance floor, there is a DJ, confetti/streamers/bangers etc at midnight and generally a great ED feel....best of all Food and Wine stay open and are almost next door!
  19. Just to point out that all the mothers who have gone back to work full time (and probably love it!) are the ones who unfortunately won't be on here discussing this topic! My mother worked full time throughout both mine and my younger brothers childhood and although she probably found it difficult at the time in the long run she found it much easier than other mothers when we started to grow up - ie full time at school / Secondary school life / University... her life was not dependant on us being there or us being reliant on her! It also, I think, made us much more independent earlier in life and appreciate them when they were around rather than taking them for granted. Both my parents however were home by 6pm so we always had a family breakfast and dinner/bath time/story time together which made things much easier for them I think. We were also very lucky that we had a great childminder allowing us to mix with other children, do different activities etc. I now totally respect the fact that my mum (and Dad) worked very hard whilst we were younger enabling us to go to great schools and undertake all the things we wanted to. She has also given me the career drive to achieve things like university, internships and finally a job I love! Good luck with whatever decision you make.
  20. I'm on Underhill Road (Barry Road end) and having BIG problems! Not only am I having post at very irregular intervals - one big delivery a week - but am also having problems with mail I'm sending from the post box on the corner of Friern Road...its not late, it just doesnt arrive! (between 6 - 10 instances). I have taken to posting my letters in different areas en route to different friends and family across the week in order to try and get round this problem. Weird...
  21. Does anyone know exactly where it is - as Nero says, which bus routes are affected? The station?
  22. Its not that bad! I do: Peckham Rye to London Bridge and then jump on the Jubilee Line to Canary Whalf. Takes about 45mins door to door for me! Benefit: great shops round there!
  23. Not all of us are 17...I would be more than happy to entertain kids for a couple of hours myself and am the grand old age of 24!!! I'd suggest activities such as paper plane making and then a flying competition from the top of the stairs / across a front room. Best decorated gets a prize, futhest distance, best flier etc. You can also do things like Pickle said getting them involved with dinner. For example making fresh minature pizzas and they have to design all the vegatbles on the theirs - that also makes them understand foods etc. Or make it reading time - get them in to a routine - if possible, for younger ones get a tape book for them to get involved with? You could of course simply walk the long way home from school...go via the library if only to add on 10minutes or so! Enjoy!
  24. Please both of you report this to someone, it doesnt matter if its a call to the wrong person to start with but please tell someone. Prevention is better than cure by a long way...
  25. O interesting suggestions, I'll try them out! I dont add the baking powder, I use self raising flour 125g, 125g sugar, 125g butter, 2 eggs = well mixed, then add whatever flavouring you want and then add to the cases - crucial: Dont over fill the cases! I def agree with the above cooking times though - a lot of receipes suggest 18/20mins but this is too long - they continue to cook even once you have taken them out! My favourites are vanilla cakes with lemon drizzle over the top (lemon juice and icing sugar) mmm... Enjoy ladies!
